  • Can you even IMAGINE an epic movie like this being made today? Hollywood has gone completely down the tubes...

  • A time of epicness and great movie making, that still to this day remains untouched.I pity the (fool) director that takes up the gauntlet for the remake of such an iconic chapter in cinema history...

  • Mega Epic!

  • "You're wrong Messala!". One of the great lines in this the greatest movie ever.

  • a truly ground breaking...life changing....masterpiece......the acting was superb...the sountrack ...is just simply out of this world.............

  • my lest name is ben hur :D (in not kidding XD)

  • Whenever I hear this, I just wanna be back to the Roman Empire! Ave Caesar! :D

  • Cosmic music.God composes trough Rozsa

  • i love this movie and the sound trak

  • I feel closer to God each time i hear this. Absolutely Amazing ! Thank You so Much for Sharing it with us.

  • After the initial fanfare, the prelude begins with the triumphant version of The Christ theme...the film really is A Tale of the Christ....

  • Its almost as if God composed this score...AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Where did you get this soundtrack from? I need this CD...!!

  • 2 people are messala's supporters

  • ¡Maravillosa banda sonora! Un film único e inolvidable. ¡Arriba Marte, abajo Eros! Saludos.

  • This score is absolutely powerful! It represents the movie all by itself. This is indeed my favorite movie of all time. It captures friendship, love, loss, hate, torture, helplessness, hope, revenge, redepmtion and faith! Charlton Heston RIP.. YOU WERE THE MAN!!

  • I like this one better:)

  • I remember inside the movie house with popcorn in hand awaiting the opening, then this soundtrack fills the theater, man goose bumps all over. It still has that effect.

  • Ramming speed !!!

  • u gotta download link?/.plzz

  • That love theme starting at 1:41 is sweeping and beautiful. Then at 3;25 that majestic and heroic sound wraps it all up.

  • 50 years ago, when I was 10 years old, I was taken by two wealthy aunts to see the press premiere of Ben Hur at the London Colosseum (then a cinema) to see the film in Cinerama. I was overawed and have loved Ben Hur ever since - the best ever epic which I have seen 100s of times! Closely followed by El Cid!

  • Pour moi ce fut le plus grand film que j'ai jamais vu. Encore maintenant, à 61 ans, la musique de l'intro me trouble comme aux premiers jours.

  • mm, the first half kinda disappointed me, but the second half I liked it more.

  • The orchestra here isn't really in tune, especially brasses...there are also a LOT of timing, articulation, and tone issues...trumpets in particular crack a lot of notes. The organist too is using the most unusual/awkward chord durations. Strings aren't bad, but a little lifeless, and they rush in places. Great score, but it sounded better in the movie.

  • what a spectacular delight...both the Movie and the Score. Bless you for putting this up.

  • best movie of all times better than titanic that is a pice of #$"!#%&$#

  • @philthevandal wyler said this and the ten commandments told a similar story but this engaged the audiance more [heston said wyler was a high pressure director]

  • @spacepatrolman of course ¡

i love all the EPIC MOVIES

  • @philthevandal If you like epic music listen to skyscrapers by carpenter that video is here

  • LOVE IT..LOVE IT LOVE IT

  • This, and Lawrence of Arabia- best soundtracks ever

  • My God...

  • excelente!!! O melhor filme de todos os tempos. 11 oscars!!!

  • That intro is so METAL....orchestras are heavier than metal bands!

  • @maxpower789z

in this case, it's the musical intervals used.

similar to metal guitars in the brass.

  • BEN-HUR; The greatest movie ever made! (1959)

  • Christ Died 4 US! & Don't u 4Get that!

  • Magnificent, epic music! Much better then the version presented in the film.

  • @billyguns2

prolly THE BEST composer, that's why.

  • @martinh103 Yeah, I know how you feel. This is one of my favorite movies, as well as the book it's from also being one of my favorites. In fact, I need to read it again.

  • I just finished watching Ben Hur for probably the 60th time. I'd forgotten how spectacular the music was and am glad to find some of it on YouTube.

  • ive also watched ben hur many many times, its over 200....no other soundtrack can get near it

  • i think god himself wrote this music, and then handed it to maestro rozsa to orchestrate. nothing compares to this gorgeous score!

  • Check Out My Rendition of the Ben Hur: Love Theme, full orchestral strings!

  • BEST MOVIE EVER !

  • ben hur truly the best film of all time. the score miklos gave is just undescribable. ive watched ben hur over 200 times . its timeless. sad that both charlton heston and stephen boyd are both now dead

  • Academy Awarded!

  • I simply cannot properly say anything to describe this music ... It is simply beyond my words .... the best that I can do is this .... I FEEL LIKE MY MY CHEST IS A CANNON spewing my HEART and GOODWILL out all over the planet ....

It is said ... the best things in this life r not said (as they r beyond the meaning of language) .... the 2nd best r misunderstood ... the 3rd best r conversation ...

I am simply at BLISS every-time I hear this. SPECTACULAR

  • If anything ever came together for a Hollywood movie--it was all here in 1959s Ben Hur. Rozsa's music score is the grandest part of this all time best movie ever. A great story for the Christian world. I feel very fortunate to have seen its first run in a top notch theatre in 1960 (The Marbro in Chicago). The theatre is gone but this movie lives on. Thanks for posting this.

  • Wonderful! My favorite movie of all time..........winner of 11 Academy Awards! (1959)

  • Wonderful!!!, Maravilloso preludio!!!!

  • forever......................

  • muy interesante zeekwolfe, gracias por tu aportación!

  • A classic!!!!

  • NOW THIS IS A SOUNDTRACK !!!

  • the best......................

  • "Ben-Hur" was written by an American Civil War general, Lew Wallace. When he wrote the book he was governor of New Mexico and knew Sheriff Par Garret. It is possible that he met Billy the Kid, but that is not known. Why he wrote "Ben-Hur" is something of a mystery when you consider his life and times in the Old West.

  • Awesome! Such a majestic beginning. Thanks for posting.

  • A bit slower than the movie track but with WAY more punch, emphasis and clarity! This to me is this piece at its best.

  • Yeah, these kind of sound tracks gives me goosebumps..The best kind of music ever..I think the greatest soundtrack is "The Ten Commandments".

  • the most spectacular epic religion movie i ever see respect

  • My God how beautiful. Truly one of the most beautiful soundtrack ever.

  • Fantastic, but where in the world is the Overture? Brilliant strings in that bit.

  • Ben Hur Overture -

    youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=dApIMjrn2Vg

  • This is a masterpiece from a pure master...Bravo Miklos Rozsa

  • L-isbah muzika ghal films li qatt inkitbet ......prosit lil Alla tad-don li tah lil bniedem .

    Charlie .....Malta

  • With Miklos ROZSA, this music of ancient times has a holy perfume and a breath of eternity

  • Dear God this song sent chills down my arms and back and brought tears to my eyes. Wow. Just brilliant. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

  • I cannot agree with you more! I first saw this great movie when I was in 5th grade and to this day, the movie and music move me tremendously! i remember the effect it had on me during the school year. Especially the friendship theme! I am so happy it has moved you the same way.

  • Rozsa is a great composer, but imo Basil Poledouris is the greatest composer of all time.

    R.I.P. Poledouris.

  • agreed, the great master is surpassed by even greater student.

  • One of my favorites, too! In fact it was the first piece of music by Rozsa I ever heard (via the rerecording by Carlo Savina and the Rome Symphony Orchestra).

  • solo miklos rozsa sintió la grandeza de cristo es sus composiciones. es una de las mejores peliculas del siglo XX

  • This is the greatest movie prelude of all time. I have a different version of this, from the album "Miklos Rozsa Conducts his Epic Film Scores". VERY different than this version, with different emphasis on instruments. I'm going to make a montage video of ancient Egyptian temples using this music.

  • Maravilhoso - Jonatan Brazil

  • Answer to 09090707: the same happens to me everytime I hear the music for this movie. I have seen it more than 30 times.

  • this theme made me think about the greatness and beauty of Yeshua and the tears suddenly filled my eyes

  • Fabulous! For me, Rozsa is the greatest film composer of them all and a great composer period. Yes, yes, I know: Korngold, Steiner, Newman, Herrmann, Holdredge, Williams, and several others may lay claim to that title, but IMO nobody comes close to the epic grandeur and passionate romance of Rozsa's music.

  • IF you watch the interview with him in the previn and the pittsburg symphony pbs series he said he didnt unlike the score to ben hur but he seemed to like quo vadis and el cid better.

  • a little slower than how it was done in the movie, but still a hell of an epic score for an epic movie.

  • And a hell of a conductor; its Rozsa himself!

  • it is a pity we don't have the image of this conducting of Rozsa! - must be really intense!

  • @ShakespeareHamlet ...The tempo here is as it was written by Dr. Rozsa. The tempo of the film recording was "sped up" a bit to match the opticals and the timing of the opening credits. This piece reflects the way Dr. Rozsa intended the music to be .
