Contrary to popular belief, men have emotions and get hurt too. Yes, we are more robust and masculine, however- tell both sides. Specifically, there are women who target the men who are weaker and growing and get them interested in them so that they can turn them down when they are asked out for no other reason than for them to feel superior or to demonstrate their control, or to be vindictive because of how someone else treated them.
For anyone getting their panties in a wad over Matt saying 'jackass', check yo'self. There's a difference between using strong language and expletives. This is strong language in it's rightful place; Paul even uses the Greek form of 'shit' to compare things of this world to things of God! An example of expletives would be saying something like "Holy shit". The Bible uses strong language, but rebukes expletives. There is a huuuge difference. Try reading the Word of God before passing judgement.
umm can they play this over a loud speaker for the whole world to hear? where's the rest of this??? and jackass is not a curse word when he's referring to someone acting like a donkey..
So I just want to say this. People getting all bent out of shape over the word "jackass" really shows something. For one, Jesus used strong language in dealing with the Pharisees, calling them "a brood of vipers" and "hypocrites" Believe it or not, calling someone a hypocrite is like saying jackass because it is an attack on their character and should be used only in extreme cases. Secondly, the guys are supposed to lead, and if they're not doing that, they need to not do anything. If they want-
Thanks Matt! at least ONE guy got it right! Praise God, I need the courage to say those specific words to a specific someone, smh! Praise God! We need more men who are sooo passionate about Jesus that they bloody grow the heck up!
I am like this Mr. Chandler got the message across, but I wish he didn't cuss to get the point across. In the past when my pastors cussed, it was unintentional and they regarded it. They also apologized, or asked to have to cuss word taken out of the sermon. Mr. Chandler could have done the same thing. Or better yet, the person who recorded it and posted it up here.
Some guys just simply lack the communications skills or confidence to ask a woman out on a date because it's either not in their nature, or were sheltered by their parents or for whatever other reason. And a pastor snidely calling them "ignorant jackasses" and "little boys" is completely uncalled for and not representative of God's love.
@lakebay972 he's talking to the guys who're already in the game of dating. not those too scared to jump in. if you actually listen instead of being offended he says: "stop playing with their hearts; grow up." meaning to those guys playing around with girls and not being serious about relationships.
He swore, and "Christians" are giving him props for it, or "man points"? Are you serious? I get it...people swear. It can be a struggle. But to stand there and swear in one's preaching and to be praised for it? Not sure what's worse: the preacher, or fellow YouTube "Christians."
@Xallia621 alright, i'm pretty sure you have cussed sometime in your life before too! and as for swearing in general, the bible says not to use profanity, but it got the message across didn't it? besides, we are all human and imperfect.
This dude is dead wrong! Sorry, but he is! First off.. he executed his point just fine without having to cuss. It's an obvious shock attempt to become "controversial" and "popular". Second.. no one is 100% exactly sure how they feel about a woman when they first start dating, that's the concept of dating (getting to know them). Most mature people know that if your dating there is a chance your not going to get married.
Last of all, he seems to speak for every woman as if he knows their heart's.
He sounds like a angry man.It is important to know what a woman needs from a Godly man. This is about "being a student of your wife" as Paul tells us do.HIs tone,is angry though and I believe this leads to hash language and condemnation. He should focus on his point and "tell men about the loving grace of God and his forgivness".This is what leads to good works, the goodness of God!
I like Pastor Chandler, however, he should not be using profanity in sermons. That makes us look like the "cool" church. Pastor Chandler, please don't do that, it doesn't make any of us look Godly. God Bless!
as someone who had his heart broken by a girl i would love for this double standard way of thinking to end in the church we ARENT always the ones playing with peoples hearts and girls should be also held responsible GUY are ALSO children of God and should be treated as such
@DeJay17Revolution I never understood why the church can't let go of double standards. Both genders have had bad expeeiences.Women have sex with men and leave them with a broken heart.Women are never held accountable for causing any pain. The problem stems from the belief women are weaker emotionally. This is not true but the church sees women as weak in every sense. Then men are expected to have no feelings. It's not fair to either gender.
@DeJay17Revolution I like that, the wife/woman should treat the husband/man as a Son of God (I am guessing with respect, reverence, and submissiveness, as a strong leader or head), and the husband/man should treat the wife/woman as a Daughter of God (with gentleness, tenderness, and as a precious thing as someone weaker, like fine china or an artistic masterpiece).
For top philosophy of religion & sceptical analysis of Bible & religion try Robert M Price, John W. Loftus, Dan Barker, Victor J. Stenger. E.A.Wallis Budge translation of, 'The Papyrus of Ani' (1500BCE comp O.T.800-300BCE ish), Donald A. Mackenzie,' Egyptian myth and legend', James G Frazer, 'The Golden Bough', Thomas Paine, Joseph Wheless, Robert Ingersoll, C.Dennis Mckinsey, Bart Ehrman, ZomGitsCriss, Christopher Hitchens, Valerie Tarico, Ken Humphreys, Israel Finkelstein , Richard Dawkins
There's a shock value in calling people jackasses, maybe it serves to get people's attention. Men don't deal well with emotions, and the area of relationships is difficult for them to navigate. A young man's heart can be just as broken as a young women's but he is expected not to show pain. So, calling someone a jackass with the hopes of changing their behavior may not be the most effective approach. I get the gist of what he's saying though.
@altriego1 Your point is well stated altriego.....This is a gimmick ,talking like a drill sargeant. It is also important to note that in long range studies on psycho/social reception to being taught new behavior, negative reinforcement never works.People who have studied Neuro linguistic programing will attest to this!..I hope he stays firm but ecourages enstead of gimmickery and "Harsh language".
@MrBlakemiller.... because men have a major responsibility in the chain of power god has systematically set up and in this day and age, most of the "BOYS" out here are screwing up the work in the body of christ by being leeches......(it is the truth)....
I hate that whenever one of the New Calvinist pastors (I'm thinking of Driscoll and Chandler especially) ever takes time to speak to just young men, they always tell them how much they suck. Why does that group and no other need such constant and blatant reprimand?
@MrBlakeMiller Guys like Driscoll and Chandler reprimand young men most likely because they realize that somebody has to do it. If these boys fathers would do it their pastors would not have to. Also if these boys have no father/uncles/grandfathers in their lives, who would you expect to do it? Watch more than just a few sermons by these guys and you will see they do not all bad mouth young men. Many of their sermons are very helpful.
@RockDude98 but remember that we young guys often shoot ourselves down and let young christian girls get away with doing the same thing I think both of the genders need to be held accountable
@MrBlakeMiller I do agree that they often speak negatively towards young men. We are to lift others up as Christians. But James 5:20 tells us, "let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins." So we are to be bold in telling others what they are doing "wrong". And 1 Corinthians 1:11 says that men are the Glory of God. So I think they/we judge our guys more than we judge our ladies.
I guess he is speaking about after your friends. You could keep as just friends, or break it totally to avoid temptation with someone who is not compatible spiritually. Am I reading this correctly?
Got to give this guy credit for telling it like it is. If more people were this straightforward, open and honest, perhaps relationships would be based on better and more moral standards, couples wouldn't bullshit each other, and the divorce rate wouldn't be so high.
@JohnCBooger - i think your ridiculous. come on. ya hear of thousands of little kids dying every day and its almost shrugged off. this man says jackass and you nearly take a fit.
quit being so religious. when the bible uses the term ''brood of vipers'' its a worse comment than jackass.
I love it when pastors act like men and cuss out the little boys who need to get their crap straight. Reminds me of when some dude named Jesus told a bunch of religious weirdos that their mom shacked up with the devil and the result was themselves. True story!
@greizenbregen Are you talking about a different Jesus? The Bible never mentioned anything about the parents of the religious teachers in the New Testament.
