  • This is part of Mononoke Hime's soundtrack.....

  • @reese1796

correct by a wester guy on the Shakuhachi. his name is in the notes...

    Have a nice day

    :)

  • Where are all the tourists?

I went there today and yes, it does look like this but with lots of people all around.

  • @Kognito72

Sorry to hear that. Right now is peak season for people that want to see the koyo.

I went of the beaten path on a rainy day and at a later hour than most tourists would like to.

To me, Nikko is more relaxing and beautiful that way.

  • @msli1985

    BTW

There is a HD version of these clips too if you'd like to actually see the place a little better...

  • @msli1985

    Happy you liked the clips.

    : )

  • Listening to this brought me to tears.

  • @Shaela69

I hope that wasn't because of the poor quality of the clip ; )

Thanks for leaving a comment, have a nice weekend.

  • @Shaela69

I hope that those tears weren't because of the poor quality of the clip ; )

Thanks for leaving a comment, have a nice weekend.

  • @Peekingduck Haha No. It was the music, it's very beautiful and after the recent tragedy in Japan it became very emotional.

Thank you, I hope you have a safe and nice weekend as well.

  • @Shaela69

    Thanks !

It's been a pretty surreal day and night.

I was in a luck area but many weren't.

    Be well

    : )

  • @Peekingduck Nikko is the 3rd largest "city" strictly in terms of area.

    from Wikipedia;

"The post-merger city of Nikkō covers a large area (1,449.87 km²) of rural northwestern Tochigi. It is the third-largest city (by area) in Japan, behind Takayama and Hamamatsu."

For example, Nasu is now part of Nikko, so it's technically an attraction within Nikko.

The real "city" center is Imaichi, 9 km west tourist Nikko.

It's a fun fact to play with and debate and certainly makes for good conversation.

I lived in the country where they have the largest japanese population outside

    japan. (In asia)

Thailand isn't that bad but only thing bothers me is the weather wise.

    Happy you liked the clip.

I hope you get to visit Nikko. It's a nice place.

And, I do believe Thailand is extremely beautiful too, though I haven't been there.

    : )

  • its just amazing -I cant find words to describe this beauty -for me Japan its a miracle - If I get there one day I will sit for hours to notice everything around because there are so many fascinating things - I could say that there its everything magic yeah ..

  • This is how I invision Japan. So peaceful and serene. xo

  • Yup, this Japan to me too.

Full of tall trees and little streams.

Nikko gets it's fair share of tourists though.

But off the beaten track.. it's gorgeous..

    : )

  • I want to go to a rural Japanese town so badly! They look so beautiful!

  • I'm sure you will then. Japan has a way of pulling people that like it, to itself

    I'm kind'a partial to the country-side myself.

Nikko is a nice place even though it can get infested with tourists at certain times of year.

    It's a beautiful place.

  • @Peekingduck

how is in in april you think?

  • @ITsHardstyle

Maybe a little rainy but that means less tourists.

Nikko is in the mountains so the weather changes in a heartbeat.

Still beautiful as April means spring and maybe Cherry trees blooming.

    Might be perfect too actually..

  • @Peekingduck

    Thanks=)

  • @ITsHardstyle

    my pleasure

    : )

  • this song is in princess mononoke

  • That's 100 % correct.

    japan is so wonderful!

  • The song is called 'Mononoke Hime' from the album 'Leonard and his friends' (You can buy it from iTunes) and it is played by a genius by the name of Marco Lienhard.

    Glad you liked the clip.

    Thanks for the kind words

  • beautiful

  • Thanks !

    Happy you liked it.

You avatar (Fudo-myo) is really nice BTW.

The HD version of this video is a bit better as far as picture quality goes.

You'll like it in real life too I'm sure.

Nikko is very nice. Maybe that's why

I can't stop shooting these videos...

Hard not to fall in love with the place.

  • what is the music called

  • It's the theme from 'mononoke hime' played by a man I think is a genius Marco Leonard. Part of the reason for this clip is to pay him some kind of tribute.

You'll find it on iTunes store.

  • that music was so beautiful, it brought a tear to my eyes.

  • Glad you like it.

I do too an I'm a big fan of Marco's playing.

  • kocham to miejsce, znow tam wrocę!!!!

  • Truly beautiful.

  • Thanks !

    : )

  • is japan a good place to settle?

  • Well, it depends.

I do believe everyone gets a culture shock (small or large) when settling. It is very different to Europe (USA?) and there isn't as much freedom to be an individual. But there are other rewards and adventures.

You have the same type of people in Japan as everywhere else i.e good ones and bad. But in general the Japanese are pretty friendly and very very honest.

Though the stereotype of the japanese person is a myth just as much as all stereotypes are.

    I like it here.

  • is it easy to shift? u know, like jobs, schools finding houses etc

  • It depends on what job you are looking for I guess.

The work-culture here is different. Most of the times we are told that japanese people work extremely hard. I don't think that is the case necessarily. They are at the office for many hours, but I think a guy at for example Toyota and a guy at Volvo have a totally different work structure.

Europe seems more sensibly organized a lot of the time.

Housing can be tricky... reluctancy to rent to foreigners etc is common, you'll need a guarantor.

  • che meraviglia! bravo! wonderful japan :-)

  • Thank you so much !

  • Beautiful wish to go to japan someday.

  • Thanks a lot.

    Japan's a nice place.

    Hope your wish comes true

  • Beautiful! I'm flying out to Japan next week and my mother has Nikko planned as one of our destinations. I wanted Disneyland, but I'm so glad she insisted on Nikko.

  • Nikko beats Disney every time...

Hope you'll have a really good time over here.

  • I'm back from Japan and I loved Nikko! It was so cold, we woke up to snow! We didn't get to see the falls though; too cloudy.

  • Sorry to hear about the clouds

  • Thanks

    Glad you liked it.

This version of the Princess Mononoke music is played by 'Marco Lienhard' who's musical skills I really envy.

Just keep saving a little and before you know it you'll have enough to get on the plane.

all the best of luck to you

  • Thank you so much for the lovely video! It really made me relax. I will go to Japan next month and will definitely go to Nikko. Were the pictures taken in a park? Do you happen to know the name?

    Thanks again,

    Hug from Brazil,

    Juan

  • Thanks

    : )

Most of the footage is taken around 'Hotoke no Iwa'...

But others stay on 'the beaten track' around 'Toshogu shrine' etc.

Nikko is best on foot and I'm sure you will love it.

Ask for a map at the Tourist information center in the station building and I'm sure they'll help you find the spots.

    hope you'll enjoy your visit.

  • Ooops!... Almost forgot..

Nikko is in the mountains and the best spots are inbreeded in the cedar forests so dress well.

  • *_______________________* beautiful!!!!

  • Happy you liked it.

  • very nice! the song that is covered is from the movie mononoke hime by hayao miyazaki

  • tack for denna - halsningar fran Sverige, - ett ord - ro!

  • : D

    Thanks

  • I agree with Kusanagijoy and am ready to make my pilgrimage to Nikko. What a wonderful video! I like that you included the ambient sounds of each clip along with the music though I also like your other videos where music alone is used. You seem to have a good sense of which approach works best. While watching your videos the term "video photography" comes to mind as each shot has the quality of a fine photograph. I hope that this makes sense as it is a rare and special talent you have. -Kurt :-)

  • : )

You are far to kind. I was just lucky I think.

Glad you liked it though : D

Still waiting for the next one from you.

  • U did a fantastic job putting the video and sound together....it really works!

  • Thank you so much.

    : )

I'm so happy you like it.

  • Thanks

    : D

  • This video/movie and music are matched very well and it is SOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful! I really like it!! I personally never visited Nikko yet even I'm Japanese person who living in this country... but I'd like to go and see this beautiful place at once. (^O^)v
