This is so great! I want to do this with my Aiptek AHD H5 Extreme. Can your confirm or deny that I can do that with few worries?
Also, considering the structure of the H5 Extreme, I dont think I'll be able to use a 35mm prime lens, so I need to use a TV lens like this, if it is in fact more narrow.
Assuming that this lens is made for probably 16mm cameras, could I make it capture about the same amount of space as a 35mm lens by putting a wide angle lens on the end of it?
@JThoerning Hi! That depends sole on the size of the sensor. One way to figure it out it's to look on the original lens. The lens you can put on must be on the same focal length of the original (or pretty close). If the focal distance of the lens is longer then the original, you will have a telephoto effect. If it's shorter, you will have a wider angle or, in some cases, vignage. In that case, the image will not iluminate the entire sensor.
Hi Fishycomics! The wider the lens, the lower the F ration. The lower the F ration, more sensitive to low light the camera will be. That's because the wider the lens, more light it will gather. But be carefull about the focal distance. Longer focal distances will result in a zoom effect. Single lens will result in cromatic aberrations, like false colors and rainbow effects. Optics can be very trick. By the way, I like very much your Aiptek videos! Congratulations!
Hi! I just wanted to use the camera in some place other than lited by the SUN. I just have the lens sitting on a drawer and this awful camcorder also unused. I just put the two together. Now, I can use the Aiptek to shoot in darker environments and also use the 15x optical zoom. Just that.
My aiptek is the DV3500. The DV4500 it's very similar. The only diference is that the DV4500 have a INTERPOLATED resolution of 4MP, while the DV3500 have only 3MP. But both only have a REAL (sensor) resolution of 2 MegaPixels. So, it's pretty much the same...
I just ordered that camra you know, with out the super lens for a total price, with shpping and the memery card, on aiptek dot com, I paaid about 70 dollers, can you please tell me what this camra's reviw was before the super lens thinge.
My review of the original camera: You need a VERY BRIGHT place to film. So, you can mainly use the original outdoors, during the day. Withot the sunligh, you need a very big lamp to bright the enviroment enough tho have a clear picture. The super lens solve this problem.
My question to you, how did you know that THIS canon lens was the right lens for this camera? just tinkered until you got something? I'm planning to do the same with a few aipteks I have, it gives a very interesting look to it.
THe main question to seek when swaping lens is the FOCAL DISTANCE of the lens. This Canon lens have similar focal distance then the original aiptek's. The biger the focal distance, biger the zoom the lens will give.
That lens was give to me by a friend. The original cam was a old VHS video camera. Since all the video cameras, no matter how old they are, have a small CCD, then the lens of old VHS video cameras will do just fine on the modern digital low cost camcorders.

Sorry pal. I don't think I can make a video any more complete than this. But be free to ask me anything you want...

No problem actually. I decided to do a bit of math and I got some work done.

would it be possible to make a step by step instructional video?
I'm doing some research on solid state CMOS sensor camcorders and that would be fantastic.

that camra is called the dv4500, and it has 4 mega oixel max, you just have to change it in the opions, or atleat that is the camra I bought

ok, thanks, but it said that it went up to 4 mega pixels on aiptek dot com though

Ok. I know that the DV4500 went up to 4 MP. But this camera it's not the DV4500. It's the DV3500, a OLD MODEL that Aiptek don't manufacture any more.

I see. Good choice then.
How much does this TV canon lens cost? and where would be a good place to find it?
