I just watched one of his old performances on idol, a poor attempt at Damien Rice. Ugh, it truly lacked emotion and made me cringe. Good to see he's improved now...
@Elttee The chords are very similar as Hallelujah as its not a recurring use of 4/2 chords, similar structure.. but im thinking of the melody of the vocals between the start and till 20 seconds.. ahh! Its so frustrating cause I know i have heard it before.
I'm extremely glad Matt made his own path after Idol. It would have been a true waste for him to fall into the popular mainstream teenybopper genres... his style is truly raw, powerful, and beautiful. Just bought this album, well done Matt!
Just bought the Communion Compilation album which ends with this lovely song. Had never heard of Matt Corby before. I bought the album because I liked Marcus Foster, Johnny Flynn, Matthew and the Atlas, and Mumford and Sons. Very cool to hear all the emerging folk talent coming out of UK and Australia.
such a fantastic vocalist. Probably a good thing he didn't win australian idol so he could grow and sing HIS songs not the songs a company shove infront of your face. he is so much better now.
This wonderful song will be on an album due out in Australia in a couple of months. It's being released by Communion Australia and will feature a variety of Australian & UK Communion artists. If you want album info, message me.
this is awesome, seen some recent versions and the tune gets a bit lost ,but this is great

Good good! I wanted to buy the album but I couldn't find it readily in Australia. Gives me something to look forward to!
Charge ahead Mr Corby, you keep getting better and better.

@setapartforgood yes, it will be good when it's finally released here! That will be later in 2010, though I'm not sure what month at this stage.
Light Home and another song called My False both will be available on Itunes in Australia, around May 21st.

I'd really like the lyrics for this. I can't really understand some of it, and I'd love to cover it.
