I have a recording of this that my brother made from the first time it was on HBO in '83. The opening credit says just "Star Trek - The Wrath of Khan" as opposed to "Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan".
THIS is how I know my Star Trek to be. Who cares about super high-def blue superwhamadyne amzingness. I want my VHS grain and tiny audio. That was part of the experience!
Are you joking with that comment? What is so great about watching Star Trek on low quality VHS? Blu-ray high def is the way to go. Thanks to blu-ray and 1080p, Star Trek can be watched the way it was meant to be seen and recreate the cinematic experience. There's no way you can get that experience on VHS regardless if it was part of your childhood.
@ooOmegaSupremeoo Unfortunately the Star Trek Blu-Rays are pretty badly mastered. They have tons of DNR and EE done to them so they almost look cartoony. So much detail is obliterated on those releases. It's why I've stuck with my DVD releases. That and the lack of Directors Cuts.
in my opinion best opening credits to a star trek film ever compare to ST TMP the opening credits was just a black screen way to simplistic in my mind this opening credits to me with the starry galaxy really set the exiating tone of the whole movie the whole to boldly go where no one has gone before kind of way
Most Paramount Video releases went straight from the warning screen to the opening logo of the films. The 1979 and 1982 Paramount Home Video logos only appeared on VHS releases of films not made but distributed by Paramount, and Paramount's TV shows ("The Brady Bunch," "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley").
@ThePreviewsGuyReturn Instead of putting capital letters on the first letter of every word you speak use lowercase letters (except for the start of a sentence) or something like that.
Oh, man. I can still hear the wavering distortion of those super high opening tones in my dreams.

Nicholas Meyers actually wrote the screenplay (as well as directed), but because of a Writer's Guild technicality didn't get the credit for it.

@ooOmegaSupremeoo Because that's how it was released? I think you failed to understand the point of my comment.
Shitty VHS quality is what I grew up with, and that is what I miss.

@ooOmegaSupremeoo I suppose after watching this you went to look for one in your precious "HD". Who needs it?
