  • looks like they're doing a whole lotta nothin'..,

  • Info: the guy in the Blue is Adolfo Quinones AKA 'Shabba Doo' who went on and starred in Breakin' 1& 2, and choreographed dance sequences in various movies (the poplock scene in Xanadu). He's come a long way

  • These dudes went in!!

  • anyone know the song?

  • Just wanna point out that this style of dancing is called Locking and not poplocking. There really is no such thing as poplocking. Locking and popping are two different styles. They both developed in California in the 70's,early 70's for Locking and late 70's for popping. I guess people got them mixed togther in their minds.

  • @CrowdPleeza Poplocking was the initial name for popping. It was changed eventually to disconnect it from locking and present it as a separate dance, but some people still use the term "poplock", mainly to refer to the oldschool popping.

  • what do u think happens after we die?

  • Thanks! I didn't know that! How did you? lol

  • Black guy seen at 1:21 is Danielle Spencer's (Dee Thomas) real life father! He's dead though. Died shortly after appearing on this show.

  • Dem boys got off!!!!!!!!!!

  • that guy with the orange clothes reminds me of the dj from Yo Gabba Gabba

  • yeeeess!! another favorite episode! Raj is HILARIOUS!

  • lmao @ Gary! I spit my juice out!

  • lol I remember watching this episode. lol. Classic tv show. Love it! Man the shows today suck. Bring a show like the Cosby show. No more reality tv! Please!

  • i was dancing like this after i divorced my wife.

  • @garychldress74 DUDE, WHAT YOU SAID JUST MADE MY WHOLE WEEK!!! I have not laughed this hard in a while!!!!!! Thanks!!!

  • When I was little I had no idea Rerun was part of a dance troupe before Whats Happening. I used to wonder why he always broke into dance during the show. I always looked forward to it.

  • 日本のファンキーフルーツを見るべし!!!

  • this is as far back as i can go with poplocking oldskool style.

  • The First ABDC! haha

  • Wow, these old clips are great! I havent seen this clip since forever. I recall watching an interview with singer/dancer Toni Basil, of Oh Mickey fame saying that she helped this group work out choreography. I was surprised to hear that.

  • @hmorganman , to my knowledge Toni started the dance troupe

  • These guys are no jive turkeys!

  • Say What?

  • Rerun's daughter is in a modeling contest over at the ExploreModeling website, Portia Allen. Help support Rerun's daughter in the contest! :)

  • The What's Happening Band was the s--t!! That soundtrack!! I need it!

  • What is the name of this song playing?

  • the songs were done just for the show so I heard!

  • my cousin in the green pants.. he 's locked up now

  • Love this shit! Whats the name of the music in the begining?

  • THAT ENDING IS TOO FUNNY !!!!!!! Always my favorite scene ! LOL

  • this is me an my lil sister favorite episode!! i jst hate that its off demand now..

  • I love this episode

  • Can anybody tell me the music that was playing while they were getting down. That was a hot disco...

  • These are actually reimaginings of actual disco songs that were out at the time. The titles of those, I cannot help you with. So it was probably a waste of time for me to respond.

  • nah man thanks for the come back. sooooome body will know who that cut is from uno.

  • @mphk55 In that episode it was a loose interpretation of "Disco Connetion" by Isaac Hayes. What's Happening also used "Get Down Get Funky Get Loose" by the late Teddy Pendergrass. I hope this helps. Peace.

  • Yo Big Bru thanks a mil!!!!!

  • I actually miss spelled that. It was, "Disco Connection". If you have any trouble finding these tracks, let me know. Glad to help.

  • Right on bro.....Big Bru you have been a huh BIG help...lol.

  • No disrespect to Boog though. Boog is cool.

  • Is this Bamboozeled?

  • Anyone know the song that was playing...that was way too funky!

  • Where can you find a tutorial on how to do this dance...they move so fast it is impossible to lock in on what they are doing. I am considered a pretty good rerun (pop n'lock'r), but I know I've only hit the tip of the iceberg with many of the moves.

  • Dude,,,the only tutorial for this was someroom bodies living room back in the day and watching them every time they (the original Lockers) were on TV,,, I tried and though I was pretty good---freaked out some people when I broke out in 81 .doing that at my Pro-Show for the frat

  • shabadoo look horrified when raj started dancin!!!!

  • Fred "Re-Run" Barry was actually a members of the Lockers along with Tony Basil who had a pop hit with the song "Hey Mickey" in the early 1980's

  • i play this shit right here when i need to restore my SOUL=SOL=SUN!!!

  • 2:08 was the best one to me....black people have soullllllllllllllll

  • now when an animator or cartoonist can capture that shit, point by point, then you can say you're the truth.

  • campell lock jr(1st guy)kills it. the cat doing the robot did the best robot you'll EVER c in this century. the lockers baby!!!!!

  • nobody in the world can do the robot better than micheal jackson i swear 2 you! SEARCH dancing machine Jackson 5. Micheal has the sickest robot ever

  • His robot looks the same as Michaels except he is doing it a little slower because this is a slower tempo song than "Dancing Machine"

  • you're right, mike did do a sick robot. but jpfromflint is right that mike is doing his to a faster tempo. but mike's is sick no doubt. but this cat from the lockers just has the shit so well coordinated. he's just on time with his shit. i still say his is the best.

  • actually micheal jackson learned his robot from michael 'Boogaloo Shrimp' Chambers, who he also learned how to do the moonwalk from. michael chambers never gets credit for that, but it is true, he taught him the moonwalk, and he was MJ's personal dance coach. MJ picked him as his personal dance coach because of his more robotic style of dance. so actually michael chambers has the best robot ever! just look him up you'll see

  • you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Michael Jackson was doing his famous robot when Boogaloo was still boogalooing to Sesame Street. he may have taught MJ the moonwalk during the early 80s break dance craze, but that's it!

  • dude like i said, just look it up, you'll find out all about it, and how boogaloo Shrimp is never givin credit for teaching mike alot of the moves and stuff he did, i mean how you gone say boogaloo aint got the best robot!..you obviously have never seen Urkle Bot, i mean if you didnt know it was a reall person, you would have actually thot that it was an actuall ROBOT!!!...dude is the best hands down, and im done!!!

  • Comment removed

  • look it up my ass. I don't know what kind of bullshit you read but I know from experience. I'm old enough to be your daddy and I saw MJ and his brothers from the very beginning. you're fuckin 17 years old and you're gonna tell me that boogaloo taught MJ the robot?? I don't give a fuck about some damn Urkle Bot or whatever the fuck it is. Mike was turning heads with his robot before boogaloo even knew what a robot was.

  • "actually micheal jackson learned his robot from michael 'Boogaloo Shrimp' Chambers" that's exactly what you said you little idiot! you're the one who's ignorant of the situation. I'm talking about what I actually saw and was a part of in the 70's and early 80's and I can't believe I'm arguing with a kid who was sucking his momma's titties in 1992 LOL!

  • Hmmm.. I don't see how taking what ..2 mins..of my time to reply to a little idiot equates to me being on the computer all day at 40 years old with mama. But I should expect a little kid to be stupid like that, especially one who's admitted to being on the computer all day blogging. Which means YOU'RE the one with no fucking life, can't get a girl and most likely a fat ass too. LOL! If you were my son I'd spank your little fat blogging ass! LOL! Later kid...it's been fun. LOL!

  • fres you're just mad cause he proved you wrong. you did say Boogaloo taught Michael the robot and that is BS. I guess I'm a "40 year old loser" now too. Michael first blew up the spot with his robot performing Dancing Machine with his brothers on the show Soul Train back in like 73, 74 when Boogaloo was carrying a lunch box to kindergarten. Boog taught Mike some street dance in the 80s. But Mike was mesmerizing people with his robot and dancing long before some Boogaloo.

  • and...who asked you!?!?...lol, ya'll kill me, lol...yeah, umm i already explained myself and proved my point, dont feel like doin it again...save ur breath, oh yeah and if you feel like commenting back negetively, then in advance, ima just go ahead and tell you to go play in traffic....K!, thanx

  • @vivacco2

You and whoever ur talking to need to fix urself a nice butt hurt sanwich with a dick on the side and a plate of testicles.

  • it was more so the electric boogaloos who taught mike. they have documentary on it and everything. to prove it, popin taco from eb has been at michael side ever since captain eo. thats why when they dance they look so similar

  • @vivacco2 Mike must have met Boogaloo back in 73 or 74 , because that's how long MJ has been doing the robot to Dancing Machine !

  • @vivacco2 hi i am the nephew of don campbell & i am laughin my ass off !loll suckin tittie sin 92 hahaah so wa si but she wasnt my mom lol

  • @vivacco2 hi i am the nephew of don campbell & i am laughin my ass off !loll suckin titties in 92 hahaah so was i but she wasnt my mom lol

  • Yeah hes mistaken Michael learned ticking from Boogaloo not the robot...

  • vivacco2 Im a bit young but I know Mike was doing all this shit back in the early 70's what mike learned from boog was the moonwalk he saw him in breakin and was enamored with boogs moonwalking skills which he took lessons from him. Then mike released that shit on the world on the mowtown 25 show, and made the moonwalk a houshold move.

  • I'm trying to track down some of the history of this talent... Can you tell us more? You may be interested to know I saw a perfect moonwalk done by a guy in a 1940's clip of tap dancers. Yes, 1940's. I find it fascinating how anything can be brought in from anytime/anywhere and learned to put together a new routine or create a style. Even some of the lockers moves going to the ground can clearly show a connection to the first breakdancing, a little here and there... anything goes

  • that's true, MJ was roboting before boogaloo, the first time i saw roboting was when MJ did it on the jacksons variety show and i don't think boogaloo started doing it until the 80's, both were great at locking and MJ had his own style and was on a whole nother level in the 80's while boogaloo was one of the kings of breakdancing in the 80's, both of these men are amazing when it comes to dancing and i have a great deal of respect for both

  • Tyrone Procter or the Robert Man that won American Bandstand and Soul Trains Dance contest--- I think Dametta Jo Freeman was his partner

  • shittin me,his robot is good but no where near is good as Micheal Jacksons' i can back up everything i say dude, search Jackson 5 dancing machine,Now thats the sickest robot you will ever see

  • da beat and dances r both sick

  • dope dope dope

  • So awesome..you can't tell me for a second that rerun isn't the major influence of pop'n lock....

  • The Song is

    Disco Connection by Issac Hayes

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!! THANK YOOOOOU! Like so many others, I've spent hours, months, YEARS looking for the name of this song! I've been searching for it all day, and it is now 10 minutes before midnight! I thought it was Kool and the Gang, so I listened to samples from nearly every one of Kool's albums. And then I thought it was Quincy Jones!

  • Shaba-Doo kills it!!!

  • Raj is too funny!

  • This beat is sick. Does anyone know the name?

  • Fred Berry RIP. sorry to see you go.

  • what song is this foo

  • If anyone has seen breakin or breakin 2 Ozone was the one in the blue suit. This was a funny episode and thanks for uploading

  • Well Rerun (Fred Barry) Got his start from the group in real life

  • right and he was also the leader of the group to he also started that group RIP RERUN

  • does anyone know what music track this is i want it, its HOT!!

  • The music was made especially for the show.

  • repost it! this is classic! It starts fuckin up at 0:32

  • It switches like that because I cut out the non dance scenes from the episode. Trust me I didn't miss anything.

  • @Agentxg7g No disrespect Agentxg but dogshit7 has got a point. You hear skipping and clicking in the track and you missed a little of the dance in the second clip. If you can, could you please re-post....this IS a classic!!

  • @Agentxg7g Your video edits are fine, it's the AUDIO that gets screwed up at 0:32. The volume levels get really unstable and remain that way for the rest of the video.

  • nice ending

  • That is the best dancing ever. I miss those day when I was a little kid. Nobody pop locks anymore.

  • Just to clarify.... there is NO such thing as "POPLOCK"! Popping and locking are 2 TOTALLY different styles of dance! It's kind offensive to lockers to call them "poplockers", since there ain't no such thing. There are many lockers that pop, but ain't no such thing as a "pop-lock".

If anyone questions that, just ask Don Campbell... he made that very clear at the World Locking Battles of 2008!

  • I stands corrected. After all,Don Campbell is the inventor of this universal dance. I say universal because even bug eyed Aliens can learn to lock.

  • What??? What does that mean?

  • I mean that even if aliens from another world landed and saw peo0le locking they would want to learn to lock too, see?

  • All they pop is ass and pussy now.

  • These are the best at what they do and anybody that says so otherwise can suck my d&*%!

  • This is real lockin. The people on america's best dance crew and got shit on these fools. What's the name of the song in the beginning?

  • Campbellock, Jr is a beast. I talked to him on myspace awhile back. He still locking and encourages other to do it too.

  • Africans always creatin' that fly ish that Changes the WORLD!

Peace to Raj's bony ass tryin to rock that Re-Run type ish! lol!!!

  • yo this shit is sick...these dances are hot, nobody dances like that anymore...all everybody wanna do is shake their ass and pop lock and drop it.

  • that's not true man. this was the original op and lockin'. if fred berry were alive he would love the dances now. this is like america's best dance crew

  • cant believe this is ozone, and his signature air guitar move.

  • WOW! THOSE ARE MY BOYS RIGHT THERE! MACKADOO WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE! shabadoo and rerun were cool also.

  • love those Cracks!!!!!! BAD ASS tune!!!

  • I used to call Rerun Fat-stick when I was a child, and I have no idea why.

  • do anybody know what's the name of the song that's playing

  • I know the original is Disco Connection by Issac Hayes. This is a slightly different version of it.

  • good lookin thanks a lot

  • OMG looking at this just made me realize where all of this came from, if you look at the old old movies with black people in them such as minstel show movies the suits the hats the dancing it just evoled at time went on.

  • This dance isn't from the Minstrel Shows. If you already know then forget I said anything. But this dance is Locking, created by Don "Campbellock" Campbell in the early 70's. The clothing is meant to look commical, which may or may not have gotten it's roots from Vaudville or the Minstrel Shows.

  • Can I just say these costumes are amazing?

  • They Look like Dancing Pimps !

  • The Guy @ 1:25 was in Breaking the movie

    RIP ReRun

  • yeah, its Ozone.

  • ozone died ? when ?

  • ozone didn't die - fred berry did

ozone still dances and all that in cali

  • lol 1aaronwaugh The Guy @ 1:25 was in Breaking the movie RIP ReRun koolmac68 yeah, its Ozone. RICARDOAGUAS ozone died ? when ? drevsdre9 ozone didn't die - fred berry did ozone still dances and all that in cali
  • yep in LA he rollin wit the krump kings an doin all type of choreography for some movies an shyt

  • of course..everybody knows that

  • re run was so sick with it!

  • what song was playing?

  • Holy shit this is awesome! I am a huge fan of "The Re Rerun" It's my signature move and this is by far the best re-run video I've ever seen posted. It's got so many different moves and styles. This is the original shit!!! Most others don't run this long. Great Post!!

  • just to let you know, this is on the What's Happening DVD, the 1st episode from 1976...ever heard of the show..? you can buy the DVD if you like...i have it...:)

  • that barely showed rerun dance at all! wtf?!?

  • You know something your right! I will change the title when I get a chance.

  • this is one of the greatest dances out there!

  • I saw this episode when I was a kid in the 80's. How did Raj end up onstage? LOL

  • lol...rerun went to the tryouts to get into the group...him and roger left and dwayne went back to get his magazine and overheard that the "rockets"(lockers) wanted rerun in the group because he would be good for a comedy act-so they could tell fat jokes about him on stage...well, dwayne told the guys and they played a trick on the Rockets because they thought rerun was coming on stage...priceless!!!!:)

  • Thanks! It's all coming back to me now. That was hilarious.

  • the way the music starts is funky as HELL!!! The good old days, when we were'nt concerned with looking hard, just moving our bodies and having fun!

  • That's Adolpho Quinones from Breakin'! He is fine!

  • aka Shabbo Doo...and he's STILL FIIIINE!

  • I never even knew that fred berry was a locker until recently. Its clever the way they wrote an episode revolving around the dance group. If Im not mistaken, I think the story was that rerun wanted to audition to dance with them and they only hired him cuz he was fat, and they thought it would be funny. thats all i rememeber. if thats even right. I just got an old episode of Sat night live from 1975, and the lockers performed...awesome stuff.

  • That's right. That's why skinny Raj went down to the studio instead of Rerun as a joke.

  • yep i love that episode

  • This is great! Old Raj got down to the studio fast!!!

  • Is this Fred Barry's troupe? I know he and his guys pretty much invented popping and locking?

  • thats his group but they didnt invent anything...

  • Man, he started it all.

  • The music playing during the dance scenes ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!! Wish I knew how to get a hold of it.

  • It reminds me of the Blackbyrds a little...just a little though.

  • This is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • In a perfect world I would see those dudes dancing every time I closed my eyes.

  • this shit is down down down

  • This was my FD^&K*N FAVORITE episode of Whatz Happenin. It wasnt until I was much older that I realized thatIve always been on bboy ish...

  • as a matter of fact whoever put this up thank you cause ive been trying to catch this episode again for about 20 years now...

  • ih yeah I almost forgot

    ....WTTT CHH!

  • LOL give it to my man Raj! Ernest Thomas is a good friend of my family, very down to earth brother. LOL

  • They're on DVD now just in case you want to own this! Got it at Virgin Music.

  • thank you for posting this. i have been looking for a posting of the electric boogaloo. this where mj got a lot of his moves from! thanks! awesome. i luv the 70's.

  • lOOKING FOR THAT FUNKY TUNE TOO!!

  • that funky 70's geeeaaam!!!

  • theres shabba doo in the light blue...

  • if someone out there please tell me where i can find that funky tune. artist and title puuuleaze??

  • I also want it, if I find out who it is b4 you I'll let you knw. If you find out b4 me, you let me know.

  • i sure will. i mainly want to try it for locking.

  • That's true. For those of you who do not remember, Shabba Doo also starred in "Breakin'" and "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo" as Ozone.

  • Rerun in real life was apart of the same group as well as Shaba Doo. That all started in southern Cali.

  • that's true.

  • The guy in the white is Shaba doo, one of the original poppers and lockers who helped popularize hip hop and popping.

  • HA! i thought so!
