He is a strong dude. He made a legendary guitar which changed the world. He also made a great history of music. in 2009 he died naturally. which is great so he could get a chance to see alot of guitarist uses the les paul.. his own creation.. LONG LIVE LES PAUL and R.I.P Les paul..(he will be remembered)
@Doppeldiva22 HE never SAID he invented the electric guitar! HE DEVELOPED the SOLID BODY electric guitar! The title of the video is simply wrong; but HE didn't do THAT, either!
If my arithmetic is correct, Les was 92 years old at this interview. Talk about being sharp and with it. I can only wish to be breathing at that age much less making music and chatting with a sweet young female interviewer. Way to go, Les!!!
god damn.!! so much talent in a lifetime.. he truly was one of the most important characters in electric guitar history
its a shame he is dead, but i suppose he surely felt satisfied for what he did throughout his life and perhaps he was more than 90 years old so thats an example of a goood loooong life
i think gibson was dumb when he proposed the electric, but truely with les paul my life would be very boring and pointless,i want to meet him very badly and tell him how much it meant to me the things he did
he invented the solid body electric guitar and proposed to Gibson who laughed at it and called it "a broomstick with pickups" and said it would be inconvient to carry around 2 instruments. Then a year later Leo brought out the broadcaster...
The telecaster dates from 1949. Les Paul built his 'Log' (the first modern solid-body electric guitar) in 1939, ten years before the tele. What you are seeing is that the tele came out before the first Gibson Les Paul.
Other solid-body electrics came before the log, and Les was using parts that were on the market because of these. Most of these were what people call 'Hawaiian Guitars', like the Rickenbacker Frying Pan. Butt Les created the first example of the intrument we know.

hey it says that Les Paul invented the solid body guitar, but what about the telecaster that came out a year before? (as it says on wikipedia)

He was probably the first to paten it. He personally met leo fender before the tele came out so I'm sure theres some story there.
