  • Modern Soul at its finest.

  • it was a joke singstress, what im saying is paul weller ripped off marriott in every way ...

  • @ sog64 '.....possibly the best male vocallist to come out of our green an pleasant land...'? No possibly about it. Maybe Joe Cocker and Roger Chapman put as much balls into it but never could they be Steve Marriott!

  • I've never heard this before- as far as I can remember. Fabulous. Happy to have heard it before i die.

  • @iaintsmeek Glad you found it. And there's plenty more great Small Faces music out there....

  • BEST SONG EVER !

  • was weller marriotts love child ??? k.t.f

  • @SIMONHATELEY Doubtful!! Weller was born in 1958, and Marriott in 1947. So Marriott would have been only 11 when Weller was born

  • Thank you for this vid, when I first saw this steve marriot was old, now I'm old and this has made my day

  • What a song, what a song...

  • 59 people need to ask themselves a serious question and although its not in my nature to be mysterious if they can't hear how good this sounds then i can't explain it to them and i can't explain why.

  • FCK Sgt Pepper, this is from the greatest album of all time!

  • LOVE, tears in my eyes...

  • I am the Mod Father. Show me some respect. ;)

  • Marriott was 5 feet 4 inches and 115 pounds of pure rock and roll.

  • One of the best SF performances for TV. Keep the Faith.

  • You will have to watch a lot of music vids to see a man so passionate about his music possibly the best male vocallist to come out of our green an pleasant land God bless the man that was Steve Marriot

  • This is STEVE MARRIOTT - small and young and skinny but come and have a go at his lungs, his voice, his clothes his heart. Come an have a go, Popstars, Xfactors Come an have a go at STEVE MARRIOTT. COME ON CHILDREN!!!

  • @JoshThomasFilms hahaa

  • just check out PPs expression from the start of this 60s song dont you feel lucky to be sixty aswell just the best time to be a teenager

  • Notice the number of viewers keeps going up and up for Small Faces's Tin Soldier? It's because of people like me who start and end my Youtube session with the BEST.

  • @MrBazza86 Just amazing isn't it. This blinding song just will NOT lay down. I just have it on repeat and still can't listen to it enough. I genuinely believe it has to be up there in the ALL-TIME top 10 45s.

  • This song and filmclip just smoke. Thanks for posting. Love it. Can some of these fucking scientists do something useful and invent a machine to get us back there?

  • Good God, where have I been...this song and video is well, you know...

  • So well sung by Steve

  • Human ain't normal. What a band. PP Arnold too. Lovely. I mean.

  • Amazing still a fantastic song after all these years ! Never seems to become out dated

  • I AM A ROBOT

I AM HERE TO TAKE AMERICAN JOBS

  • @MrMedic8 subnormal people everywhere...

  • we are the mods r.i.p. small faces , love you always

  • THIS is what good music is all about - human, moving and powerful.

  • you dont have to be a mod to like this . brilliant

  • Whats the nail gun sound at 45 seconds into it?

  • Wham bam totally and simply the best band ever

  • @music1831 Thx

@kathykay2010 They're IN????? Fooook me!!! Well done lass, I voted because of your post. Now see if you can get Humble Pie in next year!!

"We go 'ome on Monday, but I wanna tell you, it's really been a gas......"

  • They Made IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Always strikes me what an individual sound Kenney Jones has got...a major ingredient to the SF's sound.

  • @doubleotwentyone True about Kenney. And to think he was just 16 when the band got started and had only just turned 20 when they broke up.

  • It's nice to see The Small Faces get some recognition by the Hall of Fame..Sure ..all the newspaper articles only mention Rod and Ron Wood being in the Faces..But..I guess after all these years any attention they get should be welcomed..Maybe those who aren't familiar with SF will give thier catalog a listen...Steve probably would have told 'em to "piss off"...lol

  • Brilliant news! The Small Faces should have been in years ago.

  • Small Faces may have been small in physical stature but they left a huge footprint in the world of popular music. I'm very happy for them, especially for Steve and Ronnie who wrote the lion's share of their catalogue, one which stands up quite well in comparison to their contemporaries. And yes, there are but FOUR Small Faces.

  • What took so long? Well-deserved recognition.

  • that black chick is hot

  • TOOK 'EM 27 YEARS, BUT THE'RE FINALLY IN!!!!!

  • How the hell did these guys get into the hall of FAME. They're good but who the hell are they?

  • @mgrey24 Just because you don't personally know a band doesn't mean they aren't deserving of induction in the the Hall of Fame. The Small Faces were one of the top British bands of the 60's and very influential on later British artists like the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Jam, Oasis, Elvis Costello. They never played the US and hence got no airplay there. Check out All or Nothing, Afterglow of Your Love, Itchycoo Park, If I Were a Carpenter, I Can't Make It, Rollin' Over, Song of A Baker....

  • @mgrey24 How can you know anything about rock n roll history and not know the Small Faces and/or The Faces with Rod Stewart? Do some research, junior.

  • @mgrey24 ran out of room...also check out Don't Burst My Bubble, Red Balloon, Green Circles, Every Little Bit Hurts, Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am, Autumn Stone, Come On Children, You Need Lovin' (which was pre-Robert Plant and Zep. Listen to it and come back and tell us where Plant nicked his vocal technique from) all of their various Hammond organ based instrumentals, and all of the brilliant concept album Ogden's Nut Gone Flake. And there's much more. It's unfortunate for you that you missed them.

  • never mind that. PP Arnold and Steve Marriot. Imagine the offspring, gorgeous. xxxx

  • Congratulations to the Small Faces for their upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2012.

  • this is one cool motherfucking song !

  • JUST A GREAT SONG!!LOVE HIS STYLE AND SOUND OF HIS VOICE ON THIS SONG

  • One hell of a BIG VOICE from such a small fella!!! perfect with the gorgeous Pat!!!!!!

  • ATTN : Piss on the Rand R hall of fame ! Who needs it ? Does Marriot need it ? Does Plonk need it ? Do you need it ? I listen regardless . Screw that country club organization and it's suits . that is all

  • @RisingSon011 I dont think you understand the music industry. I think they do need it! One of the best bands ever from the 60's but do you ever have the pleasure of hearing them on radio now??? Steve marriot was a ledgend but never got the public recognition and I would like to see that he does. It may be all glitz but it may generate airplay agian to make some money for the remaning members.

  • @kathmandoo the remaining memebers never got any money in the first place from the SFs success. Thats why Marriott was nearly broke when he died and thats why Ronnie Lane had to depend on the charity of friends to help him at the end of his life .Don Arden got paid , the SFs didnt .Do you suppose that teh Sfs are going to suddenly become the darlings of FM radio if they get in the 'hof" ? Come on ...

  • TOOOoooOOOn ******

  • A classic, a great band Stevie Marriot had a great voice and Ian McLaggen, Ronnie Lane and Kenny Jones were all ace musicians.

  • you're kidding me, this is one of the best songs ever , steve marriott was before his time and to sing with P.P. Arnold was a genius idea, I can't believe he needs to be voted for. A oz person with great respect for talent. You r the man Steve

  • Hands down, one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • if anyone needs to be in the hall of fame its steve marriott i had a chance to meet him in hawaii in 1971 i was a marine and he was with humble pie on tour with procul harum...one of the nicrst guys ive met sit down floor concert we got there early and he sat down with us during sound checks

  • this is total genius, mod and rock and totaly ahead of it's time

  • One of the best rock songs of the 60's and still one of the best songs ever!

  • PLEAS VOTE FOR THE SMALL FACES, THEY ARE FINALLY NOMINATED FOR THE R&R HALL OF FAME....YOU CAN VOTE AT ROCKHALL.COM

Let's finally give them what they long deserve!

  • i used to turn my plastic toy boxes upside down and drum-mime to this when i was about 3 or 4

  • @Robertemmett321 Not sure that Rod Stewart has the energy to sing this.........the soporific 'Flower of Scotland', maybe. Be better just to show this video!

@gropingwithastoker Didn't know the on-line vote didn't count......good news. Are Humble Pie in the Hall? If not then would that be an easier 'sell' to the Yanks (cos of Rockin the Filmore) and then push SF?

  • @BrightonBo No, Humble Pie isn't in and isn't considered to have much of a chance to ever being inducted. This nomination for the Small Faces this particular year is probably Marriott's best shot of making it into the Hall.

  • MY ALL TIME NUMBER ONE FAVOURITE 45 SINCE I HEARD IT IN DECEMBER '67.

  • gta 5 anyone

  • This song has to be up there with Paint It Black as one of the best songs of the '60s.

  • @BrightonBo Agree 100%.

Saw an English group on TV recently called LC something?,who have sold 2,000,000

records & you could not make out what music any of the backing group were playing

    It was BLOODY AWFUL.

Let's have a return to REAL MUSIC,with some genuine TALENT.

    It was BLOODY AWFUL.

  • Kathykay, just voted but the competition is nearly all US dross so Small Faces have got no chance. Best to hope for is that Slash (Guns'n'Roses are pissing it) turns up and dedicates it to the Small Faces.

Not too sure why the Small Faces and Faces are lumped together anyway. Maybe hoping that the Rod stewart connection gives them a leg up?

  • @BrightonBo Not so much a leg up, I think, but if they are inducted, Stewart has said he'll appear, and that will help with the broadcast, considering most Americans don't know the (far superior, IMHO) Small Faces and everyone knows Rod Not Really The Mod. If they are inducted, Stewart should have the decency to fill in for Steve Marriott and sing a SF song like Itchycoo or even this unknown (in the US) classic. Doubt it would happen though. I'm sure we'll just get Stay With Me. Yawn.

  • @BrightonBo Not sure that they have no chance. The on-line vote doesn't count. Influence and excellence are the two primary requirements for induction, and they have both in spades, especially when compared to most of their competition this year. Thanks to youtube and the internets, they can't keep ignoring them. As for the Faces, an entirely different, band being lumped in them AAARRRGGG! Wood and Stewart are already in the Hall, and the Faces were not the same caliber as the Small Faces

  • Love this song and have done for a thousand years. What a time. From the old Aussie.

  • One of the best of "The British Invasion"! Eruption of energy.

  • Great one. A killer.

  • What an energie!!!!Great song from the faces, and the mine is smiling.

  • The greatest pop band of The Sixties R.I.P. Stevie. jimmybarnsley

  • What a spirit....sp gppd...so intense....

  • cheers to my little brother, miss you, so much.

  • In my teens, this was THE BEST ROCK song going around. Great to see PP Arnold again as well.

  • Steve marriott was 21 years old here and already a master of Rock!!

  • I never saw The Small Faces perform live, and regret it to this day. I had plenty of opportunities in the 60s, but never went to their gigs as I was misled by their "comic pop" image. Too late, I now recognise that Steve Marriott had one of the greatest rock voices EVER - a great showman and always delivered. Thank you everyone who has uploaded clips to YoutTube.

  • Definitely the best voice in Rock N' Roll History! Such an underrated band; it shouldn't have taken this long for their induction into the RNR HOF.

  • Why is Steve checking her booty her - mmmm, booty.... chocolate drops on my.....

  • Their best song.

  • this were haprening[

  • This is it!!!!!!!!

  • all or nothing!

  • Outstanding band. Marriots voice is one of the best there has been in my book. Great song writers and very powerful performance. Love it.Off to vote for them now.

  • What guitar is that?

  • Small Faces was a great band live and they had humour, but they'll never reached the energy that The Who had. When it comes to song writing, no one beats Raymond Douglas. For singing, my vote goes to Eric B. Still, I love Ogden's Nut and consider it the funniest rock album ever. Whenever when I was feeling down as a youngster, that was the album to cheer me up.

  • Message for uploader - I was born in 67, this has been in my top 5 since I heard it way back in about 82. BUT I am not a 'Mod' and I wouldn't be seen dead in a Parka or on a Lambretta...why bring that up? I'm just a music lover...I love early Led Zeppelin...and they're Rockers. At the end of the day who gives a shit?

  • gotta be the best single ever just excellent

  • ATTENTION SMALL FACES & FACES FANS: PLEASE GO TO THE

  • @kathykay2010

Guns and Roses are winning by miles. There only good album was appetite for destruction

  • @kathykay2010 I've voted for the boys Kathy. As a life long fan of the Small Faces, I don't think they stand a chance of hitting the top spot. This newer generation don't care about the sixties bands unfortunately. Who cares I saw them live and STILL love 'em.

  • @kathykay2010 Hey, Kathy. Slipped this song into the usual cover fare at a pub gig in Brum last night (I'm keyboards and trying to copy the brilliance of I.M. has been a real bitch). Anyway, good crowd-you wouldn't believe how many of the audience approached us insisting they tell us the song and artists who did this classic.

  • @kathykay2010 THEY'RE IN!!!!

  • @friendlier OH MY GOODNESS...THAT IS SO VERY COOL...!

  • Every time I listen to this (which is quite often!) I can't believe how good it is...

  • this tune kicks ass of any who stuff....wellers right.this is THE band..

  • Bad playbackskills... but Steve somehow always makes me smile :)

  • ...Great backing vocal from P.P. Arnold too! A lot of talent and class on that there stage

  • I KNOW WHAT THIS SONG IS REALLY ABOUT!!!!

i met steve in london in 1969 at a party and he told me. for the fans i have posted it on-line at "russel morris the real thing zatopecara" you-tube site. regards.

  • this was out classing many 67 tunes and when you see it live you begin to see how good steve marriot was.who is that beautiful woman who never gets a measure of credit?she compliments steve and the song.GREAT!

  • A great under-rated song. Steve, you have your place in music's hall of fame. May you rest in peace wherever you are now.

  • oh wow. this was my first buy as a kid. just brilliant. thanks

  • Steve had more talent than all of today's bands combined.

  • Every time i listen to this song it just blows me away. Steve Marriott was a genius, an impeccable dresser and an amazing musician. Best song ever written!

  • FUCK YOUTUBE ADS!

  • Steve Marriott was more than a voice, but a great poet. How often can you say that about other, even great, rockers?

  • The bass totally rocks your speakers! Screw club music, THIS is where it's at!!!!

  • I just love this video, it's fantastic. Loved this band when I was a kid, got a lot of their stuff. Was Steve not supposed to replace Brian Jones.

  • sorry, small what,I just cant take my eyes off PP.....'60's babe par excellence.

Bye the way, have the original 45 vivnyl, make me an offer.

  • @koolbannas what a beautiful women that time P.P , i wish i was one of the small faces , i wanna kiss her :-)))

  • My ipod genius recommended this song wow this thing really works.

  • He freaking NAILS it at 1:35....give me goosebumps all over!!! And he was just as incredible with Humble Pie. Miss him and that amazing voice!!!

  • Play loud always

  • Congatulatons to the Small Faces for finally being nominated to the R&R Hall of Fame. The most worthy band that has been thus far ignored for certain.

I so hope the 500 voters have heard them and know songs like this. But just in case, please flood the web with your support. It's been 43 years since they broke up, and people need to know about them.

  • One of the best songs ever and I doubt I will ever tire of it.

  • this is the favotite song of phil rudd from ac/dc... great!!

  • get to fuck, style council fucking rules, as does oasis.

  • @myeverchangingmoods

    1. You post videos of a band who is nothing more than a composite pastiche tribute of 60s groups and their imagery...

2.. Your username is from a Paul Weller at his most pussified, Ever changing moods-is he on his period or what?

    3. You have the audacity to criticise Steve Marriot, the man Paul Weller'd most like to be- down to having a black girl singer in the lineup???? YOU LOOK UP to the guys that copied Steve, son...

  • @grebel82 Bitter?

  • @myeverchangingmoods About your lack of knowledge of the idols of your musical idols? No, my work here is done... It's up to you to now...

  • Well, after 20 years of eligibility the Small Faces finally were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today. But they have to share the the honor with Rod "Not Steve Marriott" Stewart. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

  • @gropingwithastoker we really have to be satisfied that people are finally recognising him... there's no way they could be given 2 awards... As long as they win, justice will be seen to be done... Steve's been ignored FAR too long... Cheers...

  • Sounds great but also sounds like his microphone wasent working too well. Anyone know where I can get the Small Faces remix " Bursting Bubbles" ?? ; )

  • Very arguably the best band of the 60's playing their best song with the added 'authenticity' of Miss PP Arnold looking like a princess.

  • This is groove!!!

  • 1.26 onwards ripped from "I can't explain" by The Who. But a fantastic song nevertheless.

  • I never get tired of this song. One of the all time greats!

  • Steve was a monster!!!

  • Is "colour" like "color" only gayer?

  • @TQCKyle Color: American. Colour: British English

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @TQCKyle Actually, the truth behind it is that the americans just was too dumb to remember that there was a u in there, so they changed the word. That also applies to words like "ageing" in british english and the dumb american english "aging" they couldn't remember the "e". British: Analogue, USA: Analog. British: Armour, USA: Armor. See how they are just too stupid to remember long words or even shorter words. ;)

  • @I3o ~No, brits are such assholes as not to recognize that English is spelled differently in various countries. buzz off brit Jerkoff

  • @I3o Presumably, the English are just too dumb to say words such as 'girl' and 'film' with two syllables, as they were pronounced in Middle English. Scots still say 'girrul' and 'fillum', which presumably makes us the smartest of the lot.

  • woah, what's going on! I've watched this video many times before but for some bizarre reason I can't hear the singing only the instrumental

  • @GRAMMARFTW your smoking good shit and coming up too fast Relaaaax

  • When is their official website going to launch?

  • that black chic is so cool

  • @jamees1904 she was an Ikette...

  • How about a like for one of the bands that shaped music for years to come. Beatles, Stones, The Who, Deep Purple, The Kinks, and a few more. What about the line " sing to you ", or from IP " across the bridge of sighs". Holy crap. Chills. There could not be Kiss for sure without the cool stage dance form from the Small Faces. Check It out !

  • Probably the best intro ever, alongwith Move Fire Brigade,so powerful. What rock should be all about.A classic.A million thanks for posting.Yours has the volume necessary to appreciate fully this gem

  • Tommy Sandoval Ride the sky. Perfect song.

  • Where are bands like this now? The Sixties a blessing for my ears!

  • P P Arnold looks so cool.

  • is it me or is the chick taller than Steve?

  • @PaulXPZ Everyone on the planet was taller than Steve lol... but omg what a voice :)

  • 58 musical retards.

  • R. Plant totally stole Stevie's singing style.
