@gonrolgonrol Wow! We hear him differently. I think he's bold and direct. Far from mysterious, he's hardly even introspective, which is kinda refreshing. I'll have to listen to him again from your angle!
I love differences of opinion. Something that promotes discussion promotes community. Agreement is over-rated. : )
Maybe it is simply a matter of different reference points? This melody may simply awaken memories in me that I then use as meaning in the melody?!
I think art that there is no differences upon may be boring. Art would be like holding a stone and coming to the conclusion that it is a stone your holding. :D
@gonrolgonrol Or maybe we're focusing on different aspects of the music. I just need to notice what you're hearing, which could very actually be in there and I'm just overlooking.
Ha! And your second point is like the one I use when arguing with atheists. They expect me to present God to them, put Him right in their hand, as if He were just a ham sandwich?
People should discuss their impressions of art just like they do wine. It's really no different, except that art's been politicized.
Ok, tried again. I like the chefs best this time. The music is powerful and at times almost (but not quite) cheerful. Still lonely, like the search for (something) continues.
@prplhze Yeah, I thought I'd give this sweet music a lil' edge. My ironically-named friend Joy is quite the angst-filled existentialist. She makes Dave seem almost cheerful!
I am probably 37 of those views. :D I can't get enough of this piece...it plays in the back of my mind all day.

@afrancolini0813 Ha ha! : D
I will eventually be re-doing this video and uploading it on my new channel, MB7classical.

Wonderful Rachmaninoff. For me he has such a depth in his music. It is romantic but with a touch (sometimes a lot) of mystery to it.

I always thought I disliked Rachmaninoff, I once heard a piece that almost scared me to death, dark! This is pretty lightly :-)
Barcarole ... the Free Online Dictionary says it's a composition imitating a Venetian gondolier's song, I can imagine that :-)
I can't wait for the second movement.
Joy's photos are great, as always!

@TheFutureClassics Woah! - I should have used your shots of Venice in that case. 8 (
Rachmaninoff was the most MANLY of composers ... but this music is very SWEET! 8 P

@PrettyGoodies1 No, Joy's shots fit this song so much better :-))

I like this piece:)
Fish therapy hehehe;) The rest of these shots are nicely done but all feel lonely.
