On July 9, 1955, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the start of the Rock Era. On April 21, 1956, Elvis Presley hit #1 with Heartbreak Hotel, shooting this new sound into the stratosphere.

  • Broke up with my first girl friend when this song came out. How appropriate eh, Can Still picture her to this day and often wonder how she is doing. She was the cutest little thing on two legs.

  • too funny! I am almost 40 yrs old, and this song just popped in my head. When I was 5 yrs old people in my family would sing this song to me, and I HATED IT !! I still remember that torment from 35 yrs ago. lol
