@jonjamg Carl Stallings actually used it quite frequently as an incidental cue in many of the WB cartoons. That's how I first heard it. Then when I heard the actual song, I said, "oh, so that's where it's from".
My parents used to sing this to me when i was a baby to stop me crying, i sing it to my baby daughter now. A piece of music from a different world than today.
