Thanks bud, I've been writing my story over and voer again for the past 8 months and never though of doing an outline. Now I have I'm almost finished and even though it only resembles my outline slightly it has helped me loads. Thanks Very much =)
I have written several short stories and a children's fantasy but that was a decade ago and well I've hit a rough spot where the well has run dry. Thanks man you got me writing again.
Characters seem to be my starting point. But in Valentino's Ghost (Only in Spirit) anthology, it was actually a authomobile called the Blue Ghost-I think. For years I had been thinking about this character Valentino-inspired in part by Rudolf Valentino and the two came together. I was also upset about immigration and the treatment of women. So I had the concept and the characters; I didn't plan it out and it is a short. Now I plan with a pic of my character, archetype, and speaking voice.
My fantasy universe begins with an Evil All God entering an empty void...from which he creates the god race...he turns them indentured servants, who make the stars, the galaxies, and eventually planets and other life forms. Draken is the name of this evil being. They serve him in his dark high heaven as slaves...until they revolt and trap him in a black realm that he may not leave. A government is elected sort of speak...a council of gods who control the many pieces of the universe.
Wow!! I love the idea of using the giant note pad! (I'm definitely going to try that!) I've been having a hard time outlining my story! Thank you SO much for this tutorial! It was very helpful!! I also like the idea of "chipping away" and stuff. Starting out really simple and adding more and more detail!
I've been reading this cool novel by an independent writer; his name is J. E. Bryant and he sells his e-books on his own site. It was actually a pretty great fantasy/action story.
You are very well-spoken and clear in these videos. I guess it makes sense that writing outlines would be more crucial for series than stand-alone books. I think everyone can use an outline, whether it's just to keep character descriptions/world locations straight, or plot events in order, etc. Your idea with the large note pad and using webs seems like it would work very well, though I can't imagine being organized enough to have a different marker color system.
