100% agree with you! Personally my favorites were in this order.

5 (Was perfectly paced and insane storyline)

3 (Simply Epic)

2 (Epic, except for Kim's side story)

4 (Straight up warfare & tense)

1 (Spy vs Spy elements which made it extremely unpredictable and awesome to watch)

6 (Was well done and good but not Epic like the others imo)

As for 7 I've seen it on tv and liked it but I still need to watch it back to back on dvd to have a better opinion about it. Watching 1 ep per week sucks =/

I loved seasons 1 and 2. They were just my least favorite Seasons personally in my opinion based off what I liked about them compared to the other seasons. I would agree with you that 7 was alright. Definitely better then season 6 that's for sure! I'm really liking season 8 thus far except for the damn unnecessary ex boy friend side story with Dana Walsh or w/e her name is. Could've been left out completely................

A few things bugged me when I watched it: Jack ran away from the explosions at just the right speed so that they were always behind him. In the scene where they said "who's behind this" the very sinister angle on Charles Logan made me laugh. I always tell people that the accusations that 24 promotes torture are really stupid but when they "lightly tortured" Audrey simply because one terrorist with no credibility said she was involved to save her own skin, that was dumb.
