  • hi does anyone know what the button is for on the opposite side of the button that closes the bolt ?

  • Can you tell me if the 3 shot is on a FAC or just the 5 and 8 shot? thanks.

  • @huwston999

The three shot is on normal SGC, one in the chamber, two in the mag.

  • can you not convert it into a 5 shot +??

  • great video, finally figured out where the notch is, was looking at it totally wrong before, cheers mate, the gun just got its first proper clean and needed it

  • anyone can open it but make the video how to fix it again and to clean pistons etc

  • Good gun for the money, are prone to jamming, mine has jammed 3 times now and only put 100 or so rounds through it,my Beretta has never jammed, but very good value gun dont regret buying it.

  • acutally i just shot this earlier today. went to the range.pretty good shotgun smeiautomatic

  • Great vid GUMN99.

    Thanks for sharing.

Just brought one for £329, well impressed for the money.

  • great video, very helpful thanks, only bought the gun yesterday, cant wait to use her.

  • spot on! most interesting i have just got one from swillington shooting supplies £495 for the escort deluxe model . BARGAIN!

  • Hi, quality video. I'm just struggling to remove the cocking handle. Any suggestions please?

    Thanks, Paul.

  • Hi, PM sent.

  • Looking at getting one of these dont want to mess up my Beretta semi when rough shooting, have you had any problems with it,ie cycling lighter loads or jamming,my Beretta is faultless, the Escort is good value i know, your feedback would be appreciated.

  • This is the shotgun i plan on buying after my licence application goes through, thanks for the video it was a great help.

  • I've had an escort mag since they came out 7 years ago! F.A.C. that is I have put 1000's ans 1000's of rounds through it, over the years only brokre 1 fireing pin and a slide... was origonaly in mossy olk cammo, all warn off now so I SPRAYED IT BALCK WITH A CAN! still looks good. I have used it every day and walked 100's of miles with it! what a gun! payed £279 p.s. don't worry about the "O" ring leave it out Iv'e not had one in for years! you only need it for very low loads so it sycles O.K.?

  • Agh video won't work! You tube is being a bitch. Seen it before though, i'm considering getting an escort and it is handy to be able to see these things, thanks for uploading.

  • How much did this semi version cost you? My buddy has the pump 12 version. I have a video of it, he can tear up some plates with that thing!

  • This cost £280 in English money, which at the time I bought it was about $600

    Now its about $410 !

Guns are much more expensive over here.

It's a great gun though, never let me down yet, and shot many cartridges with it...on clays and critters !

  • woah woah woah....at 33 seconds...what is that part? i have this same shotgun and cant figure out what that piece was that came out....what it is and what did you do to get it out?

  • Oops, yeah you won't have one of those in your gun....sorry to have worried you, it's a Snap-Cap ( used to safely dry fire it before storing ).

I had been about to put the gun away when I recorded the video, and had forgotten that the snap-caps were still in the chamber !

  • Nice video. Good work fella!

  • Cheers mate. Glad you like it.

  • Yes these are great guns, I have the Escort marine pump 18inch barrel holds 5 3inch or 6 2'3/4 shells awesome gun.

  • You're welcome, only passing on what a friend showed me.

They are great guns for the money aren't they....in fact they are great guns generally !

  • very helpful video, thanks and good luck with your shooting

  • cheers, was only intended to help one person out, can't believe number of views it's had !

Maybe Hatsan need to make their manuals a bit clearer lol.

  • Any one know about the hatsan escort field hunter pump acton shotgun? i prefer pumps to semi's and am looking for a nice non fac budget gun to tide me over until i shell out for a Benelli super nova in a fiew years.

Thanks for the vid, good to get to know the hatsan build quality anyway.

  • yes the field hunter is a good budget gun. its real nice shot about 2000 cartidges without cleaning it and no prob. buy it use it until it dies then dump it :P and buy a new one. the circle of life.

and to the video maker!. i had a "loan" gun it was a beretta o/u and i shoot much better with my field hunter then with it :P but i shoot best with my finnclassic 214 sk o/u

have a great time with the varmint control!

  • hey mate i saw these in the pump versoion and its similar to the benelli nova pump i used to have i would get one

  • are the hatsan escort 12 gauge semi-auto are

they any good? are they reliable? do they jam

or do they miss fire is it worth the money

because im thinking of buying one.

  • Yes, they are great guns, I have had no problems with mine, apart from losing the firing pin retaining bar when cleaning it, and that was my fault.

I have never had a mis-fire or jam in thousands of rounds.

I use this gun all the time, from clay pigeon shooting to vermin control, it does everything well.

You will not be disappointed, they are a great gun, very simple to strip and well made.

They are not as pretty as a Beretta, but they are a quarter of the price.

  • i have a 12g escort, and have shot 13.000 shells through mine in 18 months!, in that time it has jammed up twice. they are good value and you cant really buy a better new auto for the same price. all the best.

  • every time u use it,

  • are escort shotguns any good and do they jam up alot

  • Had mine about seven months now, and put from 24g number 9's up to 35g number 4's both fibre and Plas Wad, and never had a single jam or misfire.

For the money I cannot fault it or recommend it highly enough.

It dosen't have the finish you get with a Beretta, but the important bits work, and you don't worry about throwing it around.

Given the choice I would go for 28" or 26" barrel next time though, I got the 30", and it's a bit long if you have the butt-spacers in as well.

  • hi thanks for the vid (very helpful) just wondering how often do you strip it to clean ?? after every use or after a couple of uses ?? thanks

  • Just been shooting this morning, 50 clays, rain, and cheap sooty cartridges, so will give it a decent clean.

But if I have just taken a few shots at Crows I will happily put it away with just a draw through with a BoreSnake and a spray of oil.

Hatsan says clean it after every shoot, but I have put 400 through it over a month and not cleaned it with no problems.

Make sure you clean the holes in the barrel that port the gas through to the piston though, pipe cleaners are cheap and effective.

  • hi thanks for this, when i left my 1st comment i was deciding weather or not to buy one (cleaning and everything else is different to my o/u shotgun) but i took the plunge about an hour ago and bought the mossy oak camo escort instead of using my beretta o/u game gun for the pests

  • I have a 682 Sporting, which is a nice gun, I got the Hatsan as a guest gun so mates wouldn't dent my Beretta when they came shooting.

I have ended up using the Hatsan for myself though, prefer it to the Beretta, & hit more targets with it.

There's lots of snobbery in shooting, but I don't care as long as I am happy.

The gun has not had a single jam & has cycled everything from 24g to 35g loads.

Plus you dont feel as bad missing with a £250 gun as you do a £1900 one!

    Good Luck with yours.

  • found out today that you can fit 3 65mm cartridges into the magazine plus one in the breech in a standard 3 shot escort !!! cool eh ?

  • Not sure how you have managed that !, I have just tried mine and two in the mag is the absoloute limit.

Maybe your Mag limiter is a bit short ?

It is cool that your gun takes four shots, but make sure that the authorities don't find out, if they check the capacity when they do a licensing visit ( as they did with one of my pump-actions ) then you could be looking at five years for an unlicensed Firearm.

Probably best to have some 3" Magnums to hand if they want a demo it is a two mag.

  • Yes posssibly but i havent checked but i will just incase, and yes that is something that i will have to look out for :S, did you make sure the cartridges were definatly 65mm long ??

  • Just Measured em, they are actually 54mm long even though it says 65mm on the side, weird that, I guess the 65mm is the length of the compatible gun breech rather than the actual cartridge.

Will keep an eye out for any smaller cartridges, but to be honest I don't think they make em small enough to get three in the mag.

Let me know if you find any, I will do likewise.

    Cheers.

  • I read that you can fit 3 2" carts in the magazine.Dont coz A> its illigal makeing it a 4+1 and B> its just dangerous.

Great video I have just orderd my escort with 26" barrel in black

  • yes the size of the cartridge is after the cartridge bin shot. a 76mm long shells is only about 70 mm unshot and 76 when shot. :)

so even if u can fit a 76 mm shell in to a 70 mm long chamber the endresult might be horendous.

// owner of a few shotguns where one is the escort field hunter. thats ready for the goose hunt that starts on wendsday!

  • hello, the plastic internal mag limiter insert will have nothing to do with it because the mag tube is crimped to prevent more than two shells in the mag tube at one time, the mag limiter is there as a legality its the mag tube crimp that does the business of shell restriction.

  • thanks , helped a lot!

  • Glad to hear it !

Surprised how many views this has had !

  • can you use slugs with this shotgun??

  • Yes the gun is able to use slugs, and is grooved for a scope.

I don't use slugs, as in England they are legally very very difficult to get a permit to buy.

The biggest load you can legally by with a Shotgun licence is "LG" which is bigger than "SG", I have fired that from this gun and it handles it fine.

The gun is great value, it cost £280 over here ( about $560 ), but I think you can buy them new in the states for a few hundred dollars.
