  • Aerosmith wroten this here song

This is total shitty cover of the song

    Licks the sackage !

    Aerosmith !

  • Del Shannon was a true rock and roll national treasure...if he only knew how much he was loved by so many fans.

  • folks you got to go to ArtyElvis and see what a fuckwit he is,,, he claims he is better than kenny vance and others but he is a mental case,, his singing is so out of key and awful he is a bloody joke,

  • I love this version of a masterpiece!! Almost as good as Bob Gaudio's original.

  • nice cover but not exactly a revolutionary difference from the original.

  • 21 dislikes? what is wrong with you 21? shakes my head turns and leaves

RIP my friend your music lives on!

  • who wrote this song, 4 seasons?

  • better than frankie vallis rag doll rest in peace buddy

  • I am quite possibly the biggest Four Season fan of all time but this rendition of Rag Doll is absolutely chilling. There's something very raw that captures the desperation of this song. Del Shannon's feelings were always on the surface of his recordings. It was the source of his greatness and may have been the cause of his death. Rest in peace my friend. Your music brought me great joy.

  • Simply beautiful. Del could sing like no other. Any covers he did were just as good, if not better, than the originals. Rest in peace Del, I'll always miss you.

  • @gforce4all alex move on please ..jus play another song..let it go now......

  • omg this is del shannon where has he gone?

  • @makalavena He's dead. He shot himself in 1990. Such a sad waste of a life and great talent.

  • @jlocorriere05 ; SUICIDE???? OMG. What a waste. Poor thing.

  • Good grief!! I thought it was the 4 Seasons until I listened a little closer! Excellent version and tysm for sharing.

  • Are you related to Claude Shannon?

  • Wow this dont half sound like the 4 Seasons very, very simular but i will take your word its Del boy..lol

  • Opinions are like toenails, everyone has their own.

  • Youve gotta hear me do this along with other songs by Del Shannon/ Roy Orbison/ Elvis/ Ricky Nelson/ Jay Black/ Conway Twitty/ Engelbert Humperdinck/ plus many more! Im performing September 3rd in Coney Island, Brooklyn at the Surf n Turf club 1315 Surf Ave. Come on down and hear all of your fav songs and singers from yesteryear 50s 60s 70s Arty

  • Very difficult to imitate the original by Frankie Valli. Frankie's falsetto is unique.

  • @italhot4u Del Shannon is not imitating Frankie Valli. He had always sung this way . He happened to have a similar type of voice and in the course of filling out an album it made perfect sense for him to do this monster hit that fit his voice . This is the first I've heard his cover. I am a long time 4 Seasons fan . I really dig Vallis's work but I gotta say this is very good and Shannon is a more pitch accurate singer than Valli & this is no exception .

  • What a sad tale and loss to the music world!

  • I like Del Shannon but this song belongs to Frankie Valli.

  • @Theigmister1 His voice is as pure as a cool drink of water from a crystal clear spring on a hot summer day. No one else comes close.

  • @Dutter65 Exactly. And he puts so much emotion into it. he really feels the music he is singing. Excellant voice. i doubt I'll find a singer I like better. The only competition came later with Jim Morrison and Peter Cetera. I think I could count Phil Collins as one of my favorites also.

  • Very good, and Del wisely kept to the same arrangement as the Four Seasons version. I would have put the xylophone slightly more up front, or brought the rest down a bit, but those are quibbles.

  • Fantastic i like it.

  • ...i am a FOODBANK BEDWETTER...

  • Bob Gaudio along with Bob Crewe wrote this...

  • Are the Four Seasons doing backround. Sure sounds like it.?

  • @MrBobby781 It sure does sound like the Seasons doing the bacground and the instrument sounds are startlingly close to the original as well best I can tell through this distorted recording. I'd like to get a clean copy of vinyl on this .

  • @Geepsterr It wouldn't be the first time someone took instrumental tracks, did a remix just differently enough to suit the new vocalist, and used it to fill out an album. Remember, the lead vocal is usually the last track recorded.

  • del Shannon wrote this ......not Frankie Valley......... I wish people would stop assuming that who ever sang it .wrote it. world is so fucked up!!!!!!

  • @surferrandys I think the world will survive such as mistake as this.....

  • Del was one of the most vocally gifted singers ever! Good song writer and musician too.

  • Did he say"her folks won't let me cause they say that she's no good"?

  • @gforce4all The words are "My folks won't let me cause they say that she's no good ".

  • @dabeefsdad I know.It was a joke.

  • @gforce4all Ok I thought that was the case but I thought ,Oh what the hell!! I'm 61 and grew up with this stuff!! LOL Thanks

  • I love the 4 seasons and Frankie Valli, but I must admit his voice has the blues sound Frankie does not.

  • Rock n Roll will live forever!

  • yea i agree he had a heart wrenching unique sound, nobody could ever sound the same as him. Fantastic.

  • THis is one of those'' i know all the songs ,but never remembered who did them , .

  • rag doll

  • I think I like this better than the 4 season's version.

  • i totally agree nobody can sing this song quite like del Shannon, the sound is so distinct and fantastic

  • Del Shannon was a great artist and a tragic loss. R.I.P.

  • Is it just me or is there something so plantive in del Shannon's voice? Sure Frankie had a geat voice but there is somehting absolutely heart wrenching that put the del Shannon imprint on all his songs. Just listen to Runaway. Nobody but nobody sings the song like him.

Rest in peace buddy and thanks for so many great memories.

    Rock on music lovers,

    True Averil

  • @TheIgmister1 well said me man,,,

  • @TheIgmister1 Not just you. I was a little boy when this stuff was popular. I remember this song, I listened to the story and this guy pouring it out of a torn heart. He had it. Gene Pitney was another one.

  • Thanks for posting this. He was my idol.

  • Reverb so much! Me likee-likee 4 seasons mo bettah! Love you long time!

  • I still prefer Frankie's voice, but this is a very well done cover. I can definitely appreciate this (:

  • Del has the power of turning every song in a melody that can easily be listened to thanks to his talented voice and Falsetto.

  • Love the Four Seasons..but this is a top version

  • Jeff Hardy 7th TNA Theme *Modest/Alien Waltz Mix* (Download Link in TNAJeffHardy13 102 videos Subscribe Subscribed can you make a copy without the crowd in the back

  • Shannon is a gimmick...this song is a fraud....cheap imitation of Frankie.

  • @azjeff1971 Del Shannon is excellent, what are you talking about?

  • @azjeff1971

what did frankie sing that sounds like this? and which frankie you talking about??

  • @AlienVisitor frankie valli the original writer

  • @mikeyrobot500 bob gaudio of the four seasons wrote this frankie didnt write anything

  • @AlienVisitor He's referring to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, this was one of their biggest hits.

  • @AlienVisitor frankie valli sang this had a no 1 hit

  • @azjeff1971 MUCH BETTER VERSION Plus Del has the looks that apeal to woman

  • @azjeff1971 you are out voted Del Shannon has the looks and a better voice than Frankie but Frankie did get close

  • @cobwebs22 frankie doesnt play guitar either

  • so did this come out before the four seasons version? its exactly the same.

anyway thanks for posting it. it is really loud, but i wouldnt have noticed.

anyway, i thought the 'negrosauraus' line was funny. lighten up everyone.

(: where do you men come up with this stuff.

  • so did this come out before the four seasons version? its exactly the same.

  • @Pxxxxxxxxl you sound like a right moronic jerk, as the other guy said, why listen to something you don't like?? or are you angry at yourself because you do like, try turning the volume down you idiot

  • @Pxxxxxxxxl as usual- someone who bitches over a song that if they didn't want to hear it -- would not a normal person not listen to it over and perhaps over again!!

  • Wow this takes me back to when I was little and my mum would be in the kitchen cooking googdies singing along. lol

  • * * * * *

  • del ,was the man what a singer? RIP you was the best..

  • such a great man , such a great voice , . . .

  • I don't know who copied this, but next time keep an eye on your recording levels. It was ruined with the levels up too loud. Unlisteneable

  • definately the best version miss you del

  • upload conquer

  • Hi Guys, I too love the falsettos and this version of Rag Doll by Shannon is brilliant. Such a tragedy he died just as the Travelling Willburys were trying to contact him to replace Roy Orbision. Read with interest the Frankie and del were fighting the tile King of the Falsettoes. Sorry fellas you both run second to Roy Orbison.

    What a voice.

    Anyway enjoy the music.

    Cheers,

    True Averil

  • So um.. who WROTE the song, Frankie of Del? O.o

  • @CriissyyET neither bob gaudio

  • @The19501953 Oh, thanks. (:

  • Song is GREAT!

    Performance is GREAT!

...but what was the engineer THINKING with what they did on the background harmony distortion?? :P

  • @Fluffets he had it down better than the Four Seasons

  • Long live Del.

  • Del and Frankie are both great singers but Del has it in the looks and height department. No contest I would go for Del anytime Shame he had to end his life that way

  • Del Shannon and Frankie Valli had a long standing, but (as was the custom of their time), quiet feud over who was the "King Of The Falsetto." Story goes that both were supposed to appear on the same bill, but both refused. Del did this cover, almost note for note, of the Bob Gaudio/Bob Crewe written classic as a bit of a dig toward Frankie. Check out Del Shannon's last recording before his suicide, ROCK ON, for some great music.

  • grandios!!! I seek the german version of LEO LEANDROS and THE FIVE TOPS. this has been in the charts in the end-60th .... can anyone help me? thanks a lot!

  • Comment removed

  • @GlorifiedTruth why did your parents let you live

  • he commited suicide????!!!!! what the heck is wrong with people!!!!!???

  • Never heard this version before. I'm more used to The Four Seasons' hit but this one is just as good.

  • I just love that 50s/60s sound of very treble guitars with reverb

  • I loved this song, always have and always will......

  • Fantástico, desde España un fan de Del Shannon.

  • RIP Del, I wish yo were still here.

  • it's the 4 seasons!

  • @rewebbo

    nope..it's del,,

    very cool..

  • @rewebbo No..it is Del Shannon.... Frankie Valli sounds a little like Del, or, vice-versa ... they had similar styles, but one can tell the difference.

  • that pisses me off that he took his own life, he ghad the world by the balls

  • What a great tribute. I had this on an LP Del Shannon recorded in 1964/1965 which included his great tune "Keep Searchin' " ... Look that one up on YouTube!

  • Del Shannon is the best

  • yeeeeeeeeees le vrai son des sixties

  • Is there a tune that Del could not cover a superb performance .Granted we all prefare the Valli original Del was such an underated artist Class

  • BRILLIANT

  • Comment removed

  • Didn't know he did this song, sorry chiledoug its Del Shannon, my era my kind of music.

  • HEY THIS IS FRANKIE VALLEY... not dell SHANNON

  • @chiledoug lots of people did Del Shannon songs. Frankie Valley did and so did the Stones.

  • @4568Lee it's Bob Gaudio who wrote this song for Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Del Shannon did a cover of the Four Seasons' song, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong ... I love Del Shannon ... to bits !

  • @spokar1 Thanks for correcting me so politely. Sometimes people commenting on YouTube are not as courteous. Thanks for the information.

  • Didn't know that he did a cover to this great song. At first before he started singing, I thought that this was the Four Seasons version. But noticed his vocals once he started singing, and he does a good job getting the falseto notes too. Sounds very much like the original.

  • First Class..

  • @LegalizePsychedelics I can dig it. Cruising is a good way to get killed or robbed in Oakland.

  • THIS WAS MY COUSIN

  • I love all of Del's hit but never realized he did such a good job of doing covers of other hits. Thanks for posting. They should have added Del to the Wilburys instead of Dylan. Del was a great singer!!!

  • i like the 4 seasons better

  • when was this verison released, i like it better than the four seasons version

  • He was prescribed prozac for depression and committed suicide a week later. Had that not happened Del Shannon would still be with us.

  • @12014fisher

And do you know why? He was misdiagnosed with AIDS.

  • did you know that he offed him self? life gos on..what of waist of tallent..my grandpa loves this song i cant play this one for my grandpa..

  • @LegalizePsychedelics Thats awesome, I know what you mean...Yep, it sucks these days.

  • Nice version! Thanks for posting!

  • This was a great era when you could at least understand what the singers were singing.

  • WOW

  • WOW

  • Love Del Shannon's voice!!!

  • EXCELLENT COVER!!!!!!! BRAVO!~

  • There is something about this version which I love...

  • You can tell the difference. Del's voice is lower. I hope the original song didn't sound so clipped.

  • Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck

  • I like this version than the Four Seasons Rock On Del.

  • Auch klasse, wie von Frankie Valli & The four Seasons ! Ein Ohrwurm der Sonderklasse, da muß man schon richtig singen können !

  • This is most certainly Del. Both Frankie and Del had that falsetto voice...so its an understandable mistake.

  • Ummm Thisi is frankie valli and the four seasons...

  • @knicks731731 Nope...this is Del Shannon.

  • yey deffo del

  • @knicks731731 Ummm...No...it isn't!

  • WHO SANG THIS FIRST

  • The Four Seasons had a hit with this in summer 1964. Del Shannon's cover appeared on one of his LPs in January 1965.

  • super ☺ höre ich immer wieder gerne !!

    Macht total gute Laune ☺

  • Oh this be Del Shannon alright!! Execllent

  • Wonderfullissimo

  • hey can someone please upload Del's "The Big Hurt" for us ASAP ?!!!!

  • This is not The Four Seasons? Maybe a mistake here..

  • no mistake, this is Del Shannon.

  • Not this version

  • This soundtrack is hopelessly distorted!!!

  • Great music. 60' years the best. Bellissimo.

  • You are so right about that!

  • But later than, the other original of 1962.

  • 5*****

  • this was a fine time... :)

  • Agreed!

  • I have a pic of Del taped to my binder 4 school... Rock on in heaven Del, luv ya man!

  • On a par with the 4 Seasons version

  • Love this song! It remind me to my

    youth! Great song!

  • Brent441

Thanks for posting that. Del was a great singer. As good as the 4 seasons eh Sandy :>)

One of the greatest falsetto singers.

    His suicide was heartbraeking.

  • This is fantastic.....I hated the way that the radio stations in Glasgow,Scotland were obsessed with playing "Kelly " by Del Shannon....It was a great fav.here...I cannot understand it's attraction...But this is great....

  • OVER MODULATED (aka DISTORTED)

  • I was no great lover of bobbie sox music in my youth. The only singer who ever captivated me was Del Shannon, especially with his song "Runaway".

Thanks Del, for that great music.

  • Better than the 4 Seasons.

  • the singers are a bit out of tune yet Del is great!

  • never tire of listening to this fantastic singer r.i.p.

  • @frankyagogo i'm an english X skin/punk/romantic, but always loved this song

  • @redredreds100 skinheads sux white pride bullshit

  • @misfitsruby moron, you ought to learn before you open your stupid mouth, I was a skinhead in England in the 70s, we thrived on reggae music, which you may notice is black, we were just fashionable street kids, you ass hole americans took the fashion, and stuck the racism with it, we were far from racist, so next time, before you open your stupid mouth, let your brain go first
