kaftans and flairs.....oh those were the days my friend....have you really still got them?!!!! hang on to them..they are precious.....and your rendition of this beautiful song is precious mike...so beautiful....about the best actually i have ever heard...brings back so many memories..so glad i found you on the net xx
I've watched many covers of this great song and I think your performance may be my favorite. I also love the way you perform the last verse and how you look at the camera and then away afterwards. It shows that your heart's into what you're singing. Excellent cover!!
The rain has hung the leaves with tears today, and I came looking for this song. I truly love what you've done with it...the last verse in particular...a straight, gentle shot to the heart. Just right -- thank you.
OOOOOOh, I'm sorry Mike but this one just doesn't quite work for me. It's the first of yours I've felt didn't quite it hit the button. You know I rate you so highly.
hi MACHAWK.. thats cool.. there are a lot of my songs i think the same of.. just a moment in time so i don't forget what i shouldn't probably remember M:)
he was a real hero of mine when I first started playing.. the way he played seemed mysterious an unattainable at the time.. this song is just timeless.. cheers M
Hi, this is a really fantastic cover. I'm on a mission to learn this now, but i might be too much of a novice - is this in some special tuning? Do you have a cap on the strings off the edge of the screen? Thanks for posting this cover on youtube
thanks TE.. its a good song to start with.. capo on the second.. and C F and G with the little finger almost always on the third fret ( top E) let me know how you get on..M:)
Not bad, actually. Having a little trouble with the interesting things you do with the little finger, but otherwise it sounds respectable. I wish I could sing like you, though.
good to hear.. the little finger thingy is worth persevering with.. it will add embellishments to so many songs in the future.. I would like you to sing like you.. so much more authentic. .. peace.. M
I think you've played this beautiful song at the perfect speed and volume, so many others seem to race through it and punch it out, thanks for bringing out its inherent beauty.
Love the unique style you added to this song...well done! It's one of my fav songs ever and I have a version of myself singing and playing it on my bass. I'm working on vids of me singing and playing "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch". I think Donovan is one of the best singer/songwriters ever and gets no where near enough credit for it...but I digress. Anyways I love what you did with this timeless classic. Kudos all around.
Just stumbled onto this one through several layers of Catch The Wind covers, most of which were okay but not really special. I really like yours! Are you surprised? You just have a way of singing songs as if you really mean it. And I think you're right about Donovan. He never did quite reach the caliber or prolificy (not really a word, but it should be) of Dylan's writing, but I liked his voice and guitar playing better...
Hi Jack.. I'm beginning to forget what songs I have.. or haven't done. Someone has already reminded me that I have done 'blowing in the wind' twice. Then again its so good there is nothing wrong in singing a good song twice.
I have always strummed this song but my strumming days are over. I'd like to catch up with some of Donovan's later work and see what he's been up to recently. A good song writer should improve with age.. hopefully...? Regards Mike
Ohhh great I just found some new chords I had missed from this video! Thanks for that Mike. Oh and just ignore the nonesense that I usually write - but I will keep me plyers and bolt cutters ready if I see anything in case you suddenly appear in the obituary column.
Brilliant! Donnavan strummed this much faster and it sounded a bit 'hurried' in my opinion. Its nice to hear it played (and picked) slowly so that it can be savoured like a good wine....burp! Sorry!
Another brilliant cover! I believe Donovan was classified as Europe's own "Bob Dylan", if you will. Certainly an artist that was underrated in the USA. Thank you Mike. It's always a pleasure to listen to your music!
Thanks Joe, Your right, Donovan was concidered UK's answer to Dylan although I don't think Don' ever sustained the brillance and depth of lyric writing of Dylan.
great Sound!
