  • For God's sake , what a left wing propaganda machine the C.B.C is.

  • I so disliked Mr. Harper's american style attack ads during this past campaign. Seemingly, Mr. Harper uses America as his model for most of his philosophies and tactics when it comes to running this country. His vision is simply this, make money anyway you can and who cares about foolish ethics. What has taken years of work from much wiser and more knowledgeable politicians any himself (health care, minimum wage and workplace standards, pollution regulations) he will happily tear away from us.

  • None of you left wing losers complained when Chretien was winning his majorities. Now that liberals are in the political forest of no return suddenly something is supposedly broke and in dire need of fixing.

  • @bgibb101 This past election is hardly "the end" as the media has sensationalised it. In one election the Libs only got forty-smthg seats, and of course, the media talked about how "this was the end" and all that... they came back next election with a majority...I'm not even a Liberal, but I will admit that they are the ones we ALWAYS turn to to clean up right-wing government's inevitable messes. .

  • Thank you Michael Iggnutif for taking the Communist Party to the worst defeat in history.

  • @bgibb10170% of the Canadian electorate is left of centre. So why do non-CONservatives complain about how Harper only represents 30% of the country even though Chretien won 3 consecutive majorities with similar numbers? Because with Chretien we at least got SOME form of a centre-left government which is what the real majority of population want..so yeah, Harper's is MUCH worse because 70% who voted centre-left(Lib,NDP,Bloc,Green)have right-wing gov't that doesn't represent them at all

  • @ammarios I hate to break it to you but the Liberal party is not center-left. Under the liberal government people making 10$/hour made a net pay of just 2 cents more than people making minimum wage 6.25$/hour. Sounds like communism to me. Then there's the sponsorship scandal and the Liberals increasing mp's salaries. The Liberal party is the most disgustingly corrupt party we have ever had. Oh and incidentally Harper received 55% of the votes a lot more than Jean Chretan ever did.

  • @77tubuck ..um....WHAT?? Harper received thirty-something percent of the vote... wherever you got "55" from ... LOL ....

Maybe you should look up your "stats"...

  • @ammarios Duh from the news on election night. Harper not only won a majority he had the majority of the vote. If you don't know that you should not be voting. I am not going to argue with you as your obviously a dumb liberal.

Maybe you should look up your "stats"...

  • @77tubuck No he didn't. &you're obviously a liar. ALL of the "news coverage",not to mention ELECTIONS CANADA..Harper only got thirty-something percent of the vote..either youre just straight-up lying, or have no idea how the electoral process works in Canada..why do you think there are all these protests popping up now SPECIFICALLY coz of how majority DIDNT vote for him. A parliamentary "majority" is not "the majority of the vote". Look it up. Lol what an uninformed idiot.& I'm not a liberal.

  • @ammarios Harper got more than 30% of the vote. You can protest all you want. You can stomp up and down. That does not change the fact that Harper has a majority.

  • @ammarios - Every majority government since Confederation has been voted in with less than 50% of the vote.

  • @ammarios - The left wing vote was split between three parties. At least the Reform party and the progressive Conservatives recognised that they would never govern Canada unless they merged into one party. The NDP did well because of the protest vote in Quebec, but I doubt if whorehouse Jack will ever be PM, unless the left merges into one large party. As for centre-left or centre-right, we've got what we've got. Its Harper for the next four years, period.

  • @bgibb101 lol ok this is where I stop taking you seriusly. First you said Harper got 55% of the vote, which I pointed out was a lie...now you say all majorities were less than 50 percent of the vote, which ALSO isn't true... we've had both Liberal AND Conservative majority governments who got more than 50% of the vote..one of them being Brian Mulroney, and the liberal govts of the 19th century. Wow, you are incredibly uninformed. If people like you are voting, no wonder we're going to hell

  • @ammarios - OK, I just checked the figures. According to Fair Vote Canada Harper won 54.22% of the seats with 39.6% of the vote. Chretien won his majority in 1997 with 38% of the vote. But in 2008, with the same percentage (but 200,000 more votes) Harper only won a minority. The problem is NOT the peoploe who are actually voting, but those who are NOT voting. In the last election 41% of Canadians did not vote - that's 5,382,130 pepole, the same ones who whine about everything and do nothing..

  • @ammarios - In fact, more Canadians abstained from voting in the General Election of 2008 than the number of Canadians who voted for the Conservative Party this year - about 170,800 more! Vote apathy has grown by more than two million people over the course of the three previous federal elections held since 2000. You are not only pointing the finger at the wrong people, you are pissed that Harper won a majority with only 39.6% of the vote. "Uninformed?" I think not...

  • @bgibb101 Yes, you are EXTREMELY uninformed.... you contradicted yourself twice, then realised I was right ...

The problem is our first-past-the-post electoral system.

With Chretien (even though I DIDN'T vote for him), since the majority of the electorate voted for SOME form of left-centre party (Lib, NDP,Green, BLoc), it wasn't as bad because with him we at LEAST got SOME form of left-centre gov't...THIS time it is worse because the majority did NOT vote right-wing ..now do you get it?

  • @ammarios - 2011 Federal Election: Conservatives 39.6%, NDP 30.6%, Liberals 18.9%, Bloc Quebecois 6%, Green Party 3.9%. Total number of Canadians who voted - 14,720,580 out of 23,971,740 registered electors. So who cares you didn't get your "centre-left" government? Go blame the 41% of Canadians who couldn't be bothered to vote, including those who think that by abstaining from the vote ot destroying their ballot cards they are somehow "making a statement." Harper is in. Suck it up....

  • @bgibb101 Wow, it took you THAT long to figure that out... and let's not forget that you earlier actually thought that Harper had received 55 percent of the popular vote, and that ALL majorities since Confederation had less than 50 percent of the popular vote ...

Well, you can blame whoever you want for whatever you want..I'm more interested in fixing our system with one that equally represents ALL voters, rather than playing the blame-game...

  • @ammarios - BTW, it was 77tubuck that stated that Harper got 55% of the vote, not me. I stated that every majority government since Confederation has gotten in with less than 50% of the vote. So please get it right. And the entire point of your posts is simply this. harper has a majority government and you're pissed.

Funny how you lefties are only interested in "fixing the system" when the Conservatives win the election. You can fix it by making sure that ALL eligible voters turn out.

  • @bgibb101 Well, your statement that "all majority gov'ts since confederation had less than 50 percent of the popular vote" is STILL incorrect.

And, actually, I JUST said that the system needs reform regardless of who had won...

And great... you're happy...well, I'm not..and neither are two-thirds of the voters... we're free to be happy or not happy and to voice our grievances and try to do something about it.

  • @bgibb101 Who cares?? Well, two-thirds of the people who voted care. Two-thirds voted for a left-of-centre government (whether NDP, Liberal, Green or Bloc). "Suck it up"...sorry, but that is not how things work. You don't get to tell people to not express their displeasure and dissatisfaction at domestic issues. It's called freedom of expression. Everyone has a right to voice their issues...if you don't like it, then you're free to not listen.

  • @bgibb101 When a govt who only got a third of the vote gets in with a majoirty, and occupies an ideology that is the OPPOSITE of that of two-thirds of those who voted, then the system is broken. If we had gotten a majority Lib or NDP gov't with the same numbers, I certainly wouldn't be telling an unhappy conservative to "shut up/suck it up".

  • @ammarios - Harpers in for the next four years. I'm happy!

  • @bgibb101 They also have the right to voice their dissatisfaction and to protest. I'm not saying that all would be fine if NDP/Lib or Green had won...I'm saying it would have at least been more representative of the voters, but our system would STILL be broken and in need of fixing so that it includes EVERYONE proportionally (yes, including thr right-wing and conservatives)

  • @ammarios - You got your wish. Harper is adding 30 more seats in Parliament to ensure that all provinces and parties are more fairly represented. A pity the Liberals didn't get around to doing it.

  • NANANA NANANA NANANA WAAAAYYYY GOOOODBYYEEEE

  • That's right Iggy - "the Canada we love" - without another Liberal Government. How does it feel Iggy, to be the architect of the Liberals demise? Only 24 seats? Even that comic opera buffoon, Chretien did much better. This time Harper won a majority with tons more seats in Ontario and with a huge number of minority votes. Jack Layton doesn't even have enough opposition seats (collectively) to form a coalition.

JOKE: What has more seats that the Bloc?

    Answer: Your car. Ha!

  • @bgibb101 um..it was 34 seats, not 24 .... And the Liberals (like ALL other major federal parties) have ALL seen similarly horrible election results .. Kim Campbell's "Progressive" Conservatives were decimated to TWO seats at the hands of Chretien ... back in the day, the Liberals also had a horrible showing of forty-something seats , but they ALWAYS end up coming back, because the right-wingers ALWAYS end up fucking up and we need them to fix it.

  • @156Adrian165 it was liberal policies from previous administrations that helped in the reccecion not harper

  • Ignatieff resigned. It's because he lost in his own riding. over 25% of the conservative votes are from the attack ads.

  • @AFA318 Actually, I believe they call those Conservative ads about Iffy as "fact" ads, not "attack" ads.

(Since the lie-berals never questioned or sued over them.)

    Just clarifying...

  • GO HARPER

  • @Rottenhamburger You're an ignorant idiot.

  • Stephen Harper has gotten us out of the worst part if the recession in Canada and he's still doing a great job at leading us. Why kick him out of office now? What has Michael Ignatieff done for us? What has Jack Layton or Elizabeth May done for us? When I watch TV, I see attack ads against Michael Ignatieff from the NDP and attack ads against the conservatives from both sides. But I don't see any attack ads from the conservatives against the other two parties. Do you?

  • @156Adrian165 Actually, the reason Canada's done relatively well this recession was because of banking regulations that the Liberal government had passed in the 90's that prevented commercial and investment banks from merging so banks couldn't gamble with people's money, regulations which Harper was against. The reason for this recession everywhere else was because of the domino effect of the massive bubble allowed by lack of regulation. Canada only got dragged into it due to reduced demand from

  • @156Adrian165 other countries. Harper's budget in 2008 Failed to address anything, hence the coalition fiasco. It was only after proroguing parliament - specifically to avoid the pending no- confidence vote - and the threat of being removed from power did he actually do anything about it.

And there's been plenty of attack ads from the Conservatives against Ignatieff personally, starting long before any election even began. They even have a website smearing his name.

  • @156Adrian165 how can you credit a single person for the economic recovery of the world it's insane. and most of the attack ads i have seen are from conservatives attacking liberals.

  • FUCK harper and eggnatiff or how ever you spell his fuckin name, Vote NDP, That's all I have to say.

  • god this man spent 300million ON ANOTHER STUPID ELECTION THATS 300MILLON PAY IT BACK THE PC HAS KEPT THIS COUNTRY FROM FALLING IN TO RESETION LIKE THE RES OF THE WORLD THAT SHOWS A LOT

  • This election has been eerily like the USA 2004 election. Harper borrowed Bush's attack ads, and like Kerry, Ignatieff decided to take the "high road" and didn't fight back aggressively enough.

  • @doomsword86 voting liberal isnt gonna make things better bud

  • FUCK HARPER IF HE GETS MAJORITY US CANADIANS ARE FUCKED AND LETS REMEMBER THEIR ARE MORE THAN 3 PARTIES RUNNING FOR PRIME MINISTER

  • Ignatieff has Paul Martin alongside him campaigning. He is quoted as saying he is honored to have Martin along to help promote a "fiscally responsible Liberal legacy". Hello, ADSCAM!! The quote should read, to help promote "fiscally irresponsible Liberal lunacy". Martin should be in prison for the rest of his life. What an insult, rubbing our noses in it. I agree, SCREW Ignatief!!!!

  • @Vindicatorization Your a dumb fag

  • You know what, SCREW IGNATIEFF! He's American. He's saying that Harper's American style, but Ignatieff is American. He runs in Etobicoke Lakeshore and has a house in North York, not Etobicoke Lakeshore. WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM?

  • The media has formed public opinion on Ft. Mac. Even if environmental research and development funding from corporate FT MAC is massive people are only getting info from a bias media. The NDP have a terrible track record, yet people have a short memory. The NDP surge is yet another surge toward taxation and a choke hold on the economy.

  • @doomsword86 You think locking up pot smokers is Anti-left? Do you think the NDP want to legalize non-medical drugs? You think left leaning people are anti-semites? Have you ever "been" to Fort MCMurray and seen the actual Tar Sands in person? Canada is more environmentally concious then ANY other country in the world would be developing that resource. Freedom and liberty do not come form MORE government, the NDP would form a social state, tax you more, and control your life more if in power.

  • NDP? Have you checked their track record at running provinces into the ground. The change the NDP will bring is a hard and fast trip to the EI line.

  • stromplogompalobogus

  • Ignatieffs a dipshit.

  • i like ignatieff

  • Comment removed

  • @doomsword86

So, if you vote liberal, will you pay my tax hike?

  • @freezzr Sure....and if you vote CONservative, will you pay my doctor's bills?

  • @elendio8, a better question is how can you vote for a political party that sees nothing wrong with refusing to answer to the Canadian public or our representatives on matters that go directly to trust? a non-confidence vote stemming from contempt of our basic political principles is a very serious charge, his JOB is to PROTECT those principles. what's even worse that many members of his caucus or advisory panel have criminal pasts. trust him? not me.

  • i love Liberal cause they work with immigrants it has been 2 years i am waiting for my husband from pakistan ,but no response i am in depression no body cares i love and i vote for Liberal

  • SEARCH YOUTUBE

Michael Ignatieff Caught On Tape: Praising Bush 's Human Rights Record !

  • Ignatieff is an @ss....he doesn't even allow any negative comments about him on his Youtube page. What are you afraid of Michael?? Go back to Britain where you belong. Arrogant & inept piece of cr@p.

  • Let's all "RISE UP" to the challenge of dumping the Harper gov't. We need a gov't that is open and democratic. Michael Ignatieff will be a more compassionate and caring Prime MInister. AS a Canadian, I would be proud to have a Prime Minister who respects the rights and freedom of every individual. Michael Ignatieff is the right man for the job!!!............on May 2nd, vote Liberal!!!

  • @ellendio8 I must change my vote from liberal to vote for Mr. Harper. This Iggy guy scares me! How can someone be out of the country for 42 years and then demand to be PM?

    Just my thoughts.

  • @mikefastener Considering that the person who holds ultimate power in our country is an elderly British lady and barring that someone she appoints in her stead, I think someone who goes to work in the US for a while makes sense.

Also, how can someone shut down an entire country's government because things aren't going their way?

  • @lordofallthatisbass Wow! (Why are left-wingers always so consistency silly?) So we believe someone who does not know the country (this Iffy) should be PM. And, BTW, how often has the Queen interfered in Cdn politics?

How can someone shut down..gov't? Ask Chretien, who shutdown the gov't 5 times and one particular time to avoid questions on the lie-beral corruption scandal.

Don't bother responding..I find lie-beral supporters tend to run away when confronted with facts.

    Hope I educated you!

  • @ellendio8

lol most canadians completely disagree with you.Ignatieff lost what, 43 seats?Something like that? The liberals started an unwanted new election and the Canadian people responded!

  • This guy is the most annoying politician I have ever come across in my adult life so far. And that's saying alot. He's arrogant, he talks to people like they're five years old and he's so full of himself. He talks about himself way too much for my liking. Just like Obama. And he has the nerve to say that only he can beat Harper. Just for that Mr. Iggy, I'm voting NDP. How dare you say I have to vote for you to defeat Harper. I take offence to that so I'm voting NDP out of spite. Screw you Iggy

  • @Etobeeshawn Don't vote for NDP in spite of him, vote for NDP because you believe in what they say. Although I do agree, he comes off as arrogant, don't tell me you're the only solution. I'll be the judge of that.

  • such an asshole leader. Liberal Party should elect somebody else as leader. not this idiot.

  • @doomsword86

its all a PLAY...same thing as obama, just a puppet.

  • goddammnit you people need to educate yourselves a little. PLEASE do some thorough research on this goon... he's a puppet for the NWO. its so OBVIOUS they have this whole thing set up...making harper seem like a monster, so that he could win over the gullibles. im not saying harper is any better...im saying all the main stream parties are corrupt..canada's going down the shitter, same thing thats happening to the US is happening over here.

  • he's a puppet you dumb liberals

  • @doomsword86 I haven't heard anything from the government, I'm basing my opinion on experience. Most of my friends who smoke pot are lazy, forgetful and stupid as a result of smoking pot everyday. They didn't always used to be like that. They're view of the world is just as detached from reality as yours.

  • Oh the irony! This interview slamming Harper for attack ads was sponsored by an attack ad against Harper.

  • Let me get this straight. Iggy's family comes here from Commie Russia. If Harper is elected as PM with a minority government, Iggy will form a coalition because democracy scares him. He wants to feel at home where democracy didn't exist. He quotes Chairman Mao in the debate. If the coalition doesn't happen, he's going 'home' to the states. You Liberal voters are dicks.

  • @spudd777

Ignatieff's family was not communist, they were royalty. Michael Ignatieff is a Russian viscount.

  • @spudd777 Liberal voters disagree with Harper's government's bad policies. Doesn't matter who you vote for, Conservatives will have a strengthened minority government on May 2 2011, and will continue to try and obtain a functional Conservative majority while the Liberals sort out the chaos that will be their party when they come a distant second in the federal poles. Anyone with half a brain could have told you this a month ago, but most Canadian citizens are normal people who don't know much

  • Strombo doesn't get it. He makes a point of the Bloc getting 49 seats while the Greens get none with slightly less pop support, then he wonders why some don't want a Liberal led coalition.

Because that coalition would include the Bloc, who don't give a FF about anyone outside of Quebec and I don't want them involved in making decisions for all of us.

    Now you got it.

  • @doomsword86 No wonder your ideas are so out of touch with reality, because you take drugs. If you payed attention to the situation in Israel and the middle east in general you would know why supporting Israel is our most important foreign policy.

  • @doomsword86 haha FASCIST! How dare you?

But seriously, I understand where you're coming from; I think your methods are slightly misguided. Smoking weed is illegal - even if it's wrong - and so weed smokers are criminals. Israel is the enemy of our enemies, and so we befriend them. As for the tar sands, I'm for exporting them, because if the U.S. get it from us, they'll buy from Iran - the world would not consume less oil without Canada. However, I do agree that we should use renewable energy.

  • You're not a patriot....

  • We need no front for your patriotism, your not a patriot.... Go to Hell!!!!

  • @doomsword86 So from your questions I gather you're a druggie, terrorist, and a hippie?

  • I love how he complains about conservative spending millions of dollars to attack him, but when he overthrew harper to have another election it costed canada 300 million dollars honestly im not a fan of Harper either but this guy has costed canada way to much money for this little act he pulled, im sick and tired of Canada's shitty and retarded governments, both liberal and conservative. They are all greedy power grubbers and act like children when it comes to politics, its honestly sickening

  • @thedicklick1 ...NDP FTW?

  • @thedicklick1 I have to say I love that comment. Conservatives propose legislation, no one agrees with it because it's ridiculous, thus election is called, and it's everyone's fault BUT the Conservatives! Brilliant.

  • I'll be voting for Harper. I don't know a lot about politics but I do know that Ignatiaff comes accross as a sore loser, a whiney snot-nose cry baby who takes a poor me victimized stance. However, Harper comes accross as classy and solid. I will definitely be voting conservative :)

  • @iwonderwhy1994 Wow... that is probably one of the most terrible reasons I've ever seen for deciding who to vote for. Why don't you do some actual research?

  • @iwonderwhy1994 Why not vote on where the parties stand?

  • Ignatieff doesn't know what he's talking about. He's critical of the Conservatives for buying the F35 without tending other bids. But the only two planes the Americans have that could replace the F18 are the F35 and F22. The F22 is a specialized air to air combat plane unsuitable for a tactical role. It's more expensive than the F35 and currently is not allowed to be sold to other countries. So it's the F35 or continue with the aging F18.

  • A Serious lesson ALL Canadian Citizens NEED DESPERATELY learn

is that, Politics & Polititians are identical to a sewer-pipe full of big, nasty,

Smelly Turds. They ALWAYS_ Flow toward & OVER the path/people of

LEAST RESISTANCE. ( Un-Fortunately, that's YOU & me folks. You know,

the TAX-Payer. The people FAR TOO BUSY WORKING to continually keep

an eye on these THIEVING, LYING, Criminal-Polititians!!)

  • Take the challenge for world peace. /watch?v=Vx-Azsxr_xI

  • The leaders get wayyyyy too much attention...it's what they stand for that is of importance. The conservative platform promotes self actualization and aspiration for greatness by not penalizing individuals and businesses who are disciplined and innovative and driven enough to be successful. If anything, handouts and the liberal platform generate GREATER inequality, encouraging generations of Canadians to rely on gov't funding instead of creatively and actively planning for a successful future.

  • @raspberriesandcream8 Who would penalize hard working, innovative Canadians? Your comment makes no sense. The conservatives waste billions of dollars on shitty jets and then no less, they lie about it in their budget before parliament. You say liberals are giving out handouts, what handouts? The harper government has given tax cuts to the richest 8% of business in Canada for years. How can you side with that?

  • @BCBudder87 How do you think the rich get rich? They work hard and implement ideas that make them money - behaviour and skills that ought to be rewarded. Under the Liberal platform, Canadians are not only discouraged from achieving financial success, knowing that we're going to be penalized by heightened taxes, but further, our hard earned money is going to those who rely on the myriad of social programs that are taken advantage of by people who think the rest of the world owes them something.

  • @raspberriesandcream8 So, with your logic, a person who was poised to be successful would stop befoee they reached their goals of wealth because they might have to give a little away to higher taxes? Sounds pretty far fetched that your higher taxes arguement would deter ppl from being hardworking if they were anyway. Secondly, Canada is a great country BECAUSE of social assistance. Most Canadians would agree we need our social programs; people can't just work themselves out of poverty anymore.

  • @BCBudder87 You're right, it's probably fair to assume that higher taxes won't keep somebody from achieving further success. Yet it doesn't make it right to further tax people who understand how to invest responsibly and live within their means. I fully agree that our country needs and is great because of it's social programs. But there's a distinction between those who NEED the programming, and those with no drive to overcome poverty, satisfied to effectively live on somebody else's dime...

  • @BCBudder87 ...i’m interested in what you mean by your last line, “people can’t just work themselves out of poverty anymore”. What has changed?

  • @raspberriesandcream8 I can't speak for other places, but in Alberta, unfettered capitalism, an economic boom, and little government interest in protecting people meant that rents went through the roof, but most people (outside the oilfield) weren't making enough to pay them. You'd have people with full-time jobs living in tents in the river valley, and the government (Conservative) just says, "Well, the market will even itself out". Great. Thanks a lot.

  • unfortunately for" Iggy",and Canada, the voters of this country do not vote on issues, but rather on whether they like the guy or not.Why else would Stevie "wonder boy ,I'll try not to sing out of key" Harper get up on stage to tickle the ivories for us.Photo ops baby!,thats what getting elected is all about! Who cares that we're becoming the 51st state, walking in lockstep with Washington while gradually losing our sovereignty.Well I do, do you?

  • @jahmobile by "walking in lockstep with Washington", you mean w/ the obama admin.(obama being the best example of political-rock-star-media-approved-labelled-"the one"-by-oprah-photo-op pres. that the states has ever had)? you think maybe yrs. of lib. claims that harper's wooden/robotic/square persuaded his organisers to try to show a more down-to-earth, "tickle the ivories" version?(btw, didn't the left tell us we'd lose sovereignty w/ free-trade 30 yrs. ago? i guess the e.u. & mex. did too?)

  • @jayman1011975 The last thing we need is Steven Harper and his collection of Harris thugs and far-right religious conservatives trying to change Canada into a nightmare vision that resembles Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale. They have already run the deficit up to it's highest level ever and are now busy bankrupting the country with stupid purchases, as a strategy to start deconstructing social medicine and other pillars of Canadian democracy.

  • @richard6775 do you write for "now" magazine, or is it just your sole source of "info"? -- oh, and is ignatieff (someone who wasn't even elected by his own party's delegates) really a good choice to be poster-boy for "let's bring democracy back to canada"?

  • @ChuckNorrisisgod420 Mr Chuck Norris, Thank you for your truly intellectual response and actually confirming my original comment with your very educated words. George W. Harper's days are numbered. p.s. I never too late to seek help...

  • The $1000.00 a year for college students, is false! Its about $425.00!

With the world wide economic downturn are students gullable to believe

education is worth it? Better off investing your funds in real estate!

Property will appreciate in value, education? There are plenty of over

qualified unemployed & underemployed grads. in job market!

  • @FidelCastro128 would you rather live in a place full of undereducated extremists cause iraq is only a few hours of flying away!

  • Try again next time Liberals, Ignatieff is a fail

  • @jayman1011975 you are so ignorant !!!!

  • @jayman1011975 That's what you're basing your vote on??? No wonder Canadian politics has been going down the toilet, ignorant voters.

  • the extradition of Marc Emery, mandatory minimum sentencing and the americanization of Canada have made me firmly regret voting Harper. All the others seem like slightly less assholes, but assholes non the less.

  • I agree with you totally! Vote for the one you hate the least.

Honesty and and transparency in Canadian Governement is a fantasy.

If CBC wants to be a partisan body no problem.

Just take the taxpayer out of the equation and let them run as a private corporation, then it's a level playing field. Same goes for political parties if you want the job and

Gold pension after six years get off your *ss and work for it, prove to canadians that

your deserve it "hear that mister Duceppe, Iggy"?

  • Welfare belongs to provinces. EI is not something meant to "stimulate" the economy, but is as the name suggests: "insurance". Millions of dollats to retrain laid-off, long-tenured workers and an extension of EI benefits if applicants participate in longer-term training of up to two years might be a social institution you are 'against"? If financial discipine is a must for government, why do we have a deficit? You think health care is a handout? c'ya!

  • Since Chretien/Martin, the LPC has needed to Heal, but a la Gerard Kennedy, the knives came out...

No future until they clean their house up... Maybe Carolyn Bennett? 13 yr incumbent..whose more senior?

  • "George" I used to like your show before you showed your stripes as a "Libranos" spokesperson! On many occasions I have witnessed you use a publicly funded CBC (State Run Media) to promote the Liberal viewpoint. This completely destroys your credibility of anything on your show.

"Can you really believe "Iggy" the American who shows up after 35 yrs , and "only he knows what Canadians want", being Prime Minister?

Lose the arrogance and stop trying to tell us what's good for us!

  • @panoshow oh come on. Harpers always telling us whats best for us and he's completely out of touch! No, no different than Iggy, but Harper, being the bible thumping Albertacon that he is, is far more "American" than Iggy ever will be. Harpers values are streamlined with Christian Republican Americans - there is so much documented evidence of this.

  • for anyone who thinks Ignatieff is a liberal PLEASE do a google wiki search on him.

and you'll find something very disturbing. read about his policies and ideas.

this guy's a neocon. and they're creeping into canadian politics too it seems.

  • I don't see how the government has any real influence on the economy. Perhaps, only in collecting tax money and allocating that money to the different social institutions. The real players the economy are the businesses, the workers and the consumers. So, I don't see how changing the government will really make things better.

  • @helical4 it depends on what the government does with the tax money will they put it into the economy, people bitch about the g20 in Toronto but it created a fuck load of jobs/training alot of people at a time when we needed it. by giving corporate tax cuts, gives them more room to keep more employs so they dont have trim down fire people. alot of people in office jobs have BS jobs that company's can do without but tax cuts keep them hired.

  • @helical4 thats just the tip of what the government does with economy, Harper did a pretty good job with the recovery, i say keep him, plus i dont trust the others, liberals really need a new head of party.

  • @helical4 you've got to be kidding. This will the 4th election within 7 years and the first time in the history that a government, ANY government; in the history of Canada that has been taken to task for being in contempt of Parliament. You have to decide (if you wish to be a responsible citizen and voter) what matters to YOU. The economy has never been isolated or immune from the recession.

  • @sucharadder - Raising taxes and putting more money into social instituitions such welfare, employment insurance, pensions, etc. will NOT stimulate the economy. We mustn't allow Canada to turn into a country where people become addicted to government hand-outs. The individual must have financial self-discipline and to ever strive for self-actualization. A minority government will always recieve a non-confidence vote from the opposition if they don't see what they want.

  • iggy is a subvert, communist clown. Rae and Iggy are the greatest threat to Canada's democracy.

  • @bluevlocity407 Have you even lived in communism before??? The closest thing we've had to a dictator in Canadian politics is our current PM and that's comming from someone who has actually lived in communism before. You're incredibly ignorant go get educated.

  • i know what communism is icy. we don't live in a comparatively feudal society today so you can't compare the PM to a dictator. Prime Minister Harper has earned his government from the last election whether you still don't like that or not. Iggy on the other hand involved himself in teach ins during the height of the vietnam war when he was in university. that makes him a subvert. know your facts icy and don't put your foot in your mouth.

PM Harper all the way for a majority!

  • @bluevlocity407 a vote for Harper either means that one simply does not care about Canada or they are grossly ignorant - (The conservative party vote is largely based on this). The first step to saving Canada is to eliminate Harper and his neoconservative party !!!

  • LOL Stephen Harper has spent his whole life slagging Canada to anyone that would listen to him and he did it all while living in Canada. Harper is the guy that never missed an opportunity to tell the world and especially the Americans how much more superior they are to Canada and that Canada needs to become more like the USA. Now that he has been elected he is making sure it happens by enacting 1 failed US policy after another and you dont trust Ignatieff. @Maplestory1: You are insane.

  • @luvdastuf This is true - Canada is pathetic similarity of US. If not US Canada could not survive. Canada has economic because of its big brother where everything is better from democrasy, people minds, services and roads.

  • @Search1110 And yet Americans are trying to come to Canada to get jobs, but there economy is so screwed up. There isn't much in the US to be envious of lately, unless you like being screwed over by your government and corporations. Shame, it used to be such a prosperous place.

  • @mejsmith1 You know what ? You are typical canadian liberal: not even cheater but stupid and boring. I don't like to be bored. So talk to yourself and don't make me wanna puke.

  • @Search1110 Are you off your meds or did you fall on your head a lot as a child? Ignorant people like yourself are to be either pitied or laughed at and I am going for the second.

  • @mejsmith1Again: Are you off your meds... That is typical canadian...

Stupid retard with no ability to think.

Big brother is helping this sick to survive and dumb insects barking back...

You know what? You are boring... Please don't write back if you think you have a little bit shit in you head.

I hope it is not empty vesel. A little shit can give you a little capability to learn how to hold a pen,

    for instance or so.

  • @Search1110 Are we trying for a Green card by kissing up to Yanks or trying to avoid having them invade your country. It isn't like Trinidad and Tobago is such a great place to be.

  • @Search1110 I dont understand how your coming to this. Canada is far from perfect and certainly our democracy need revitilization and change but our economy is recovering despite having a bad government and despite the US failing to recover. Canadian minds, while fewer, are stronger and far more open then american minds. Our services are better then american services.

  • @luvdastuf - How does it make sense to build an economy on taxing everyone and then giving some of that money to only a select few? What it will do is produce a larger and larger group of people ever more hungry for more government hand outs. People need to learn better financial self-discipline, so, they don't feel that the government will always bail them out of their troubles.

  • I don't trust this guy, michael ignatieff...does he even know or care about canada while he spent most of his life in the states? lol

  • Why does Harper always say bad things about the opposition? Why doesn't he say good things about himself? Oh wait, now I remember, there's nothing to say.

  • Comment removed

  • Common George, you gotto ask the tough questions..So is he gonna fund the NHL? you never let him answer, u helped him out by changing the topic. Look, Harper is out for me, the #1 reason being he's trying to allow corporate funding for elections. To me that is selling Canada. I voted for him but now its time for him to go, goodbye!

  • you dont know a near enough about american style politics to make a statement like that. Politics is a dirty game, stop acting like Canadian politicians are above everyone else.

  • @RussiaRocks101 Politics is as dirty as the people involved. Canadians rarely waste time and money on low-brow attack ads. You dont know enough about Canadian politics to make that state either.

  • I'm not thrilled about anyone in the opposition but vote in the next election will be against Harper. His policies are bad enough but his desire to bring in American style politics and news media is enough for me to want to see him out.

  • @hollygolightly66 I agree with you 100%

  • It's true that Harper's attack ads are wasteful and stupid. They're annoying to listen to and unnecessary because people already know Iggy's story and they can judge him based on what he says and what his platform is. They are rejecting him based on those criteria, there is absolutely no cause for the Conservatives to continue ad hominem attacks on Iggy or any of the other leaders. It will be interesting to see how much ground the NDP can gain off the current Liberal weakness if the budget doesn
