@mralanb Well the earlier pianos had single dampers my 1975 has octave strips. With the move to octave strips the only benefits were, less hassle than having to ensure each individual damper was aligned correctly secondly it would also reduce the assembly time of a piano. Apart from that there was no real change in performance until the MK V's dampers which VV have replicated. Hope this helps! :-)
