Even notice in Acts 4:32b "and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them." Today's church is not asking you to sell all you have and give it to the church.
Then, we find-out in Genesis 14:17-24, Abraham tithed to a priest of God before the Law even came about. You might argue how the money is being spent, but not about asking for money.

Furthermore, if you want the church to win souls and make disciples then it has to expand. If the church becomes too small to hold the people, it has to build. Or, it could put up a tent which a storm could easily destroy! Plus, most members want a decent place to worship which now-a-days becomes very expensive. Who else is obligated to keep a church vibrant and afloat, the world? Its one thing if the tithe is being spent wrong, but if not than it is just like paying your dues.

From Cain and Abel to the New Testament church in Acts chapter 4:31 through chapter 5:11 where 2 members were struck-down for lying about what they had withheld. Think of other good non-profits in the world, each member is obligated to give to keep the place afloat. Who else is going to pay the light bill, gas and water bills?

This is often true. I use to preach as a young man and the senior Preachers would attempt to teach me scams to manipulate our listeners. It was very much like this preachers methods. So I left and became a free minded free thinker-- no longer a mental and fanancial slave to relgion.

When i was laying down on my couch i was watching the channel and i was half asleep and i heard this voice and the voice told me these are the false prophets. It showed all these men and women and their eye color turned red in front of my eyes. i stopped watching that channel after that. And i was shown every last one that was on that channel. that was the Lord's way of telling me to stay away from this channel and such lies!

ok.. im 15 years old and i gave my life to christ about a year ago... and i go to a youth group and im the offering and tithe collector.. in the bible it does say to give God your first and best ten%. look at Cain and Abel, and it also sayes that it is the only thing we can challange God. because when we tithe, our 10%, God will bring it back more than we can imagin.

I was deeply saddened while watching this because I know that the point of the video is true and that the minister is manipulating his parishioners. What is most sad is that most probably do not possess the understanding to see the lies. Worse still the minister is in sin for he believes what he says is true. The Tithing Doctrine championed by Pastor Black was ONLY for the OT Jews for the building of God's original Theocracy (for the HEBREW ISREALITES NOT NT CHRISTIANS!!!). Read for the NT church. The problem is that if you don't teach people what is spiritually pleasing to God, but instead substitute it with what naturally pleases man, you have profaned the truth of the Word and the people are left ignorant of the nature of true spiritual living. There is no minimum for giving. Read your Word. Jesus never mentioned it. Paul never mentioned it. According the Word we are to be "cheerful givers." You decide how much that is according to your own wealth, not a percentage.

Tithing is not a bad thing. Some churches call it dues, some call it tithes. I don't mind giving 10% of my income to my church, if I know that the money is going to the bills and morgage/deed even a reasonable salary for the pastor. It's a sin and a shame that sooo many pastors (esp. tele-evangelists) has abused and manipulated people so much, that now when you even mention the words "tithe" or "offering" to some people they cringe. Salvation is free, however bills and missions are not.

Beyond normal maintenance, tithing is used to sustain any and all outreach ministries. We must remember that tithing is an act unto God.

the key to making it work is to get them excited about giving their tithes and offerings. That's why he was so adamant about making them say amen. So now whenever they hear him speak on tithing and giving they are programmed to get excited by responding with feverent "amens" and praise. Creflo Dollar is notorious in doing this. This is why when challenged Creflo says something like "oh I'm not comanded to give my tithe I get to give my tithe" And the people celebrate.

There is not a single scripture in the new testament that says the tithe and offering is to be done away with under the new covenant written with the blood of Jesus. Tithes were given before the law. The old testament patriarchs knew about tithing before the law. Under the law giving was out of fear of the penalty of breaking the law. Under the new covenant God wants our motivation for giving to be "LOVE". Giving to support the Pastor of the church and to further the cause of Christ (Evangelism)
As a young black man it's a shame you know so little about the most powerful entity in the black community, the black church. We being at the bottom of the economic ladder, we do the best we can to help support the church. I should know, I've been pastoring for 8 years and have never and never will take a salary. As most black preachers do we work and pastor (except for a privileged few) and none of us are getting rich. Too bad the TV preachers (Dollar/Jakes) give the rest of us a bad name.
Rev. Black is not a nutcase, he is a long time staple in the black Baptist Church, unlike Creflo Dollar who's getting rich following the dollars to white folks. These deceivers want these women to remain without a man so that the preacher can be the only man in their ear that is controlling these women. Even notice in Acts 4:32b "and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them." Today's church is not asking you to sell all you have and give it to the church.
Then, we find-out in Genesis 14:17-24, Abraham tithed to a priest of God before the Law even came about. You might argue how the money is being spent, but not about asking for money.

@TimothyPhillips On that part where Abraham gave a tenth of all, it was from the spoils of war, and the other 90% excluding the provisions that the soldiers took for themselves was given back to the kings. If you study the topic of tithes, it was from animals and crops, not money. Lev. 27:31, "If a man indeed redeems any of his tithes, he adds one-fifth to it." Redeeming is the same as getting money for the value of the tithe, and that 20% penalty was to discourage redeeming the tithe.

Tithing is a lie. This is a doctrine of man not God. We are no longer under the law but rather the law of the Spirit. Further the priesthood has changed and is changed to the tribe of Judah and the order of Melchezidek. Abraham paid titihes to Melchezidek. Levi was in the loins of Abraham paying tithes to Melchezidek, but we who are blood washed and under the better covenant are from priesthood of Melchizedek.

Furthermore, if you want the church to win souls and make disciples then it has to expand. If the church becomes too small to hold the people, it has to build. Or, it could put up a tent which a storm could easily destroy! Plus, most members want a decent place to worship which now-a-days becomes very expensive. Who else is obligated to keep a church vibrant and afloat, the world? Its one thing if the tithe is being spent wrong, but if not than it is just like paying your dues.

The money was used to ensure that everyone was taken care of as there was need in the church. While I agree that some preachers manipulate, this is not the type of sermon to make the point. If you believe the Bible, tithing is found all throughout the Bible. From Cain and Abel to the New Testament church in Acts chapter 4:31 through chapter 5:11 where 2 members were struck-down for lying about what they had withheld. Think of other good non-profits in the world, each member is obligated to give to keep the place afloat. Who else is going to pay the light bill, gas and water bills?

Ok i'll tell you what I will bring my billy goat into the church for an offering and we will see if he will accept that as my tithes and offering. Then at the end of the year when my cattle gets finished having their young then I will bring one of my bulls into this church buliding. What a laught! I ahev been pastoring for almost 20 years and I have never taken up one offering in our Church. the people give to the work of the ministry as they see fit. A Cheerful giver! This is often true. I use to preach as a young man and the senior Preachers would attempt to teach me scams to manipulate our listeners. It was very much like this preachers methods. So I left and became a free minded free thinker-- no longer a mental and fanancial slave to relgion.

Kinda think the commentary is extra, we should all read what the Bible says about tithing and giving, but this video has a bias just like the man preaching does. some of the stuff the man is saying is "off", but so is some of the commentary, the commentary is just opinions. Statistically speaking, only 20% of the church gives consistently to support ministry. My Pastor doesnt take a salary from the church, so I know that/s not true. What I don't understand about Christians is that they can go to the mall and spend money they don't have. then they have the audacity to go to church and put in a dollar. on top of that, they get down right hostile toward preachers asking for money. our economy is in trouble because of our own greed and selfishness...and we're judging pastors....hypocritical to me. what would happen to churches without money to pay bills?

If "tithing" was that important, why did Jesus Christ not emphasize or even preach about it? 1) Because Abraham tithed from the spoils of the battle he won. 2) In the Old Testament the Levitical priests were the ones ordained to receive the tithes.3) The Israelites were to bring the tithe into the HOUSE OF GOD( store house), the TEMPLE which was at Jerusalem. 4) Jesus knew the TEMPLE was going to be DESTROYED.(5) Jesus knew there will be no organised Levitical priests but pimps and charlatans.

When i was laying down on my couch i was watching the channel and i was half asleep and i heard this voice and the voice told me these are the false prophets. It showed all these men and women and their eye color turned red in front of my eyes. i stopped watching that channel after that. And i was shown every last one that was on that channel. that was the Lord's way of telling me to stay away from this channel and such lies!

ok.. im 15 years old and i gave my life to christ about a year ago... and i go to a youth group and im the offering and tithe collector.. in the bible it does say to give God your first and best ten%. look at Cain and Abel, and it also sayes that it is the only thing we can challange God. because when we tithe, our 10%, God will bring it back more than we can imagin.

the whole notion of tithing is just a pharisee's tax. Don't be fooled people. Give out of the kindness and warmth of the spirit inside of you. Not because these assholes need a new suit. If you're called to give, go out on the streets, and give money and love to the homeless. Jesus doesn't have a minimum percentage, don't ever think that. There is no accounting department in heaven.

I was deeply saddened while watching this because I know that the point of the video is true and that the minister is manipulating his parishioners. What is most sad is that most probably do not possess the understanding to see the lies. Worse still the minister is in sin for he believes what he says is true. This is why the Lord says "broad is the gate that leads to destruction" for so many walk through it. Yet if you do tithing with a sincere heart you are blameless in Christ.

The Tithing Doctrine championed by Pastor Black was ONLY for the OT Jews for the building of God's original Theocracy (for the HEBREW ISREALITES NOT NT CHRISTIANS!!!). Read for the NT church. Tithing is not mentioned. The NT says to GIVE what they can afford not a fixed sum, and it certainly does not promise a financial harvest. HealthWealth Prosperity is another (carnal) gospel! It saddens me that there are still people who even though given the truth they will believe otherwhise. Repent.

The problem is that if you don't teach people what is spiritually pleasing to God, but instead substitute it with what naturally pleases man, you have profaned the truth of the Word and the people are left ignorant of the nature of true spiritual living. False and erroneous teaching is DANGEROUS to your life and you understanding of God, It can prevent you from having a genuine relationship with Him in real love, not just blind faith.

There is no minimum for giving. Read your Word. Jesus never mentioned it. Paul never mentioned it. According the Word we are to be "cheerful givers." You decide how much that is according to your own wealth, not a percentage.

Tithing is not a bad thing. Some churches call it dues, some call it tithes. I don't mind giving 10% of my income to my church, if I know that the money is going to the bills and morgage/deed even a reasonable salary for the pastor. It's a sin and a shame that sooo many pastors (esp. tele-evangelists) has abused and manipulated people so much, that now when you even mention the words "tithe" or "offering" to some people they cringe. Salvation is free, however bills and missions are not.

Tithing is biblical and is mandated by God. In the old testament, animal sacrifices were given as tithes because that was the form of currency. When the Bible speak of tithing in Malachi and says tithing ensures that there will be meat in the house of God, meat refers to sustinence. Tithing is to be used to maintain the place of worship. Beyond normal maintenance, tithing is used to sustain any and all outreach ministries. We must remember that tithing is an act unto God.

the key to making it work is to get them excited about giving their tithes and offerings. That's why he was so adamant about making them say amen. So now whenever they hear him speak on tithing and giving they are programmed to get excited by responding with feverent "amens" and praise. Creflo Dollar is notorious in doing this. This is why when challenged Creflo says something like "oh I'm not comanded to give my tithe I get to give my tithe" And the people celebrate.

90% of people attending church are poor, problem is they don't want to think of themselves as poor.
If you can't buy a car with car or a house with cash, then you're poor.
If you live from paycheck to paycheck you're poor.
If you have to save to get what you need which take time, then you're poor
Keep in mind that when I say "POOR" I'm only speaking of the financial area of your life.
You could be rich in other areas besides money. A millionaire could have poor health.

The church that it is in today has never been in worst spiritual shape that it is in today. False doctrine and teachings is normal today. There is not a single scripture in the new testament that says the tithe and offering is to be done away with under the new covenant written with the blood of Jesus. Tithes were given before the law. The old testament patriarchs knew about tithing before the law. Under the law giving was out of fear of the penalty of breaking the law. Under the new covenant God wants our motivation for giving to be "LOVE". Giving to support the Pastor of the church and to further the cause of Christ (Evangelism)

As a young black man it's a shame you know so little about the most powerful entity in the black community, the black church. We being at the bottom of the economic ladder, we do the best we can to help support the church. I should know, I've been pastoring for 8 years and have never and never will take a salary. As most black preachers do we work and pastor (except for a privileged few) and none of us are getting rich. Too bad the TV preachers (Dollar/Jakes) give the rest of us a bad name.

Rev. Black is not a nutcase, he is a long time staple in the black Baptist Church, unlike Creflo Dollar who's getting rich following the dollars to white folks. Everything he taught is sound doctrine and if y'all can't eat the meat that he's serving then go back to the milk. It's a shame that a few folk have to tithe to help keep the lights on at the church while everyone else complains about giving money. It's always those that complain the most that always give the least.

They are few but some pastor's actually do give an opportunity for people to give FREE of manipulative tactics.
