@VenzaMaiden It all sound angry. Every song pretty much sounds the same. Instead of having dynamic song structures it basically goes verse, bridge, chorus over and over. the lyrics are terrible. There's hardly any keyboard, and there's no organs, no neoclassical elements at all really. Most of the riffs are shitty rip offs of Nevermore or Pantera. It sounds like they are trying to be heavy to be mainstream. It has no feeling at all anymore. Sounds modern.

You are 100% right. But I'd also add that the last 2 albums(paradise lost + iconoclast) are not as inspired. Very technical and precise for sure, but for me they are missing the spark.

@dtrox84 Me too. I liked Paradise Lost and will propably like the new one as well, but the song-writing has become too guitar based, too riff-based, too "metal" or whatever. I think SX is at its best when there is a balance between keys and guitars, between melodic beauty and heavy metal. But that balance has somehow been lost on the last albums.
I hate these SX-DT arguments. I love both bands equally(well maybe DT a bit more since I've listened to them for longer). Both are incredible in their own right and should not be compared as prog is so diverse, they essentially have different styles. Sym X is more power metal than DT yet both are prog metal.
No one should hate on either band. Give the other band a chance and you would maybe appreciate them.
Symphony X is an amazing band, I really enjoy they music, but I'm still prefer Dream Theater 'cause it isn't as heavy as Symphony X, but is just my opnion...

Apart from that, i'm an open-minded person and i do think our goverments hide info from us. and yes, Mayans,Aztecs,Greeks, Egyptians,Incas,etc..were incredibly advanced civilizations and always with things in common.

Maybe not the mythical under water kingdom, but I do believe that there was once an island there that was swallowed by something.

@asabovesobelow90 And no demi god would mean they are half god correct? I think that there was/is some type of supreme being that we dont fully understand working in a context. It might not be exactly how any religion portrays it in my opinion. Who knows 100% that is why I hate when people argue which is right because it could be One supreme being who created more less supreme it could be the whole creationism point of view. Demi gods to me are legend, but im not sure.

Why are you guys talking about Dream Theater? Symphony X is nothing like Dream Theater, and by the way for some people who are confused, don't listen to the idiot commenter s on YouTube, Dream Theater is just as awesome of Symphony X (if not more.) But they are very different bands, I recommend this album, and Dream Theaters Metropolis P2.

@MetaI4Brains no, portnoy was trying to regroup with the band but for no apparent reason they would not let him! no bad blood, no complications between them whatsoever. They basically just mindlessly rid of one of the best talented drummers on the face of this god forsaken planet! to me and a lot others, dream theater is dead now. there music don't even sound amazing anymore and i really don't like the new drummer. oh yeah, Symphony X the new kings of prog metal!

@dtrox84 Me too. I liked Paradise Lost and will propably like the new one as well, but the song-writing has become too guitar based, too riff-based, too "metal" or whatever. I think SX is at its best when there is a balance between keys and guitars, between melodic beauty and heavy metal. But that balance has somehow been lost on the last albums.

I hate these SX-DT arguments. I love both bands equally(well maybe DT a bit more since I've listened to them for longer). Both are incredible in their own right and should not be compared as prog is so diverse, they essentially have different styles. Sym X is more power metal than DT yet both are prog metal.
No one should hate on either band. Give the other band a chance and you would maybe appreciate them.
