  • Did he stall it alittle two times but he did preddy good

  • Looks good to me. Atleast you are off your couch and living life !

  • been there

  • that is a great view of a beach

  • hard landing

  • @ae4xo Very intelligent observation. hahaha

  • gah; that landing hurt just watching.

  • @jofus2019 Thats how one learns :)

  • @jofus2019 That's how one learns :)

  • Filming eeeverything but the actual flying..

  • excellent video!

  • this guy on video on my page watch it hes puerto rican and white suposely got his cessna license do u know him? the guy at the beginning is black but watch the whole video tell me if u know him ok?

  • Are stalls scary because i never did one berfore and im going to do my lessen this week on stalls?

  • hey man do u know what is the least expensive flight school in the san fernando valley? because i want to get my license but was looking for a flight school that wasnt expensive

  • 27 hours into PPL training. Hardest thing I've done so far is slow flight with the foggles on. Was pretty proud of myself for the first few minutes. Made transition to slow flight fine. Then made the left turn ( missed my heading a bit, but otherwise fine ) Started the right turn in good shape and BAM! Disorientation hit me like a ton of bricks. CFI had to make the recovery. Sigh. Hope it gets better.

  • I have to do the same stuff your doing only, I'm doing it now.

  • Bad take off, you need to be on the center of runway when you make the take off, is the same like when you make the landing, but the flight was nice, have fun and study hard :P

  • Notice the date of the video : March 13, 2007. That was first week of my training. Three years passes since then, and things got much better. so you can check out my other videos that I have posted and see yourself:)

  • @Andreas20a bro its training give em props hes doing awesome u can do tht centerline shit later on just work on the basics

  • howardsj9

Hows the training going? I just turned 14.

    Theflyingkid1

  • How high were you?

  • I don't remember. This was a long time ago

  • ive just started doing my ppl gound schooling, yesterday we talked about stalls and how to recover from it, by increasing power and lowering angle of attack. cant wait to do my flight

  • Cool vid... I'm getting my sport license in a Tecnam Bravo!

  • wtf u r talking about dude (TonyDog360)

  • Holy shit, I forgot how slow those things are. The landing looked like slow motion. I can't believe the tires didn't blow on that landing either. He thought he was landing an F-18 on the carrier.

  • WHAT? NO TURBULANCE :D

  • what you do need is a new camera guy...this guy is an idiot, cant sit still and just record forward..what an idiot

  • I'm afraid of getting a grouchy instructor.

  • in Australia by aviation you are not allowed to use electric devics once on the air. you guys are lucky

  • What? No... that's only in a commercial aircraft. Clearly you're not a pilot, and just based your info off a little commercial, domestic flight. And even on commercial flights you can when you reach cruise altitude.

  • Be a littbe bit more specific because airlines don't allow it. But general aviation does.

  • nice dude! I have just started this year and taken only one lesson once a week or fortnight because financially im not stable as yet but its cool andl loving it also got great instructor.

    all the best for u

  • thats great, dont expect him to stick around for too long tho :D

  • god damn i hate steep turns...lol

  • would anybody know how to record the radio chatter in videos?

  • You'd need to plug your video camera into the audio jack in your aircraft, I think only newer aircrafts are equipped with this jack.

  • I dare say the comms needs to be fitted with some sort of distribution unit to generate an Audio Out from both headset channels.

  • I am 13 years old and my friend and I are starting flight training!!! I cant wait!!

  • Cool! Get ready to spend 4 years and who knows how many thousands of dollars getting your license when you could have just started when you were 16 and got it done in a year!

  • LOL

  • I dont understand...

You can get your Solo Permit when you're 14.

You can doo all of the hours and schooling for your rec permit when you're 14+...

It doesnt matter how old you are, starting young is the best thing to do.

That way you have a more flexible schedule, you dont have to pay alot of money in one year, etc.

Btw, you're going to have to spend those "Thousands" of dollars if you start early or "Late"

    Good day.

  • rcreview, the age for flying solo is 16. well it is in america anyways

  • Ah, well in Canada it is 14 :P

  • I'm 13 as well and I have started flight training. Good Luck to you and your friend!

    Safe Flying!

    Theflyingkid1

  • im 14 and ive been training. i love it.

  • astoria1019 Yeah i'm 13 it's pretty fun isn't it? Have you had your first landing yet? Congrats on your training!

    Theflyingkid1

  • yeah. where are you from? im in the U.S. New York City.

  • me and my dad are going to start flight training, i am so excited.

  • nice vid, im currently undergoing flight training at uni in Australia, my instructor seems to flare a little later in the landing and gets them really gentle, you seemed to baloon a bit.

  • wat uni r u going to? Im in Australia too, hoping to do aviation at uni

  • yes it is. i believe it is the most purchased aircraft in the world. very reliable, very long lasting. thats why you can still feel safe flying a 30+ year old plane.

  • I want to be a pilot, and I'm currently looking at flight schools online. I hear that the Cessna 172 is the most common trainer.

  • Try l00king at delta connection academy, embry-riddle aeronautical university, cessna flight school, or the lufthansa and continental airlines airline school and training program.

  • I want to be a pilot, and I'm currently looking at flight schools online. I hear that the Cessna 172 is the most common trainer.

  • i should be starting my private pilot lessons soon. the only thing right now is the money, it is upwards of 10,000USD at MDW, the closest airport to my house. Every time I see these videos it just makes me want to go and fly. Thanks

  • helo ebs752, aw are you? am happy we share the same dream about becoming a pilot but believe me its all about money. Am looking foward to having my PPL soon i guess it should be in south africa as flight training is not too expensive and training rendered is standard.

  • Great vid buddy! I just started my PPL training last week. I am hooked! I even love the textbook work, such cool stuff!

  • how did you start man!?

  • Drove down to the local airport, found a reputable flight training school, walked in and said " I want to learn to fly a plane " easy peasy

  • O man the memories of my flight school days at BWI. I gotta admit I still like the 172 although I now fly a 210pt

  • Seriously, to me it looked like the in guy in the right seat was the student, he look like a teenager from the back seat, and the dude on the left was the instructor, idk it just did,

Take that as a compliment, you look like an instructor... Sorry to say your cameraman wasn't very good.

  • LOL, wait... I just realized the student is in the left seat, lol! I was watching thinking the guy in the left seat was the instructor... then again that wouldn't make much sense would it?

  • the student is always in the "Pilot in command seat" to train him.

  • flying is great and fun but the camera work sucks

    PROTIP: dont zoom at EVERYTHING

  • congrats on your PPL man i am getting mine soon. are you thinkikng commercial?

  • yea... i and i am gonna do something about it

  • Nice job and congratulations on getting your license.

I agree with you about not including music in the video: The sound of the plane (engine, stall warning, etc) is all the music you need.

  • What were you forgetting?

  • Don't be discouraged by people who trash ur flying LESSON --- notice how they have no videos of ace flying themselves. HAHA... Some people....

  • Nice piece of flying, man. I'm gonna start taking ground school soon, and after 8 weeks of that, I'll be able to start taking lessons. I'll be learning in a Cessna 150 Commutor. It's a 2 seater plane, and a little smaller than the cessna 172 Skyhawk. When I start taking lessons in the spring or summer, I'll post some videos of it. Great video.

  • Great landscape out there in the west. I wish that I could fly out there. Great stall recoveries. You lost very minimal altitude.

  • man, i want to fly !

will you come and pick me up in Canada?

  • ya if you pay for it.. haha

  • haha! Yeah you could be my instructor, i want to become a pilot myself after high school, always wanted to be one but know very limit

  • ed about the career, is the training hard? what about the job, you have any info on that, i knw you are just starting out lol!

  • I am not doing this for career. this all is just for fun. and I have my license now. check my other flight videos

  • im 17 and just started my ppl training, how long was it for you to do your first take off??

  • about 12 hours

  • thanks,and your first landing?

  • cool buddy!

I flown one today, i'm hoping to get my lisences by September.

    I love cessna 172

  • Come back here and let us know when you get it;)

    Wishing you good luck

  • Thanks :) I will

  • You're quite a lucky guy. I want to get my PPL but I'll have to wait until I'm 18 and finish High School (I'm 16 right now, you can get the license here, Spain at 17 but my parents wouldn't let me and it's to expensive to pay it myself 8k Euro, about $12500)

  • The day will come when you will get off the ground as a PIC of the airplane! :)

Keep dreaming and one day it will be true

  • Thanks for your kind answer. Definitly I'll be doing an integrated ATPL after going to university. The pilot world is very tough, and in Spain, even more (about 4000 pilots are jobless, and another 4000 are flying, that's a 50% without job!).

Very good luck and nice landings with your future licenses if you want to get them! ;)

  • in the begginin' u said: mayday mayday were going down xD

ps.: u could have put some music... this airplane motor sound is really loud and a bit anoying... I Hope u get the Pilot's License :D Good Luck

PS.: Would u give me a ride? xD

  • I love that noise :)

and YES I'd give you a ride (id you share the price;) hahah)

  • :D okay m8

  • hey dude i'm taking Private pilot ground school at GCC in Glendale. Do you know if they have a good program there, and if not where is a better place to learn.

  • send me a pv message. gimme your email and we can talk

  • The approch ok However his final was low and Flare was alittle late. Maybe his air speed was low due to approach But all and all I do love his flying skills

  • That was my early training video

  • Hi , you're lucky to have tranining like this. I live in İstanbul and on 8th of June this year hopefully i'll start my PPL traning in İstanbul. I will step to my 17th year at 8th of June. :D i hope you and i can get what we want :D

  • If you want to fly one day you will fly!

  • thanks, if i can have some money in next 6 months, i will fly.

  • do faa ppl, much easier and its ICAO so u can use it back in europe. takes half the time to finnish it. over here its 16 to solo, and 16 to hold ppl.

  • Actually, you can't. FAA and JAA are two different regulations inside ICAO. You have to pay money and perhaps do some refresh courses to make FAA valid in a JAA regulated country and viceversa.

A lot of pilots go to USA to get their CPL and ATPL (FAA) and when they get back to europe they have to pay a lot of money (Sometimes more than 30.000€) and do courses (which also cost money) to convalidate it.

  • ATPL and CPL are different regs than PPL, FAA PPL is official for ICAO, the only thing you would need to do to fly in europe is have the licence and get checked out on what ever plane you are flying, i did that and it is allowed by IAA and CAA authorities, just takes 1 or 2 hours to get checked off on a plane. I converted from learning on a PA-28 to a cessna 172 and took 2 hours, no exams and i was good to go... (ATPL AND CPL are not icao thats why u gotta do full conversion!)

  • I live in yorkshire, UK. where would anyone recommend for me to take flying lessons. i would appreciate your recommendation.

  • hi how are you i dont live in the uk but its easy to find a school. just go to google or something and typr flying lessons in yorkshire and i found heaps of stuff. give them a call and they will tell you everything. its much easier to find a school here in sydney australia lol bye

  • iam 15 and getting my ppl and will be doing my solos this year

  • good luck buddy

  • dont think so, u need to be atleast 16 to solo and 17 to get PPL

  • I am 14 and I am starting my JAR-PPL in Dundee, Scotland next year. Do you have any tips?

P.S I am only alowed to do my solo when I am 16.

  • Maybe you should wait until you are 15 and half to start your training. If you are starting now just fly once a month. Until you reach 16 you will have enough hours and skills to be signed off for solo.

  • Thank you..I will keep that in mind!

  • What would you say is the most difficult part in getting your PPL? Also, did you pass your final flight the first time?

  • If you wanna be a bad pilot there is nothing difficult. If you wanna be a good pilot the hardest part is the discipline to study.

Yes, I did pass the first time.

  • what does ppl stand for

  • Private Pilot License

  • one more thing, how long did it take you to get your ppl?

  • Three Months

  • this is what im working on in my flight lessons.i havent been in a while and i miss my 172.nice vid yo.

  • 5:17 wtf is the beepage?

I've yet to find a video like this which focuses on the control panel and avionics - that'd be interesting.

  • it's the stall warning

  • boring

  • nice vid.

  • thank you for answering my question it really helped me a lot. Now i have one more question to ask you. how long would it take me to complete my PPL training? or how long does it normally take?

    Thank you.

  • It depends on the founds you can have available. If the weather cooperates and money are not an issue two-three months would be a good estimate.

  • hi, congratulations in getting your PPL

I have a question.... I'm interested in getting my PPL do i have to have atleast 40 hrs of flying hrs in order to get it? (would i make those 40 hrs during the training? do i get my license after i do my training?

  • The requirements to take the practical test will put you at more than 40 hours. You will build those hours during your training. You can go to FAA-s website and read the Part 61 of FARs.

  • CESSNA 172 is a very good airplane, i know cause i have this kind of rating.. just be careful out there buddy!!!

  • im 14 which means i can start logging hours and just want to get up as soon as i can.could any1 plzz suggest what a resonable price would be for complete beginner lessons. thanx..

  • hm a good price is about 6,400 with everything including books and ground school and flight time ... hmm i think u can get ur licence at 17 and start at 16.. not 14

  • thanx for the info..much appreciated

  • if you want to log hours when your 14, join air cadets like me and you can do aerobatics in a "grob tutor".

  • i wud join in a shot but im already with a very specalised marine band for youths but the good news is...it turns out my coison who i didnt even no about..long story.owns an air ambulance company they take people home wen a normall airline wouldnt cause of insurance and stuff.....i hav a lot of respect for the raf cadets we reccieved a salute of you during a rememberence parade wen no one else (sea cadets)bothered another squaderen lead us onto a display field once as well...thanx very anyway

  • no in the uk you can start logging hours when you're 14

    just to clarify things

  • kool, interestin, but in the same age,you can not drive a car ,ironical

  • 65-70 for Cessna 150's & 152's & about 80-90 an hour .and your looking at 35 to 45 an hour for a instructor.. Start in 150 or 152's then once you get license easy transition to 172 then that way your not flying a four seater with only two people in it.

  • thanks so much for all the help.i hav had so much response to my one comment it just goes to show how aviation really unites people and brings out their best qualities

  • thanks so much for all the help.i hav had so much response to my one comment it just goes to show how aviation really unites people and brings out their best qualities

  • I haven't flown fix-wing since 97 ,I have been trying to get rotor-wing ad-on but had some set backs ($) and actually all week I been thinking of just going back to fix-wing ... then see helicopter video and i want to do that too .. can't decide..

  • when departing from Weston EIWT within the Dublin CTA (Irish Airspace) you must be careful as it is very close to Millitary airspace at Casement/Baldonnel AFB - also on flights to Connacht EIKN it changes from VMC to IMC very quickly - we had to return to Dublin Intl EIDW 28 in IFR as we could not divert to Sligo EISG or Birr EIBR in a 172

  • dont forget the checlist buddy, really helps..

  • Well I am not forgetting

  • No run up?

  • runup is not in the film

  • well done guys , my test is on monday.Congratulations

    on your future !!!

  • Good luck on your test

  • Congratulations *claps hands* I mean seriously I have alot of respect for you.. being able to get up there and do all of your hours and training and text book work... keep going and youll get to were you wanna be.. nothing can stop you now that you have this

  • cool vid,i want to be an airline pilot when im older, check out my flight sim vids!

  • hi there buddy,im a pilot also and plans to join the airlines!! regards and good luck!

  • Good luck

  • cool. i live in North Hollywood. Do you fly commercially? I have been looking to fly out of either burbank or van nuys to big bear airport with my wife and two kids. if so, how much for round trip? my brother owns a lodge there, we could put you up for a few days while we are there. Just wondering. Thanks.

  • Hey. thanks for the comment. I've sent you a private message

  • Sounds great, thanks for responding! Would you be available yourself, or do you know of a company or another pilot that could do it? Could you please email me at ijnr@hotmailcom when you have a chance?

    Thanks,, Jim

  • Any thoughts to pass on about the solo flight. Mine should be taking place I hope next this week, maybe friday. I got 8.5 hrs up right now so I'm close.

  • I am doing my training too, on a Cessna 172. Flying is awesome

  • Cherokee is good too. Give a try if you have a chance :)

  • Congrats on your PPL.

  • Thanks

  • nice but thats the most aweful filming i've ever seen..

  • Well the fliming guy was a first time flyer :)

  • good job pal :D, how far on are you with training?

  • I've got my PPL a month ago. Watch out my other videos. The whole training took me about three months.

  • Nice Video!

  • wow brother, i would have died because of nerves! omg that takes balls man. good job and good luck, be safe!

  • cool

  • Got my icense in '87 and bought a 172. Flew a few years then moved on. Great memories! I loved hearing the stall alarm during slow flight. It was great to just hear the 172's reliable engine. The video had me feeling for rudders under my desk here at work, and looking for the carb heat knob and flaps when you were on final. Thanks for the great memories!

  • Glad to read your post. I put this video up here especially for people like you, since you see that this videos is not much interesting for a non-pilot :)

I am pretty much sure those who have done the training will rally have their sweet memories back :) the stall horn on the slow flight and efforts to keep it pointing where it is supposed to go, or that feeling of the pre-stall buffering :) hehe :)

  • was that a no-flaps landing??

  • It was a partial flap landing because of the wind and the shaking. And I retracted the flaps right after I put the nose down

  • I thought it was a good video, and a good effort by yourself armanys2003...I hope to begin flying soon myself...i've always dreamed of doing it, and i think i'm going to do it...I notice that a lot of people/places on the internet try to put you off from flying commercially these days though.

  • Yea, you should go for it if you really want! :)

  • How's this for first time "Discovery Flight":

Took off heavy IFR @ Long Beach, overcast @ 3000, bird mine from take-off all the way to the practice area at 5000 VFR. Did stalls n stuff.

If we didn't need land by instruments I could have landed her myself.

Heheh, all that PC sim time wasn't such a waste after all.

There's a "cell phone" adapter from Sporty's for patching into the comms system next time, if ur camcorder has an aux/mic input.

  • Though I know that in Long Beach you are getting an overcast pretty often I don't see a reason why did your instructor take you into IMC for your first time. I had a lot of SIM experience too. On the other hand if he took you into IMC and you had enough SIM experience he should let you dly down the ILS too.. why he didn't let you do that?

And thanks for the cable tip

  • Well to be fair we could see some patches of blue from the ground before we got up that morning. Then the marine layer got thick after a half hour or so buzzing around the pattern, not to mention other traffic kinda got busy. G'bye visual approach.

Sims of choice were military type; didn't know how to set/read 172's ILS dials at the time. OTOH, if you want me to try a night carrier trap flying the meatball in an F-14...heheh.

  • how old are you?

  • old enough get my PPL :)

If you want to know that ask me in private .. :)

  • Good video, best of luck with fly training!
