In Davis speech o f Janurary of 63, after Lincoln's EP, Davis exlaimed that the EP was "crowning proof" that Lincoln intended to stop slavery after all.
The South had claimed all through the election of 1860 that abolition was Lincoln's real goal - Lincoln had claimed he only sought to stop the SPREAD of slavery (because slavery would die if confined).

It was written that they could be moved from state to state in the CSA constitution thus increasing the distance between them. As Davis himself showed us this in and of itself would destroy it. The slave trade was a New England system.

@rebel2276 I have the interview with Stephens in his later years. He does not claim anythign of the sort. In fact, he gave t his cornerstone speech several times, in several places. And in 1879 or so, he was asked about them. He confirmed them.
In fact, he said that he had edited the speeches for the reporters AT the time, and that they were correct/
