  • Wow, I remember watching this as it happened - my father worked on this satellite, and when it launched, the whole family came down to Orbital to watch it go. Then we hear the whole "hold consoles" thing, and we're going, "Oh, crap, what just happened?"

  • AW!! Just another $ 400 million in the dust for NASA! Time to start issuing those pretty pink slips for careless oversights. Engineers didn't get the enormous pay raise and bonuses last year so these unsuccessful missions are inevitable.

  • @CanadaUniv1 Compare that $400 million to what the people building and launching communications satellites are throwing away every time they have a launch failure - sometimes on the order of $2 BILLION. Science missions are chump change compared to commercial satellites. And I resent your implication about "not getting pay raises." My father worked on OCO, and he worked his damn heart out on it. He would've volunteered to do it if they wouldn't pay him - it was that important to him.

  • Inconceivable...Failure is not an option!
