The whole British aviation industry is relatively safe. On this programme (air crash investigation) which i have seen hundreds of times only three have shown british planes. One was the premature landing at heathrow (non casualties) the other was when a pilot got sucked out the cockpit window (no casualties) and the other was when a plane caught fire whilst taxiing where sadly roughly half the passengers died.
@fightingtemeraire it wasnt the ATC it was the skyguide's fault. people who blamed that controller are stupid and need to learn their facts. not saying u or anything but just saying it wasnt ATC fault.
Of course, with only 233 aircraft and 169 destinations, BA is also a very tiny airline. With a combined total of 2396 aircraft and 1126 destinations, each of only the top five airlines in the USA (American, Delta, Continental, US, & United) are a great deal larger. It's not surprising that a small airline, with few aircraft and few destinations, would have less incidents than other much larger airlines.
No matter which airline you fly with u have about the same chance of dying as any other airline. It matters which plane you fly in. The airlines don't amke the planes. Plus Korean Air has better service in my opinion.
Right!!! Blame pilot error on the Aircraft manufactures..
You are the one who is misinformed.
Korean Air has one of the WORST safety records outside of Aeroflot. It is STILL on many airlines NO FLY list for when their own pilots fly commercial.
Their procedures and training MAY have gotten better due to the strict standards imposed by their code share alliance, and the increase of foreign pilots flying for them. I still don't trust them.
to some extent airline matters. other airlines have different levels of pilot training and maintenance procedures. Southwest is likely to be less safe than AA for example. They have slimmer profit margins, and have to save where they can.
the airline can make a difference on the service quality basis, if you go with a cheap airline on older planes which are possibly serviced not as well, increases risk dont it?
if im going to die, id rather choose dying on a plane crash. atleast your not alone

No Deaths and there was no evidence to suggest it was the carriers fault rather than boeings

I'm not saying that because i'm from the UK. When you look at BA history. It's very good.

British airways only has one fatal accident, a mid air collision caused by poor ATC.

Capt. asked FO for 20 NM deviation, but FO asked ATC for 10 NM. Reconstruction error?

I think you'll have to rope in considerations such as:
1) Pilot training
2) FA training for emergencies
3) Maintenance procedures
Adam Air is an example of having a very bad safety record. They flew B737 and crashed quite a few. The plane's fault? Don't think so...
thrawn80 2 years ago
@thrawn80 Yep. I hate the Adam Air. It's not the plane fault.
