  • i need help im a drummer and i was wondering what would be the best headphones for a drummer to use please answer ive tried beats by dre and they werent good at all =(

  • @mexicanrussianhomer I'd go with either the Beyerdynamic DT770 or the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II. High isolation and excellent build with a fair amount of clamp on the head.

  • @aeriescannonfodder ty whats there price range?

  • @mexicanrussianhomer Around 180-200 for either.

  • I also like the dt880 250 ohm but are they going to perform good enough plugged into a laptop without the amp?

  • What are your favorite closed headphones at ~$300?

  • I was wandering of all headphones on the market no matter the price. What would you say is the best headphones for all kinds of use? Such as music of all kinds, movies, videogames, and so forth.

  • @MarkIrwin02 Sell your car and mortgage a middle-class home expensive? The 10k+ Stax SR-009 and electrostatic amplifier combination. Toss in a 3k smyth realiser for calibration and...I don't know what.

  • @aeriescannonfodder So the total cost for everything would be what? Cuase if I go and do buy new ones I will only buy the best. No matter the price. Heck for our house I am looking at buying 30,000 pair of speakers. this is only 2 speakers in a full home theather aray setup.

  • @MarkIrwin02 Erm,

    Stax SR-009 - $5200

    HIgh-end electrostatic amp - $5000

    Smyth Realiser A8 - $2910

Assuming a new DAC will be dragged into this, that can tack on another 2k for about 15k for our loudspeaker substitute.

  • @aeriescannonfodder Thank you.

  • @tmtm325 It should do a fairly good job of powering it. Not the greatest, but plenty of juice inside.

  • to you which closed over ear headphone(under$300) sounds best

  • which do you prefer

beyerdynamic dt 770 pro or AKG q701

  • Hi Tyll, I am going to purchase a beyerdynamic product soon and I was wondering which phone, out of the dt770, dt880, dt990, and the pro versions of all three headphones. I am looking for a headphone that I could use for portable use but also at home high quality listening. Great Vid, keep it up!

  • @jacob856921 DT880: brighter than neutral, but reasonably close

DT770: bass bump and treble bump.

DT990: like the DT770, but even more so.

DT880>990>770. The DT trio is certainly not very portable due to size. Frankly, any impedance will be fine even out of a portable, if not at their best. It'll be rather quiet though.

Pro headband is tougher and tighter on the head. Premium models are quite comfy, but it is looser.

  • OK I got a question, what headphones would you recommend me for studio use(professional)

the price up to 300£. Thanks

  • @DJHiso The Sennheiser HD 650 --- but it's a bit soft sounding so you might mix in too much highs if you're not careful. The Denon AH-D2000 --- but it's too bright, so you might mix soft. Sennheiser Amperior is pretty neutral; it might be uncomfortable for long sessions, but it's got the best isolation of all above.

  • @InnerFidelity thanks, but I was also thinking about the Beyerdynamic DT880 but Sennheiser wins for me now, again thanks and very good review of beats by dr.dre solo :-)

  • @InnerFidelity and what do you think about HD700 Sennheiser?

  • Why do I have a feeling that you don't like Beyer 'phones..

By the way, all your vids are great, very helpful.

  • @wynton5364 He hates the fatiguing treble, as far as I can tell. Beyers usually tilt towards bright ergo...

Tyll "Hawaiian Shirts" Hertsens is awesome.

  • @aeriescannonfodder I checked InnerFidelity website. I don't see him recommending really anything but Stax and orthos. Those headphones around 500 dollars don't seem to be in his realm.

  • @wynton5364 The headphones are 500 are generally well known and established. The Staxes and orthos are not (though the LCD-2 is quite popular, all things considered). It seems you only looked at the world-class cans review and stepped over his recommends in the midpriced range.

  • Thanks for the comparison. I have an Avid Mbox 3 Mini audio interface. Will it drive the 600 Ohm DT880 version?

  • Would the fiio e6/e7/e11 power these headphones and the Beyerdynamic St 770s?

  • I want to produce music on my Laptop... what Headphone Monitor would be better for this purpose ??? Thank You !!!!!

  • quick questions:

Which headphones are the best for music production in different price ranges (100€ to 500€ and 500€ to 1000€)?

Also, would different headphones be used for different music styles when in production?

Thank you, you have awesome reviews!

  • Hey just wondering which headphones would you recommend I get between the DT880, Shure SRH940, Sennheiser HD598 or HD650?

  • @FirAng3 Personal favorites are DT880 and HD650. which are IMO opposite and complementary headphones. This is assuming good amplification. The HD598 is cheaper and less demanding with power, but isn't on par with the DT880 or HD650. I don't know the SRH940 myself, but all I know that Tyll didn't take too well to them.

  • Hey,

I`m look at the DT 770 Pro headphones; for the price you do think they are worth it, or is there another set of cans I should go for?

  • @TDMusicSounds I like the Shure SRH840 quite a bit better.

  • @InnerFidelity Cool, thanks for the help!

  • @InnerFidelity Hey, Tyll, I'm considering the Shure SRH840, what are your thoughts on them? Is there something better under $150? I love your videos, BTW. Cheers.

  • @anycoloryoulike73 They're the best for the low price. They seem bass light relative to the slightly bass-tilted M50. The 840 is more well-rounded the the m50.

  • What headphones would you recommend for entertainment purposes in a $250-$320 budget?

  • @guitarjoe20 with that money get a haircut, buy some nice clothes and take a girl on a date instead of wasting it on some crappy headset..

  • @CreedNapify I'd rather have some nice cans over a vapid whore and gay hair.

  • @mamaloney1 l0l

  • @CreedNapify What's so funny.

  • @mamaloney1 Double entendre...

  • @aeriescannonfodder How is "l0l" a double entendre?

  • @mamaloney1 Whoosh... What you said, not creed.

  • Could you please elaborate on "damping factor" some more?

  • i have 2 quick question? do the sennheiser 598 need a headphone amp if i use them with an ipod? and does a headphone amp make a headphone louder and improve the clarity or does it just make them louder?

  • Wouldn't the 250 ohm be a bit high for a pmp? By that I mean wouldn't you need to increase the volume by a fair amount to be able to drive it well enough? Therefore using the battery up faster.

Nice video by the way. I had to use it to explain to someone who had impedance completely backwards, who claimed another reviewer was the one who had it backwards.

  • @t3hsniper Actually, it's the low impedance cans that draw more current and if inefficient will lower battery life. Really it's more complicated than I can post in this little box, but 250 Ohm will be fine, though it's possible it won't be loud enough for you.

  • should i get the beyerdynamic 880 or something else in the price range? main use for rap

  • Wha should i get out of DT880. DT990. HD650. HD600 or akg 701. I will be using a bottlehead crack with this

  • @Bentech1999 I'd take the 600 or 650

  • would you recommend these headphones compared to the AKG K 272HD or 702 or the Sennheiser HD600 or 598 . I would be listening to alot of rock through an ipod and computer. also i will be using it for gaming, movies, and sometimes for my guitar. Your advice will be appreciated.

  • @LED22ZEPPELIN I'd probably pick the 600.

  • @InnerFidelity alright thanks for your input

  • @InnerFidelity is the open back really that big of a deal with background noise in a dorm or going places and having people hear the noise.

  • @InnerFidelity also would not having an amp matter with the 600's

  • @LED22ZEPPELIN yes it will matter.

  • Actually, the iTouch (iPod Touch) has an output impedance of about 7 Ohms, not 32 Ohms. Still, that leaves a damping factor of less than 5 when the iTouch is used with the DT880-32 - not a very good match. The DT880-250 is a better match with the iTouch; however, the damping factor is greater than 30 which indicates that the DT880-250 might sound a bit thin and a bit weak to some people.

  • @AnalogLooney Thank you! My understanding now is that you are correct. The principle remains the same, however, as you point out.

  • i am looking for something with a nice bass signature without the brightness and recessed midrange. Are the sennheisers calling out to me?

  • @AudiophiIic Yes, you just described Sennhesier HD5x8 and HD6x0 series.

  • Are these good for monitoring? I don't want any enhancements like bass amplified, etc.

  • Hi, Can I ask whether i should get the DT 700 Pro 80ohm or the 250ohm version? I will be using the headphone mostly on my Iphone and Macbook pro and im considering a headphone amplifier in the future. Which 1 should i get ?

  • Comment removed

  • One thing that I can say about my DT880/250, is that it probably had the biggest change in sound between fresh-out-of-the-box and around 500 hours of break-in of any piece of audio gear I have ever bought. The AKG K601 that I bought at about the same time had far less change during break-in. Both these headphones have the "house sound" of their respective company, with the K601 being more midrange prominent. One or the other headphone works better on a recording...no headphone is best at all.

  • love to see some headphone amp reviews just bought senns 650 and not sure what amp to buy thinking fiio e9 or headroom micro amp just dont know alot about amps or just use a good reciever love your reviews

  • I liked your video a lot, I was looking for more opinions on the 3 DT 880 models, maybe just try to say um and ah a little less.

  • Love the videos, Tyll! They are really nice as an accompaniment to your articles.
