Actually, dude... there's a site called Pat's Guitars, and he takes apart a Ralph and Sandy Telecaster - just like yours - to see what's in it. Look it up on Google. It's absolutely terrible work.
And that Gibson mini humbucker? According to Pat, not a Gibson. Cheap copy.
I really want a Telecaster but I mainly play acoustic so don't know much about electric guitars. I am really having trouble deciding which Telecaster to get! The only way I have of choosing is colours...
Justin (not sure if you answer these) but I was wondering where you knew where to get a three-knob Tele control plate. I'm (slowly) building my dream Tele and would love a Master Volume/Master tone/Blend pot set-up and would prefer (for both practical and aesthetic reasons) to have a three-knob set-up as opposed to a push-pull pot.
It's Ralph and Sandy's Custom Shop. They have a good rating on eBay, though it doesn't sound like they were too communicative with Justin. Justin must have been too nice to leave negative feedback. The guitar sounds great now!
Do coil-splitting pickups sound as good as true single coils? I was thinking of putting one in a MIM Fender Strat, but don't want to sacrifice tone. Any opinions?
In a single coil stacked pickup, you are going to lose some output due to reduced windings being used on the single coil of the stack, but overall the sound will be very similar to a traditional single coil. On a traditional side-by-side humbucker, the output is the same, but the tonality varies. Some side-by-sides sound very strat like when split, while others sound a bit different. I hope that helps
That looks just like that telecaster that a guy names Patsguitars on ebay makes. Never heard of ralph and mandy, that sucks they hosed you, I know how much that model costs and that is not good business. I'll remember that and tell 11 people like they sad customers do when news is bad.
this sounds really basic and I should know this cos I know a fair bit about guitars but what is the difference between the sound of a neck pickup and a bridge pickup. Which one is best for lead guitar for example?
I prefer the neck area for clean sounds as well. I have a humbucker in my bridge postition. I also like to use the first two together. Pocket POD's are also great for strats and teles.
I'm not a expert "yet" lol but because that doesnt have the normal type of pick ups youd see in a tele does it not have that tele twang most teles have?
that would be sixty cycle hum. Single-coil pickups give that off because they pick up frequencies from computer monitors and lights and stuff. humbuckers have a double coil, which "bucks" or cancels, the hum.
Just to note, on most strats you can get your pickup selection switch stuck in the middle of two settings, giving you even different sound and posibilities.

Try rotating your guitar or moving into a different room. Stuff like computer monitors puts out magnetic energy that messes with your pickups.
