@NightHeronProduction - thanks for commenting mate. I think it was a combination of both the exposed mud near the hide and the guy strimming further down that encouraged the waders to be close to the hide. Wish it'd happened just after I got my new HD set-up though - the film would've been even better! Ruffs have great plumage, even in these juveniles/females. It's been many a year since I've been to Welney to see the crazy looking males though!
