- yes, it's also clear that Pres. Obama is not yet governing in a manner that Dr. King could (at this point in Pres. Obama's tenure) support or endorse. Mr. Obma needs to have a comprehensive agenda for poor Americans in generals and poor Blacks and minority specifically. He doesn't seem to think that that is a priority for him unfortunately.
In Canada, I a minority citizen, am being psycholgically, sexually, emotionally, financially, socially tortured and bullied for last 2 years, openly for the crime of using my civil right of not speaking with Toronto police. Based on their unsubstantiated self serving theories they put me under 24 hrs video surveillance, they openly go around instigating hatred, slandering my name at my employment and I am being tortured everywhere i go, including at work, openly with management involved.
I wonder how Obama feels when the song get to "black and white together someday" I mean his mother and father got together forty something years ago. LOL
it moved me to tears - i've sung and heard this song many time over the past 40+ years - i never thought there'd be a black president of the u.s. in my lifetime -it's wonderful
When I was in high School, we used to have a Martin Luther king celebration. I used to feel so dam guilty. I would cry and cry, and my african-american friends would always squeeze me tight because they knew I loved them. Now it is over!!! I dont have to feel quitly anymore. I can cry tears of joy instead of sorry. Amen!!!!
@bailout4wallst I am a white person and was made to believe that we are all equal in God's eyes. I was alive during the lives of Dr. King and so many civil rights leaders. Dr. King, along with John and Robert Kennedy are my heroes. They all, no matter what went on in their personal lives, stood for human rights. No one was beneath them or above them. We were all the same, as it should be. One of the many reasons why I voted for President Obama, still love saying that, would still today.
As a boy, I was inspired when I read about Lincoln's quest to ensure national unity in protection of the guarantees of the Bill of Rights across the United States, regardless of place. I was inspired by Martin Luther King who sought equality, regardless of race. We can still achieve our national purpose.

We would never have made it alone. Many, many whites were in the struggle, the underground railroad. Look up info on the Quaker Abolitionists.
