  • Ivey is a class act. He knows its poker and those things happen. He shrugged it off and started thunking about the next hand.

  • Phil makes it look funny, when it can actualy be a tragidy for someone else. The worce Ive seen was pocket 66 verces 88 verces 1010. Flop comes 6,8,2. All three players go all in, turn comes a 10. And river is a J. I hand 99 and got rid of them after seeing 3 all ins. I think poker sucks, unless you are a "zilioneer" and can take lots of coolers and bad beats without the risk of going "brokeback". Lots of luck chance timing and 3 burrols left, thats poker folks. Factors one cant control, poker

  • It isnt actualy a bad beat cause he has a overpair and dont need runer runner like a fish

  • It's Scotty Nguyen baby.

  • 1:10 - 1:16 take a laugh

  • Ivey started laughing, then Nguyen, then me lol

  • scotty's got greasy hair

  • take it like a boss, thats how i like it. u laugh at his luck, he laughs at ur lack of poker skill ;)

  • @weatherallc05 u saying Ivey lacks poker skills? ^^

  • @TheBosama ermmmm no . im saying that in a serious sense that ivey still has more skill than all these guys who think its right to laugh at a cooler

  • @weatherallc05 ok .. i follow u now ^^ damn confusing, but now that i know what the deal was... damn true :D

  • @weatherallc05 fuck are you talking about, retard?

  • @a3th3r what made u come in

  • 3 different laughs in a row, epic

  • was that an alien in the thumb nail?

  • @weefeatures great comment!lol, iveys and lingrens faces are priceless in that video, check out jack ury slowrool video, one of my favoirtes!

  • i think the real reason is he doesnt really give a shit about the tornament

  • I love how Scotty laugs along with Ivey.

  • @AlfonsM yeah, its a great moment, when they burst into laughter

  • This is NOT a bad beat, it's more like a cooler

  • Comment removed

  • 1:10 Epic

  • I would take it well if I was a millionaire too.

  • Thats because that tournament its shit.

I want to see ivey losing a 1M pot set vs set, well, thats a different story.

  • @pabloernesto19 well ivey lost a 1M pot with straight vs straight, and he just said "wow. nice hand." =/ still a good loser.

  • If that happened to Phil Hellmuth that table would no longer be there.

  • i wish i could take my beats like that

  • Ivey laughing out loud?! 'dderrrr f%&kkkkk??

  • This is incredibly funny. I love Iveys face and then he laughs. hahaha so good

  • Keep pressing 6 for lolz

  • I love the way he bursts out laughing, it's just absolutely fantastic. What a brilliant guy :)

  • I was in a tournament 3 days ago, and this exact thing happen with me and this lady who was a chip leader. I had pocket Kings and she had pocket Jacks and the flop had both a King and a Jack - it was the biggest pot I've ever been in.

  • cold deck

  • Tiger Woods of Poker.

  • @EthanBatongmalaque I'd hate to compare him to the current Tiger Woods.

  • What does the "Out: J" Above Ivey mean?

Never saw id, and have absolutely no idea about poker.

  • @ScheisseBernd

It means the cards Phil needs to win. In this case there is only one such card - the remaining jack.

  • @Trias88

    Ahh!

    Thanks alot!

I play online Poker sometimes, but never watched it on TV, thats why i have no idea of "live Poker".

  • Jennifer Tilly would have known Scotty had Kings and checked it down

  • @weefeatures

That's nothing. Romanello would fold that.

  • @weefeatures Perfect

  • @weefeatures lol brilliant

  • @weefeatures ha...only a true poker fan (of at least watching poker videos) gets this. nice one. lol.

  • @weefeatures great comment and i am suprised so many got the reference!

  • @weefeatures That made my day.

  • @weefeatures LoL!!!!

  • @weefeatures HAHAHA XD

  • That laugh was a from culmination of scotty running unbeilevably good... watch the full session and ull know what im talking about... I still remember watching this last yr thinkin WTF

  • siick

  • i cant stop laugh....how is Phil looking while laugh?

  • he is laughing after loosing. ivey has a money tree in backyard. now he will go get couple million from that tree and blow it in craps or baccarat

  • ivey laughs, nguyen laughs, and to rub it in even the TD laughs. classic

  • Still waiting for some dumbass to say "isn't it obvious scotty has top set? terrible play mr ivey!" lmao............

  • how does phil ivey handle playing highstakes online poker with other people's money? 150Million dollars and those piece of garbage thieves arent going to pay it back. I've lost all respect for anyone associated with full tilt poker.

  • @bacardibum Also Tom Dwan?

  • ohh...thought that only happened to me.....

  • Ivey= classy champion

  • Ivey was never ahead and Scotty didn't have much chips, If the flop came all rags the outcome would have been the same anyway.

  • @dirtylos30 And that's exactly why he's the best player in the world and you are not.. I've seen plenty of ridiculously great laydowns on flops that i could never make.. Like pro's folding top two pair and being right on a pretty dry board.

  • @hahaownedlolz What the fuck are you talking about. Your reply to me makes no sense. I wasn't saying Ivey should have layed that hand down. He flopped a set and Scotty had barely any chips left. That's an automatic call for Ivey. I was simply pointing out the fact this hand wasn't really a cooler the way the video title says since he was behind the whole time. So fuck off and jerk off to a picture of Ivey and your video games

  • @dirtylos30 With respect, you're misunderstanding the meaning of a 'cooler.' Which is where you find yourself in the position of having a very strong hand you can't get away from only to be facing an opponents hand which is even better. In the situation shown in the video Phil Ivey has the second nuts and is therefore only beaten by one hand (3 combinations). It is the very definition of cooler.

  • so funny when ivey laughed after seeing scotty's hand :) made me laugh more harder

  • could u imagine hellmuth in this situation, unlike ivey who laughed at the freak event hellmuth wood b calling him an idiot.

  • @leemassey1

The old Hellmuth would have done that. But IMO Phil has stepped up his game and isn't tilting any more lately.

  • @EpicPokerMoments he is in wsop 2011 he still is so

  • @EpicPokerMoments orly? ya seen The Big Game season 2?

  • @EpicPokerMoments j on the river would have been a bad beat

  • @EpicPokerMoments people only remember the idiot, never the gentleman, no matter how long he stays tantrum free!

  • @leemassey1 yep, you are exactly right! i personally feel that to remain humble and not blow up like a jackass(hellmuth) is KEY to coming back and winning. once u show poor sportsmanship you pretty much admit defeat and hand over the fuckin victory, ya know?

  • @themindzi Well a lot of the times Hellmuth's rants work for him against lesser known players. If someone with the bracelet collection Hellmuth has stood up and called you a dreadful player you have to admit you'd be pretty put off your game and he'd be in your head next time you came up against him. Unless he gets knocked out, then I think his rants help him for the rest of the match

  • @leemassey1 he wouldn't couse scotty didn't play this bad

  • I would turn gay for Ivey hahaha

  • @StoryWB

read somewhere its about 1 / 44000 that two players get dealt pocket pairs and both hit sets on the flop but thats in a 10 handed game.

  • Is Ivey ever patronizing, the body language... attitude towards Scotty who deserved winning this match.

  • I'd have laid the jacks down no problem. Who is that donk?

    signed,

some youtube pro who plays 0.01/0.02

  • that hand had to of been rigged. What are the chances

  • If that was phil Helmuth he would have been like "fuck man fuck they always call me with shitty hands like KK or AA fuck man"

  • I always like watching Ivey lose, but it's not like he could have helped the outcome of this hand. He played it right, he just got nailed with a bad cooler.

  • who won the match finally??

  • @kamaljeetpec1

    Nguyen won the match

  • @EpicPokerMoments Yeah nugyen won, he sucks out to though if I remember correctly.

  • @EpicPokerMoments with a bad beat :p

  • fuck scotty no class drunk bitch

  • @riverduck504 Only player in history to win WSOP main event, WSOP 50K Horse, WPT main event. You see him drunk on tv once and think you can call him a bitch? GTFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @riverduck504 Clearly you've never played with Scotty. He's all class, actually. On and off the table. Just because he's a character, doesn't make him classless.

  • My 2 favorits players

  • Ever heard of a badbeat jackpot? badbeat can be a suckout OR a cooler

  • not a bad beat. PERIOD, u dun agree means u dun noe wut does bad beat means ;*

  • The fact that poker players argue over what consitutes a bad beat seems to come down to how good of odds the worse hand has to improve and win. For example, getting QQ all in against AK preflop and then the QQ losing, isn't a 'bad beat' in my book even though they were 55% to win.

A bad beat to me is someone calling a naked flush draw for all their chips with one card to come (about 19% chance to win) and hitting.

  • @SocrTrump

My point is, whenever I have heard arguments over what a 'bad beat' is - they all have still had the necessary part where the majority of the chips go in, and then the weaker hand ends up catching up. I have never heard anyone call JJ<KK a 'bad beat' until now.

  • @SocrTrump set under set is a bad beat. its unlucky. ever heard of a badbeat jackpot?

  • @SocrTrump

"A very strong hand loses to an even stronger one."

    Wikipedia ==> bad beat

  • @EpicPokerMoments

Wrong, just because it's in wikipedia doesn't mean it's accurate. A bad beat means a hand that is ahead loses to an inferior hand. AA losing to QQ is a bad beat or the nut flush losing to someone that fills up on the river etc. What happened to Ivey is just bad luck, more like a cooler.

  • @ixmredorix

I apologize if I double-post, but I notice that "a hand that is ahead loses to an inferior hand" and ur examples only prove EPM right,,, and EPM was just responding to trump with a source, and never claimed it was infallible (and for the record, some of the articles do have a tad of a peer-review process)

  • @bloodfoxtrue 'a hand that is ahead loses to an inferior hand' doesn't prove EPM right... KK is NOT an inferior hand to JJ.

  • I apologize, I meant to cite EPM's "A very strong hand loses to an even stronger one"... certainly, JJ < KK

  • @bloodfoxtrue

How did I prove EPM right? Look at the title, he clearly states that Phil Ivey took a bad beat (which is wrong to begin with), then he follows with a false wikipedia source to prove his point... SocrTrump is obviously the only one here that understands poker lingo. lol

  • @ixmredorix

well, unless I'm mistaken, and I tend to be wrong, but you mentioned QQ and nut flush.. arent these strong hands to hold? I admit I wasn't too familiar with the term cooler, and it seems to be more accurate, but are you sure that EPM is 100% wrong, or if the average or skilled player can know the nuance between the two? just my two cents ^^

  • @ixmredorix

    @ixmredorix

See the reponse I made on SocrTrump's response.

I agree that a cooler would be a better choice of words. But some people (including me) would say that a bad beat also includes losing a strong hand against a even stronger hand.

    Greetz, EPM.

  • @ixmredorix There's a lot of players who wouldn't refer to getting their Aces cracked by Kings as a bad beat, because that happens all the time. When is it a bad beat? If it's 60/40 preflop, like KQ winning against AJ, or does it start at 80/20, like KK vs QQ?

In my opinion a bad beat is when someone makes a bad play with a bad hand which magically ends up overtaking your strong hand by the river.

  • @EpicPokerMoments That's called a cooler. A bad beat is when a hand that is way ahead gets a worse hand to call and then they suck out. Not that you should get all your information from wikipedia, but even wikipedia agrees with me. Maybe don't quote and cite them without checking first? Or maybe learn very basic poker lingo before calling yourself 'epicpokermoments' and posting poker videos?

  • @SocrTrump

maybe EPM was wrong in this case, but I think he was trying to answer in good faith... if anything, if you ask the average player the difference between cooler and bad beat, I would be impressed if they can distinguish them apart (and if anything, imho, many would argue what exactly a bad beat is)

  • @SocrTrump

I have checked Wikipedia first (How could I have cited them otherwise ?). Did you ? Because Wikipedia agrees with your AND mine definition of a bad beat. The second type of a bad beat Wikipedia mentions (and which I already cited): "A very strong hand loses to an even stronger one". I would say that a set of jacks would be a very strong hand on that flop. The only hand that had him beat was a set of K. Doesn't that qualify as "a very strong hand loses to a even stronger one" ?

  • @EpicPokerMoments

From my years of experience playing poker online and live, majority of the people would consider this situation a really unlucky way to lose or a "cooler." If Ivey catches a one outer on the river and hit quad jacks, then Scotty Nguyen getting a bad beat would be justified. Doesn't matter though, it's all irrelevant. I apologize for criticizing your page. I wish everybody luck playing poker.

  • @SocrTrump

But I admit, a cooler would indeed be a better choice of words. Because not everyone agrees on what a bad beat is actually. This is also mentioned in the third sentence in the Wikipedia article: "There is no consensus among poker players as to what exactly constitutes a bad beat and often players will disagree about whether a particular hand was a bad beat "

  • @EpicPokerMoments Wikipedia is wrong. This is called a 'cooler'. A bad beat would be if player A has pocket kings and player B has pocket 7's and the board ran out 24k77. With player B rivering quads. In no shape or form is this a bad beat. End of.

  • Its calls a "cooler" u idiot

  • @godiplaygood

Thank you for your response. Unlike others, your reply is well argued....

It changed my point of view. So especially for you, I altered the title.

    /sarcasm mode off

  • @godiplaygood yea they changed the title of the video.

  • phil has seen it all. this is nothing so why not laugh? good players.
