@mj1234321 only on small carriers like the midway to the uss forrestall, anything bigger like the Uss kittyhawk or the Uss enterprise, were used by f18s f14s ect newer aircraft. Phantoms flew untill 1988.
I remember an F-4 emergency landing on Midway in 1982 or 83. It was the Marine squadron and the pilot landed without any nose gear. it was such a good landing that the only damage was a cracked nose cone.
The US Navy still flew Phantoms in '84?

Doesn't look like an emergency to me. At the end of the video, you can see the wings fold and the plane starts to taxi out of the landing area.

Those Phantoms just come in sooo hot on a carrier deck. Always a show and exciting display of Naval Airmanship. Not a job for chumps
