I love the styling of Mac's but the OS just isn't for me. I don't hate people who use Mac, nor do I hate the OS. As for people saying that they should have gotten a Mac because they wanted to work with pictures is asinine, It's called Photoshop. Which is what professionals use. It's like saying only windows can game even though steam is out on Mac. Same with HD video creation, It's called Sony Vegas. Once again I DO NOT HATE MAC. Me personally, I never buy OEM I always build my own.

You can get a Mac for much cheaper than $1500. And BTW, the hardware specs only account for about half of how well a computer runs. Macs get far more out of the hardware than a Windows PC. They require less RAM and CPU speed to run better. They crash less. No viruses. Better customer service, much higher resale value.. lots more. That makes them worth much more, so yes, they sale for more. Imagine that.

Who said anything about a MacBook for $100 to 700? PC's get viruses.. lots of them. And i guarantee you have some type of Malware or Adware on your PC.. GUARANTEED! Most PC's get BSOD, just because you might not have doesn't mean most don't because they do. Macs CAN crash, but do it FAR LESS than a PC. You pay for a lot of things when you get a Mac.. customer service is a big one. Design, build quality, resale value, etc..
umm...did you listen to your own video? 1:30 "all the MacBooks have dropped between $100 and $700." and have you ever seen that Macs have a common problem where they just stop turning on. sure PC's get viruses, but only complete MORONs can get them. not one has gotten on my HP. and ive downloaded a ton of things. we have 4 PC's, not one BSoD error. none of our PCs have crashed. two of the iMacs i have borrowed CRASHED within 5 minutes of web browsing

the iMacs have not been trashed because i know the person that let me borrow it. he was my friends dad. and the iMacs barely got little to no use. i even reinstalled the OS and continued to CRASH. he had a couple iMacs that he didnt even use. he preferred to use his Toshiba Laptop because it worked better. i DONT have viruses. if i had a virus, my computer would not behaving normally. i was wrong to try to switch to Mac. what i like about using a PC is i can use ubuntu

The HP has the same processor as the standard Macbook, 4 GB not 2 GB of Ram. Double the harddrive space 500 GB not 250 GB. Blu-Ray, a 17-in screen versus your Mac's 13-in. A 9400M graphics card versus a 9600M GT. The hardware is all the same or better than a $300 more computer. Good thinking.

Especially when the shitty operating system REQUIRES better hardware to even run remotely close to as smoothly as the good OS with with lesser hardware. Besides, Apple hardware runs Winblows better than a HP, Dell, etc with similar hardware. Need proof? Look up the test of 30 PC's with Winblows against the 1 Mac running Winblows. Macs have better quality hardware and better build quality. The OS's aren't even comparable. OS X wins by a lot.

Ive used new Macs and old. New Macs are junk when you compare them to the quality of their older products. Any application you have, is available on a PC in some form then fold. Photo, video editing, basic productivity, music recording you name it. There is more and better hardware available on a PC. Macs are great for their simplicity and ease of use but they have nothing on a purpose built PC. What chipset is your Mac running now anyways? Intel. Huh funny. Same as a PC.

Vista has a sweet tool call Reliability and Performance. You should check it out. It tells you when you have issues and what what wrong. My Reliability index 10/10 [includes program crashes]. My computer is self built and they are notorious for having more errors and faults then a computer from retail. You Mac punks are really stretching out the virus and reliability bit too far. Its getting old. I'm not saying apple makes bad products. But other company's make good products not just your apple.
OS X has this sweet tool called.. it does the maintenance itself so i don't have to waste my time doing stuff that a computer should do itself. You should check it out. I don't think the computer they got has the specs you showed, its actually worse. The most recent dv7 HP has is $800 an comes with a 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, and No Bluray. If you upgrade it to what a 15" MacBook Pro's specs are it's about $1,350.

Umm, no actually it wasn't delayed. The problem with that "memory leak" in chkdsk was a chipset driver problem, not a problem with Windows 7. So, whatever. I'm already using the RC anyway, along with OpenSolaris.

well macs are good. we use them here at TSTC. (Texas State Technical College) in our game and graphic design class. but we recently decided to rip apart a Mac book pro the new ones and priced the guts. it was amazing to find that its cheap to make it but i dont know why the high price? i guess the time and assembly might be a key factor here. well got to go make a promotional video on a mac. but i might use my laptop at home. adobe after effects is a good program for this.
Let me fix that for you.. for the price of a Mac you can get a PC with twice the hardware specs, maybe.. certainly not three times, and NOT at all faster. Higher specs don't automatically mean faster. Use Winblows on your PC, then switch to Linux. Tell me that the OS doesn't matter more than the hardware specs then. OS > Specs. And guess what: OS X > Winblows x100.

Yeah you might save a few bucks to begin with on a pc but in the long run macs are a much better deal. I would expect that hp to last about 3-4 years but the power mac g4 I am typing this on now is over 10 years old and I have never had one problem with it!!! I don't even plan to upgrade until next year. So by the time you paid for several Hp's since all of your old ones broke the mac was cheaper and you got a ton of software and a bug free OS that you can actually use
I do agree, Macs are better. If the PC costed as much as the macs it would be pretty good too though. If you really want a computer, but you literally don't have enough money to get a mac, then it's fine to get a PC. This is inciteful...but not entirely true. PC's are reliable in the hands of experienced users. Mac's biggest selling feature for me is the included software. I love iLife, OS X, and its developer tools. However, an experienced user can turn a $700 PC into one badass multimedia comp for the extra $2K you save off the 17" MBP.
Remember, the only reason Mac's don't have higher crash statistics is because they are locked. Jobs has, himself, said that Mac's are more reliable because of this.
Regardless of how experienced you are.. Windows can and never will be close to as good as OS X. And to get software remotely close to iLife on a Windows computer, you're going to spend enough that you're basically buying a Mac anyway.. so why not buy quality 100% from the beginning and get Mac?

This statement shows a real lack of understanding how computers work. Any user in a windows environment can open file manager and delete sensitive system files. In a Unix environment that is not possible. Only an administrator can. The same rule applies for malicious code such as a virus.

As far as Blue-Ray is concerned, if Apple had it in their Macs, Jeremy, you'd probably be saying it's great... Yes Blue-Ray isn't totally taking off and it will once the price of the media and player goes down, which will eventually happen. It happened the same way with DVD players. People held onto VHS for years and finally as more DVD media and players were released it became popular.

Blu-ray was dead before it started. Look up the stats on it. No one is really using or buying blu-ray. No one ever really will. Digital copies via download ARE going to win out. And you can thank Apple for that when it happens. I've said it a million times.. you NEED the extra specs to make Vista remotely close to running as smoothly as OS X. Hard drive space, yes, i wish Apple gave more standard.. but oh well. I can buy an external or flash drive if needed.

I agree to a point about physical discs.. but everything is switching over to digital. It's just a matter of time. Apple just had more motivation to switch NOW: iTunes.
Vista requires 20GB of space. It's coding bogs down the system, eats cpu resources, ram resources and is overall a slow, shitty OS. If you buy computers to brag about specs, that's fine. But i buy computers for speed, security and reliability. Regardless of specs, Macs run faster on lower specs and are far more stable and secure

You are correct, i'm just pointing out that both OS are vulnerable, and just because PCs have the higher rate right now, apples shares of viruses are also going up due to the increase in market for their laptops and desktops, or all in ones if you prefer. so pretty soon, you won't be able to say that your mac is resistant to viruses and malware. You might already be a victim of the famed 1 0f 2 known Botnets of 2009 and might not even know. you just might want to get yourself virus protection
Market share has nothing to do with lack of viruses on OS X. It's about Unix. It's about how hard it is to write viruses for OS X. OS X has far more users than OS 9 ever had, yet way less viruses. It's just a very complete, secure OS.

A computer that maybe 5% of people with computers use, or one that 95% of people use? I hate that mac uses that to their advantage. If it was more popular people would write more malicious code for it. Doesn't make them more "secure". My bank down the block got robbed 4 times in the last year. My house? Zero. I love the styling of Mac's but the OS just isn't for me. I don't hate people who use Mac, nor do I hate the OS. As for people saying that they should have gotten a Mac because they wanted to work with pictures is asinine, It's called Photoshop. Which is what professionals use. You can get a Mac for much cheaper than $1500. And BTW, the hardware specs only account for about half of how well a computer runs. Macs get far more out of the hardware than a Windows PC. They require less RAM and CPU speed to run better. They crash less. No viruses. Better customer service, much higher resale value.. lots more. That makes them worth much more, so yes, they sale for more. Imagine that.

the iMacs have not been trashed because i know the person that let me borrow it. he was my friends dad. and the iMacs barely got little to no use. i even reinstalled the OS and continued to CRASH. he had a couple iMacs that he didnt even use. he preferred to use his Toshiba Laptop because it worked better. i DONT have viruses. if i had a virus, my computer would not behaving normally. i was wrong to try to switch to Mac. what i like about using a PC is i can use ubuntu

Macs have less battery-sizes, but snow leopard is like a plant in a desert. It doesn't need anything.

The specs in your video clearly say 4GB ram, But you still only say it has 2GB. You put in huge letters about how its only DDR2, well DDR3 is only like 2% faster anyway. Ive used new Macs and old. New Macs are junk when you compare them to the quality of their older products. Any application you have, is available on a PC in some form then fold. Photo, video editing, basic productivity, music recording you name it. There is more and better hardware available on a PC. Macs are great for their simplicity and ease of use but they have nothing on a purpose built PC. What chipset is your Mac running now anyways? Intel. Huh funny. Same as a PC.

Vista has a sweet tool call Reliability and Performance. You should check it out. It tells you when you have issues and what what wrong. My Reliability index 10/10 [includes program crashes]. My computer is self built and they are notorious for having more errors and faults then a computer from retail. You Mac punks are really stretching out the virus and reliability bit too far. Its getting old. I'm not saying apple makes bad products. But other company's make good products not just your apple.

I don't think the computer they got has the specs you showed, its actually worse. The most recent dv7 HP has is $800 an comes with a 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, and No Bluray. If you upgrade it to what a 15" MacBook Pro's specs are it's about $1,350.

Higher specs don't automatically mean faster. Use Winblows on your PC, then switch to Linux. Tell me that the OS doesn't matter more than the hardware specs then. OS > Specs. And guess what: OS X > Winblows x100.

Yeah you might save a few bucks to begin with on a pc but in the long run macs are a much better deal. I would expect that hp to last about 3-4 years but the power mac g4 I am typing this on now is over 10 years old and I have never had one problem with it!!! I don't even plan to upgrade until next year. So by the time you paid for several Hp's since all of your old ones broke the mac was cheaper and you got a ton of software and a bug free OS that you can actually use

This is inciteful...but not entirely true. PC's are reliable in the hands of experienced users. Mac's biggest selling feature for me is the included software. I love iLife, OS X, and its developer tools. However, an experienced user can turn a $700 PC into one badass multimedia comp for the extra $2K you save off the 17" MBP.
Remember, the only reason Mac's don't have higher crash statistics is because they are locked. Jobs has, himself, said that Mac's are more reliable because of this.

You're talking about PC's in general, I'm talking Macs and Winblows computers. I didn't say Macs CAN'T get viruses.. they just don't. People make anti-virus for Macs because there is money in it. No one makes it, because no one needs it.. so a few companies decide to make some to cash in on the lack of anti-virus. Ask Mac users you know.. see how many use anti-virus. I'd guess less than 10%. This statement shows a real lack of understanding how computers work. Any user in a windows environment can open file manager and delete sensitive system files. In a Unix environment that is not possible. Only an administrator can. The same rule applies for malicious code such as a virus.

As far as Blue-Ray is concerned, if Apple had it in their Macs, Jeremy, you'd probably be saying it's great... Yes Blue-Ray isn't totally taking off and it will once the price of the media and player goes down, which will eventually happen. It happened the same way with DVD players. People held onto VHS for years and finally as more DVD media and players were released it became popular.

The fact is that the computer you show in this video that costs $700 is better in every single way compared to a $1200 mac book pro, spec wise.
It has a faster CPU, more RAM, larger hard drive, better GPU, and a blu-ray player, and a way larger screen.
You also mention 15" monitor, macbooks cost $1700+ for 15"

Blu-ray was dead before it started. Look up the stats on it. No one is really using or buying blu-ray. No one ever really will. Digital copies via download ARE going to win out. And you can thank Apple for that when it happens. I've said it a million times.. you NEED the extra specs to make Vista remotely close to running as smoothly as OS X. Hard drive space, yes, i wish Apple gave more standard.. but oh well. I can buy an external or flash drive if needed.

don't underestimate the desire for people to own something physical. I am all for digital distribution, but discs are still extremely relevant.
As far as NEEDING the extra specs to run Vista, that is irrelevant. Apple just isn't giving the same hardware at the same price. When I buy a computer, I pay for hardware, not an OS. I can easily install XP on a laptop or even better, Win7.
If Apple really wanted market share they would make OS X able to install on any hardware, just like Windows.

I agree to a point about physical discs.. but everything is switching over to digital. It's just a matter of time. Apple just had more motivation to switch NOW: iTunes.
Vista requires 20GB of space. It's coding bogs down the system, eats cpu resources, ram resources and is overall a slow, shitty OS. If you buy computers to brag about specs, that's fine. But i buy computers for speed, security and reliability. Regardless of specs, Macs run faster on lower specs and are far more stable and secure

You are correct, i'm just pointing out that both OS are vulnerable, and just because PCs have the higher rate right now, apples shares of viruses are also going up due to the increase in market for their laptops and desktops, or all in ones if you prefer. so pretty soon, you won't be able to say that your mac is resistant to viruses and malware. You might already be a victim of the famed 1 0f 2 known Botnets of 2009 and might not even know. you just might want to get yourself virus protection

Yes I know Jeremy there is a difference in the amount of Virus's and Malware/Virus are between each OS. However such problems as Malware for OSX are starting to be a problem and will increase to be a problem as Mac's gain more market share. A real virus on Windows is less of a problem, however Malware is a greater problem. Security software is getting better except for the likes of Norton on detecting these virus's and stopping them from even being installed.
