@MySwagerboy so what makes it better the DV6 normally has a smaller 15.6 in monitor, and a slower i3 or i5 processsor. So what part of you computer makes it better. Is it a better graphics card more ram faster processor. If it is better than what is it just list the specs .

I hate they don't have the designs like they have on your laptop. I have the Spring 2011 DV7 and it's an all plain metallic dark brown/black color, but I guess it's okay. lol. The DV7 is a really good computer, I think I've heard of more issues on the dv6 than the dv7's so that's good for us, lol.

I constantly receive this popup when I open my webcam it says: Warning no device detected. Please plug a video device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure that it is turned on. I have the same labtop as you w/integrated webcam. For weeks I've been trying to locate an "on switch" for the webcam. I tried hp support online,reinstall many times, no help there. Also sometimes the name "imaging devices" is visible then its gone. Can you please help me? ThankYou!!

@yuraike yes hp does make a docking station for there laptops not sure where you would buy one though. There is also a pripriority port on the side of the unit.

Great review! I have a similar model, a dv7 3180 and notice how hot it can get. Mine runs between 65 - 75C, (but I am in a 30C weather) how hot does this one gets? Plus, which fan cooler would you recommend?

Still it is a nice machine with the Core i7, I hope it lasts.

Ways to avoid overheating:

-Undervolt it using amd overdrive (if u have amd) or use k10stat (just google)

-Get a cooling pad

-Make sure its on a flat surface and its better if theres more space at the bottom for good ventilation...

-If your just browing the internet and using it for simple use, you should switch to power saver ....

I have had this laptop for about a year and a half now. Its run pretty good i just had to send it back once because of a faulty hard drive..lost all my stuff but hey its fixed.

Anywayz my real question is have u gotten any problems with your media remote. Since i have gotten back my laptop from the hard drive repair it has been really buggy. so tell me if u have any problems and where can i get a new remote for it ?

Yep call of duty 1 and 2 works fine. I would recoment getting a large laptop cooler, the machine gets quite hot playing some games with out one.@nlombd

Did HP send you update some time in September for Intel Turbo Boost? Did it install okay for you? They did for me but it doesn't work. I get a Code 10 in the Device manager for it. HP says it's not for my system. If this is true, why did they send me an update for it?

is it just me, or does the hp touchpad seem sticky to you, like your finger doesn't glide on it, it drags on it. i hate that about my moms one. i prefer my macbook pro's trackpad, it's glossy and creates a smooth motion that i don't feel on the hp, i fee like i'm dragging my finger and it's catching and getting stuck. maybe i'll make a video about it.
