What a powerful ending. I'm blessed to work at the Veteran's hospital as a nurse, serving the one's that serve us. I work with mostly Vietnam vets, and many of them have PTSD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and other psychiatric issues in addition to their medical problems. I know their war experience wasn't like a Rambo movie, rampaging through a small town, but many of them had real war experiences and did have their best friend's guts all over them or beside them...they're braver than me.
in German it's nearly better: "Im Krieg hatte ich Verantwortung für 1 Million Dollar Ausrüstung und hier krieg' ich nicht mal 'nen Job als PARKWÄCHTER!"
Stallones acting is underated, his voice is unique and can get away with roles like this, watching this bit you can't see anyother action actor at the time doing this, imagine Arnold in his place.
Sylvester Stallone deserves an Oscar for his truly, visceral performance in "Rambo - First Blood" (1982). That was his BEST acting. Better than Rocky. Even better than "Cop Land" or "Escape to Victory" when he was directed by John Huston. In the 70's and early 80's the man was in his best moment. Until then, Sly could be seen like a Al Pacino with muscles. An actor with charisma and REAL talent. That was his LAST Great Performance as an DRAMATIC Actor. Aplauses.
What makes Stallone a genius with this character is his consistency. His second and third movies in the series got panned because of the political aspects of those movies, but throughout Stallone ignored the controversy. Instead he remained true to his character - a man whose growth to adulthood was arrested by participation in a war, but who also happened to be very good at combat.
In Rambo 4, his character finally comes to grips with himself. That's what makes the last movie so great.
I had a relative FIGHT in the Vietnam war. This scene shows a little of what it must be like for them. In effect it also makes this scene that much sadder.
Especially if you have a relative who FOUGHT in the Vietnam war. (As Rambo did in the movie) Because then you compare that to what your family member must've gone through, which really makes you feel for them...
I know its a truth of war about kids being used as decoys and bombs and shouldn't be laughed at, but I find that bit hysterical "I can't find your ******* legs!",
i like stallone gibberish

if the alternate ending was used in the original cut, Stallone probibly would have won another Oscar :|

most people never really understood the underlying dialogue. It was not about the action and explosions. The vets and their families understood.

Not to contradict you , but if he didnt play in rocky 1 (because he wrote it) he've never started his acting career..
P.S.: He doesnt know how to talk :P

Considering the left side of his mouth is paralysed i'd say he can talk pretty well.
