  • Um... not to be annoying bbut are you a guy or girl I can't really tell

  • @EasyDIYcrafts I'm a 24 year old woman.

  • @beyondbracelets this idea is great i will eventually make the video but great job! i will try this out too

  • from zip...

  • love your pures!!! cool

  • @beyondbracelts this is soooooo cool!!!! You are very good at explaining your tutorials

  • I can't wait to try this out thank you!

  • I am sorry I can't see the description on my iPad, can you use anything besides liquid starch?

  • @Pupsqueak3 Some people use glue but I've personally never tried it.

  • @BeyondBracelets Thank you! As soon as I posted it I saw that tons of people all ready asked the same question. I know how that gets annoying

  • @Pupsqueak3 It's fine, I've been getting used to the repetitive questions by now... lol.

  • Can we use thread?

  • @NinikoGoh Sewing thread might be too thin.

  • can you use glue instead?

  • @iheartpurplemonkey Description.

  • hen it dries do e pop the b

    allon

  • @EpicPokerx3 Yeah, just make sure it's fully dry and then pop it.

  • @BeyondBracelets yes true put i can try to post a video on mine

  • @honeysarah100 If you'd like to video response you can. I've seen the twig balls but I always thought they used saplings and then let them dry.

  • BUT WILL IT BLEND.

  • @cookiedough134 I don't know, actually. I'd think it may wrap around the blender and KO it. If I had a spare blender I'd try it.

  • Coolllllllllll:)

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhh

  • 11:34 sounds so weird XD

  • @Freshgrilledfizh Haha, yeah it pulls away from the strings since the starch is a little sticky. =x

  • can u use glue for this???

  • @boggle12345677 I covered that in the description below the video.

(Some people use glue in place of liquid laundry starch. I have never tried it so I have no opinion on how it will come out. You are welcome to try it and report back with the results.)

  • @BeyondBracelets i tryed it with glue and it sucks.somehow the balloon deflated and i blew it up tht same day.where can i get tht starch stuff?

  • @boggle12345677 I found mine at walmart.

  • @BeyondBracelets o ok this is random but if u want check out my channel i hav a friendship bracelet tutorial tht i would like for u to like give me tips on how to film it cuz i dont even hav a tripod ( :( ) and i gave credit to u!so yep plz check it out

  • U can also used harden twigs (easier)

  • @honeysarah100 I'm pretty sure you would need to use young sapling branches that are still pliable and then let them dry out in the shape. If you used branches that were already hardened it would be really hard to bend them without cracking them, I think.

  • can you play catch with them?=0

  • @cc1234567890able Maybe... but you may crush them. I guess it would be a test to be very gentle.

  • haha u sounded nervous o.o

  • @stereosrocks Maybe a bit. I still was getting the hang of tutorials.

  • Great Job!(:

  • they would look cute sitting in a bowl as decoration c:

  • you can use corn starch

  • Cool.. Thanks a million for the tip!!!

  • I love your simple and easy to understand

Video tutorial. Thanks for sharing a cute project!

  • I attempt this last year 2011 on christmas day, and I FAIL!

    i used iron starch... LMAO

  • Cool

  • AMAZING !!

  • Soo can we use PVA glue?

  • @joyho345 I don't know really. I've never used glue and when people do they use white glue. (Elmer's usually.)

  • @BeyondBracelets oh ok :)

  • Comment removed

  • Could you mix water and glue rather than finding starch?

  • @TheTreeTurtle I've heard of people using it but haven't used it personally.

  • So can i use a fabric stiffener to make some earrings. Great idea.

  • @Deb33mitchell I'd say yes. It could get smashed if you aren't careful, though.

  • You sound like the girl from juno! I actually like the voice :) and adore the craft

  • Very cute idea! Thanks for sharing!

  • I like this idea for tree ornaments.

  • @bluehoneycomb Yeah, they make very light airy ornaments that are pet/kid safe for the most part. Plus it is really light weight so it doesn't pull branches very far. =3

  • I make these with elmers glue. Blow up a balloon to ur desired size. Put yarn/thread in glue & wrap around the balloon :D

  • Do you have to use starch?

  • u could out a jingle bell in there and it could be a cat toy! LOL

  • @AutieCrafter123 I'm pretty sure a cat would destroy it pretty quickly. It's not that strong... or at least not strong enough to be pounced on.

  • Looks pretty cool for a christmas idea

  • could be cute x-mas tree decorations :)

  • @3eternity3 Definitely.

  • @3eternity3 I was trying to find something recyclable (mind my spelling) to decorate our class for christmas! Thx and Great Idea!

  • @SilvermistSparkle You're welcome. Have fun!

  • Just a tip... whe making a video, onlyu show important parts, because it's just going to make us jump the whole thing!

  • @CarolLoveSong I was pretty certain I only showed the important parts except for showing off my bag I love. This is how I make videos, can't help that.

  • another idea is to put the christmas lights inside them! it would look cute

  • @beyondbracelets ok thanks ill try it

  • @beyondbracelets so if i pour emers glue into a bowl and do the process i lt will work the same as starch?

  • @90210Bracelets Some water might help.... people say it works I've never used glue. Just never use bleach. Ever. It's dangerous stuff.

  • will bleach work? my mom wont let me get starch or anything

  • @90210Bracelets Bleach is nothing like starch. Do not use bleach. You need starch or some people use elmers glue.

  • It's so cute!!! How did u come up w/ this idea??

  • @Jassy101Ms A long time ago in 2nd grade or so we did this... it was much larger scale though since we used much thicker strings. I just figured it would work with tiny strings as well... so I tried it and it seemed to work out fine.

  • que material es?

  • @estivengiraldo Embroidery Floss

  • I think I will put my grandson to work with me making these for the Christmas tree. Thanks for sharing this tutorial !

  • @yecats You're quite welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed. Have fun with your grandson!

  • left over yarn works well. make bigger ones on larger balloons or different shaped balloons..hearts etc! just play with the technique, and have fun!

  • These are sooo cute :D Thanks!

  • i loooovvvveeee this vid so cool! im gonna try it right now!!!! awesome!!!

  • nice video....im gonna try it :)

  • O that makes sense! Thanks!

  • So if you wanted a big one you could do this with a normal balloon too?

  • @allthingsgirly123 Yeah. I don't know if I'd use embroidery floss for a huge ball though. I'd think it would be weak (since floss is so thin) so you might want to try something else... or just braid some long strands of floss to make them a bit more hefty.

  • hey guys, if you don't have starch use a mixture of glue , water, and flower. 1part water, 1/2 part flour, an 1 1/2 part glue. adjust as necessary until it is (i know this is gross) a mucusy texture 8I It works great!

  • oh ok thanks

  • does it have to be liquid starch

  • @Luxygirl101 Some people use glue. I've never tried it and have always used starch.

  • sooo cool

  • I've used this method for years starting in 1970!! I made a hanging lamp shade using package twine, the brown hairy jute type, and Elmers glue that I added an equal part of water to. I used a kids punch ball instead of a balloon as it's sturdier. Recently I made Christmas ornaments using small balloons and 1/8 inch ribbon. They were really pretty!

Stuffing the floss scraps into a clear glass ornament is pretty too. I love your videos!!!

  • @jcrefasi1 Finally, someone who used glue! Haha, so it does indeed work. Awesome.

The ornament ideas sound really cute- and kudos on getting a jump on Christmas. I procrastinate so chances are I'll be working like an elf on the 24th!

  • were can u get the liquid starch?

  • @luvpeacesmiles223 I found mine at walmart. You can also search grocery stores, target, etc. Just look online at your local stores websites and type in liquid starch.

  • Can I do this with elmers glue insted?

  • @Chica7111 Some people use glue in place of liquid laundry starch. I have never tried it so I have no opinion on how it will come out. You are welcome to try it and report back with the results.

  • If you don't have balloons wat else can u use??

  • @19LOLgirl1 I'm not really sure. You need to pop the balloon afterwards, using something solid would mean you'd have to keep it in the center. If you want you can use craft wire in different colors instead of floss I guess but you really need something you can use as a center and then pop... so I'm pretty sure balloons are the only thing that would work.

That said, I've seen those waterbomb balloons at my dollar stores- maybe check some around you if possible?

  • I can use apart from that liquid?

  • Can u use glue instead?

  • @rexlacetutorialshpf I've heard of people using glue but I've never tried it. You can try if you'd like to experiment but I can't tell you how it would come out.

  • no matter how many times I try to do this it never comes out right!the balloon always deflates and the string just goes down! What do I do to try to avoid this happening?

  • @5281domo Are you tying the balloon twice like I said to in the video?

  • @BeyondBracelets

Yeah I did two knots but I don't know why it deflates

  • @5281domo That is very strange... Maybe try tying it around a toothpick stem or something for extra support.

If you're tightening the knots I couldn't imagine why they would deflate with two knots... unless maybe the balloons were really old or really bad quality... but I doubt that. You could try also to tie a piece of floss around the stem below the knots after you knot, maybe that would also help keep it inflated long enough to dry.

    Sorry you've been having trouble.

  • @BeyondBracelets

Okay I'll try that. I've tried 5 times already and I always get bad results!

  • @5281domo Well, if it doesn't work with a stem in the knot or tying a string below the knot then I couldn't tell you what is going wrong. I guess it is also possible that you are over tightening the knots and the balloons are getting holes... if that could be an issue maybe test the balloon in a bowl of water to see if there is any air bubbles/leaks visible before bothering to wrap it with strings.

  • I should make my friend one of these for her birthday! Would it be nonsense, when your done to spray it with perfume to get a good smell?

  • @brace1ets Spray perfume wears off... body oil or something might be the better bet. I don't know how it would affect the starch, though. It might weaken it.

  • @LittleMissSunny203 Yeah, I flipped mine over after a half hour and sat it in a cup so it could drip.

  • @BeyondBracelets dose iy HAVE to liquied starch

  • @randomdude175 Heard of people using glue with success. I just know the starch works for me.

  • @BeyondBracelets yea i tried it i dont like it but prine works itz awsome thanks for the toutorial kan u sub to my channel plz plz

  • @BeyondBracelets yea i bout some but some of them got off but itz okaii cuz u made vid on how to make it lol

  • @LittleMissSunny203 Good luck.

  • @LittleMissSunny203 I've heard of people using it and it working but I've never personally tried it.

  • thanks for awesome tutorial!!!:)I'll definitely try it...i want to ask you the balloon is dry without for example smear it with vaseline before apply the string with liquid starch???there is case to stick the strings on balloon in the end of process??

  • @zangetsu230 I didn't smear it with anything- my balloon was dry. Some people say they are sticking but if the starch was strong enough and it is 100% dry (wait 24 hours for it to completely dry) then it should be fine. You probably could put something on it as a lubricant if you wanted but I didn't use any for my project. You could also try to poke at the balloon and try to loosen it before popping it if you're concerned it will stick.

  • @BeyondBracelets thanks so much for the tips!!!:)I'try the way you told me!!!!

  • the store brand of liquid starch has formaylahyde in them...so i use homemade method...1/2 cup corn starch to 1/2 cup cold water..mix well well well. then you can add from 1/2 cup to 2-1/2 cups boiling water. if you mix entire 2-1/2 cups you end up with type of liquid starch for ironing etc. and i use 1/2 c. to get the consistancy i want......cheaper, organic and just groovy!!!!

  • @shawneetheindian Awesome. Thanks for the recipe!

  • how long r u supposed to let it dry for?

  • @TheDEM75 Like I said in the video description:

IMPORTANT!!!! Make sure that the strings are 100% dry before you pop the balloon!

After waiting the long 24 hours for the strings to dry out and set up with starch

you will finally get to pop the balloon and get to enjoy your new decoration!

  • i used the starch that you were using in the video

  • when i finished covering the ballon and it dried .the string stuck to the ballon and when i treid to pop it the string crumblde up with the ballon . do you know what happend whit it?

  • @TheDEM75 What starch did you use? It sounds like whatever it was wasn't strong enough to hold up. Like I said to someone below... maybe try a dab of oil on the balloon to make it not stick.

  • i did wat u say but my ball capsizes wen i perce my baloon altho my starch dries but threds keep stikig to baloon and so my treads capsize from one side.some way i can stop this stiking i m drying in sun

  • @4314303 You shouldn't be drying it in the sun. The heat is probably making the balloon stick much more than it would if you air dried it.

  • pllz help me, my baloon is sticking with Embroidery Thread after dry ,and im using home made starch with corn starch

  • @4314303 I don't know, grease the balloon with some oil maybe.

  • Can you use Corn Starch?

  • @TheDEM75 I've heard you can but I haven't tried it. I didn't really want to experiment with it since I had access to the actual liquid starch which I've had success with before. Try it out and see.

Some people also just use Elmer's glue.. I've never tried that either but I've heard people say it works.

  • Nevermind I read the comment and found the answer

  • Can u replace the starch with craft gel

  • @PokemonNoodles I'm not sure what craft gel is but you can try. Some people use glue with success so I'd imagine it would work if craft gel is sort of like glue.

  • is there any more ideas for left overs strings :P

  • @cherrybloom22 Not yet but I suppose I could think it through and figure out some other stuff.

  • @BeyondBracelets oh ok :)

    thanks for helping though :P

and also helping me with others stuff :)

  • @cherrybloom22 Well, last night I found an alternate use for short/leftover strands but I think I'll save it for when I get the new camcorder next month. =D

  • @BeyondBracelets wow! :D OK then i'll wait until next month :D

i'll be looking forward to it :D

  • I'm definitely gunna try this! : ]

    You're so creative : D!

  • I think these would make really really cool earrings. But obviously, it'd be near impossible to get balloons small enough to do that.

I wonder if there is something else small enough that could be used. Can't think of anything off the top of my head. :/

  • @lovelylizzie333 You could try using a very thin wire base and then just leave it in there to work around... It might not be a perfect circle but it would certainly look very "light" and have a hollow look. You could also wrap the string around the wire prior to bending it so you wouldn't see the metal... that or paint it black or a color similar.

  • @BeyondBracelets That's an excellent idea. Thank you very much. :)

  • @lovelylizzie333 You're quite welcome. I'd love to see your project if you try it out!

  • @BeyondBracelets I'll be buying the materials on weds, so I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again!

  • my balloon shrinked

  • @awesomesauce639 Did you double knot the balloon?

  • @BeyondBracelets oh i forgot i only knoted once .thx!!!

  • Thanks, for the fast answer,!!! I lil try... With the both glue and that thing.... I don't remember the name... I will see the instructions again....;P See you...

  • Thanks, but i have a question, is if i can use liquid glue, you know the white glue for crafts. Tankyou very much for the tip now i have something To do with te extra pieces of floss !!! Ilil wait the answer thanks ^_^

  • @Multicrafts1 I've never tried using glue but I've heard of people using it... you can try it but I can't really tell you much about my experience/opinion since I've never used it myself.

  • WOW thanks soooo much I'm going to leave a drawer for extra random pieces! ur so amazing!!!

  • that sooo cute :)

  • i tried this, and the string was all white and it looked like powdery but there wasnt that much powder in the mixture.. any tips on how to fix this? they look awesome and i really want them to come out good like yours. you make pretty cool braclets too and im very excited to try making them!!

  • @jewlziskewlz Hm, I'm not sure what you used. I used pre-made liquid starch... I'm guessing that you used some powdered starch. I'd try heating it up slightly and mixing it well because it sounds to me like you didn't dissolve it enough.

  • have you tried wrapping the string around the balloon and then spraying starch on it? because i dont have liquid starch and i cant find any... -.-

  • @foolishgal98 The starch is what keeps the string stuck to the balloon so I'm not sure if it would work if you wrapped then starched... you can try though. If you're using spray starch why can't you spray the strands while they are in a bowl and then wrap them?

  • @BeyondBracelets i'll definitely try both ways :)

    thanks so much!

  • @foolishgal98 I know this was two months ago, but you could always try spraying the ballon with the spray starch before wrapping the strings on, and then spraying again to cover the strings? The problem with that, though, is that the ballon would most probably be well and truly stuck to the strings when it finally dried. It's maybe worth a shot, though? Although, like I said, this was two months ago, and you've probably made them already. :s :) xXx

  • @mysteryloser24 i'll try another one :) i love how they turn out! and i need a use for those scraps of floss :P

  • @foolishgal98 Haha cool. :P I've just noticed that I spelt balloon wrong twice. xD But yeah, I just thought that it was a good idea and thought I should tell you. =] xXx

  • This is awesome! I've been wondering if there's an alternative to throwing out the string, and now you have shown how it can be done! Thanks. :)

  • This is a really cool idea! I love your videos and I've been really inspired by all of them! I'm glad you posted a new video (the "fishnet" bracelet) and I'll be trying it later! If I can get some balloons, I'll be doing this too! Thanks BeyondBracelets for being inspiring! I'm getting really in to artsy crafty stuff like this! I'm kind of an "artsy nut job" (as you described yourself below) myself and you've inspired me to make some really pretty and cool stuff! -3 thanks again!

  • @cikDANCE You're very welcome. Have fun!

  • Think I may try this for the Xmas tree this year

  • @missinfekt That would be cute. =3

  • thanks alot for all your videos specially for this one, its so interesting to make these. love you :D

  • @mrszehraali Aw, yeah they'
