Creationists and religious pricks invented Hell. How the fuck are we(Atheists/all religion not Christian) supposed to believe in Imaginary torture for out "God given" right of free will? PROVE YOUR GOD, BITCHES! Otherwise...shut the fuck up.
@TheCrimsonification It's a tactic of fear, as phil perfectly highlighted, to tempt you to think "thats an awful way to spend an eternity, let's believe it just in case." But there IS no concern, since there IS no evidence of an afterlife, much less a torturous one. So when people tell me I will go to hell I no longer fear. I smile.
@DeinosDinos Fear and ignorance are what they feed on. If they can plant a shred of fear in ya, you become a zombie, spewing Bibblit verses like fucking drool and trying to consume our brains! LOL I can't take any shit they say seriously...therefore I simply refuse to treat religion as anything but a complete, twisted mindfuck. The NWO will end it.
I have watched this vid before, but I just had a humorous visual when you said friction as a source for fire of an eternal noogie or Indian burn. Damn, that sentence ran on but my drunken state keeps me from seeing what is wrong with it.
@Floortilecrocodile I hate the bs of credit god with the work scientist do. I myself am a PhD candidate in biology and I work my ass off to figure out how things work and progress our scientific knowledge, just like every other scientist out there does. Last time I checked it was the scientist at the bench for ridiculously long periods of time, not a god. It's why I credit the scientist for his work instead of a god. So those claims especially annoy me.
@vnorthru Thank you at least someone gets it. @chicago77 Once you provide facts supported that statement I will consider believing in an all mighty power that somehow is amazing yet rests on the 7th day of creation according to your book of statements based off conclusions that were made with no supporting data or research.
@Floortilecrocodile Thank you, it's good to see some people understand it cause the I really don't think chicago77 will every get it, let alone ever provide evidence.
I used to be a muslim. 2 years a go i was starting to question Islam, starting to doubt the Quran. Now i am free of religion, and life couldn't be more better. I appreciate life much more knowing that we were made by chance, and not a supreme being who constantly casts judgement on us all.
If you are not afraid when a Pastafarian warns you that you will boil forever in a giant vat of tomatoe sauce for not believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, then you'll know why atheists don't fear Hell.
A superb piece. As we are made from bits of non-living matter I have never quite understood the problem with accepting that life originally came from non-life. It is a matter of complexity; just because we do not 'know' the precise process does not make it unknown, unknowable or impossible. The wrong headedness when the religious call scientists 'arrogant' for wanting to find the answers through thought and experiment rather than 'knowing' the truth because it is revealed through a particular...
This is the perfect example of a carnal mind completely controlled by Lucifer. Free thinking ways are the acts of Satan, who will use any human being as a tool to do his will before the Day of Judgment. Believe what you want to but God's word will forever remain the same. The Word Of God was here before these self righteous imbeciles existed and will remain long after. No human mind will ever be able to comprehend or explain the miraculous works of God, period. Thanks for wasting my time, idiot.
@ymkamara420 Silly girl. Your comment is laughable! Education is the cure... for what? The education that you claim to have is obvious misinformation. Besides, I don't live for nothing of a world that will eventually pass away as it is written in the Book of Revelations. Your man made knowledge will not save your soul from eternal damnation. Just keep living for the world and we'll see where it gets you. You're just a silly pothead and you should keep your clueless mouth shut. Have a great day!
@chicago77 you're book of Revelations is nothing but a made up stories written by a ancient cult. you are the truly clueless one. u follow a religion blindly, with out any proof. u call this ignorance faith. I feel sorry for you. God is nothing but a irrational thought in your mind. I'm sorry u can't brake religion's spell. Stop with the threats of damnation. Hell is not and could not be real
@ymkamara420 Silly girl, why did HE even create you with a mouth? It's probably the most useless part of your being. You will never have to feel sorry for me. I know things that potheads like you will never come to the realization of. By the way, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things NOT SEEN. When it come to the Word of God we see with our hearts; not our eyes or our minds. God lives in your heart but you deny him, but hell will not deny your lost soul.
@chicago77 u are showing your ignorance. evidence that can not be seen is not evidence. the heart can not see, hear or feel emotion. it can only bump deoxygenated blood into it and oxygenated blood out of it. The only place God lives is in the minds of people like u who hold such irrational beliefs. Please study your bible read it and then ask yourself can these stories be true. A thinking man can not believe such fairy tails in this day and age. we have evolved. its your turn to do the same
@ymkamara420 That comment was even more laughable than the first one! Are you high? "Evolved" into what, grossly misinformed idiots like yourself? You only speak from a carnal mind. A carnal mind will never understand the works of the Divine. You're all about 1+1=2. I ask you, where do you think the 1+1 came from? We are born in the flesh. The flesh is a temple for our soul, which is our spiritual body. Sorry, oxygenated blood does not exist there. Since when does the heart not feel emotion?
@chicago77 these is no evidence for a soul or spiritual being. but there is evidence for "the big bang theory" abiogeneis and evolution to explain where the "1+1" came from. can u prove any testable prove of any existent of any god. and u prove with testable evidence that your particular god is real. No u can't btw the heart has never feel emotion. The amygdala part of the brain does. please get an education in the sciences so u can break religion's spell.
@ymkamara420 Bravo! The amygdala. You passed the test only to prove that your knowledge is based solely on what man has set before you in black and white. The spiritual world does not deal in worldly logic. If there was ever such an event, who do you think created the elements for it to take place? Also, who in the world told you that I was not educated in science? I gained the knowledge of science at a college level when I was 10. My teachers nicknamed me "the scientist". You weren't even born!
@chicago77 haha dont make me laugh. stop lying u have no knowledge of any science. My knowledge comes from what can be tested and proven. nothing more nothing less
@ymkamara420 I'm not making you laugh, it's the marijuana you're smoking. How are you gonna tell me that I don't have any knowledge of a subject that I learned before you were born? You are a foolish child. The "tests" and "proof" that you speak of is not proof at all. Your inferior knowledge derives from men of Godless minds. These men, as well as yourself, lack wisdom. You're a fool to believe a man who claims to have higher intelligence over a man who has true wisdom. What a worthless mind :(
@chicago77 wow u are so ignorant. u deny science and then say u have studied it. u have no wisdom. u are so dumb. hahahahaha. but hey keep believing in your dumbass god. i take advantage of dumbass Christians like u every day. I have more knowledge then u ever will. unless u stop believing in your imaginary friend
@ymkamara420 I don't deny science, I only deny what science has done to take the true Creator out of every equation. It's great to be fascinated by the miraculous works of God, but to deny his works altogether is just blasphemy. Just so you know, God is going to show you who the real dumbass is in due time. You claim that you have knowledge but you make statements that are completely asinine. Keep your knowledge, I choose wisdom. Recess is over, go back to class.
@ymkamara420 You've only convinced yourself that God doesn't exist. You'll never convince me. I know of God because I've felt the undeniable power of God on many occasions in my lifetime. Your god is marijuana. The two do not compare. This is a good time to just say "no". I'm not threatening you by any means whatsoever. The Word Of God means what it says. I'm really beginning to think that you're such a big fan of science because you were born from a test tube. Is this true?
@chicago77 So if the word of god stays the same, then I assume you endorse slavery, rape, murder and genocide. All these are endorsed and/or ordered by your god in the bible and if it stays the same then you must think these appalling actions are alright.
And how is rejecting your claim of a god, which you have not provided evidence for, make people self righteous? I accept thing for which there is evidence. If you demonstrate with evidence there is a god I will accept the claim, not before
@vnorthru First of all, you do not question your Creator. Everything that He does is part of His perfect plan, but you're too human to realize that. Second of all, the evidence has been provided since the beginning of time. Man chose to worship man instead, and made gods out of people of worldly intellect instead of divine knowledge. JEHOVAH God is not a mythical character. When He makes His presence known, no one in this universe can deny it; living or non living - THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS!
@chicago77 Demonstrate that he his the creator, and after you do that you need to answer was he drunk or an idiot? The human body is not perfect and has a lot of flaws so he must be a pretty shitty creator. And where is this evidence you say there is? I've never come across any. I don't worship man, I do value intellect since it has gotten us to where we are today but that is not the same as worshiping. Is the divine knowledge the same that wrote the bible with its inaccuracies and atrocities?
@vnorthru What bible are you reading from. There are no inaccuracies in mine. Who claims it to be inaccurate, modern science? Just because you chose to believe misleading information that was created from the inferior minds of man doesn't make everything else untrue. I must admit though, you are a very shitty creation. He still loves you the same, and if God can love Canadians, I think it shows a lot of character on His behalf. Good day, sir.
@chicago77 Wonder which I will trust, the bible that thinks the earth is flat and geocentricism, or modern science that has provided medical and technological advances that have improved our life? I'll take the science since it has demonstrated itself to have a better track record. See science actually cares about the truth and you have to demonstrate claims made with evidence (in other words actually takes work) whereas religion just believe in a book, facts don't matter, no thinking needed
@chicago77 As for the inaccuracies, check out watch?v=Hym8DHBbUVg for starters, then do some actual research. If you think anything in the bible is accurate, where is your evidence of such (bible is not evidence the bible is true). And if you really think science is "misleading information" then you should stop using any modern medicine and all technology like computers and the internet since these were all discovered/developed by "inferior minds of man", unless your a worthless hypocrite.
@chicago77 And let me guess your on of the arrogant Americans who think the poor should just die and more wars and the world revolves around you? I'm a proud Canadian and will take it over the US any day cause even though there are some decent Americans there are also too many asshole Americans like yourself. If the god of your bible is true, he is a vile, sadistic, appalling SOB (according to your bible, try reading it) I would never worship that SOB. Luckily it's fiction
@vnorthru *Yawn*... you said all of that but didn't say nothing at all. I'm not going to watch a video made by people like you to tell me anything about God. Your intelligence comes from the minds of imbeciles (oxymoronic, but true, nonetheless). I read my Bible; that's why I believe it and do not question God. I know God in my heart. I've felt His power. Go ahead and follow your scientist heroes right into the lake of fire. Heaven would be better off without you. By the way, I'm a proud human.
@chicago77 So your to scared that you could be wrong to bother to check facts since by the way the video also gives you the biblical verse for each contradiction so you could go look them up yourself and that's why I choose that over one that did not cite their source. Basically you are admitting to be a lazy and unable to think for yourself. So it was "the minds of imbeciles" that gave us modern medicine and technology like the computer you are using and the internet? You are a hypocrite.
@vnorthru I love modern science and technology! The only difference between you and I is that I have the wisdom to determine science fiction from the Divine Creation. God was there at the beginning of His creation. Man wasn't created yet, and the corrupted minds of men after the Days of Christ took God out of every account of creation and decided to make gods of themselves and of objects, and even created their own gods. These are the works of satan which the Bible revealed of this day.
@chicago77 Given that it's the scientist that develop medical and technological advancements, I would trust them since I also know how it works. For you to sit there using the products of science and then bash it just make you a worthless hypocrite. And if you bible is correct, which you have not demonstrated, and portrays accurately the character of god I would rather burn in hell for eternity than spend a minute with that sadistic SOB since I do have integrity and cannot condone his actions
@vnorthru Worthless point... who do you think gave man the knowledge to create modern medicine and technology?! It is the mind which hath wisdom that can tell the works of man from the works of The Divine. Satan's purpose is to take your soul before the Day of Judgment. The souls of all Godless men will be cast in the lake of fire with him on this day. You say that you would rather "burn in hell" (ha!), burn your hand over a fire first and then post it on YouTube. I'd pay a dollar to see that!
@chicago77 *facepalm* you do realize that the science that you seem to want to dismiss is done using the same method that gives us all modern medicine and technology. Actually much of modern medicine uses the theory of evolution. For example vaccines design uses evolution, and all model organisms, which are used to model most diseases in biomedical science, work due to the homology present from evolution. Many diseases are understood by an understanding of evolution. It's a very useful theory
@chicago77 And if you think that somehow you bible is true, where is your evidence? What is your evidence of creation? So far I have seen absolutely no evidence for creation, yet evolution is supported by a mountain of evidence, which I have examined. The only people who believe creation are ignorant idiots that don't even have a basic understanding of evolution(yet think ignorance is something against evolution, but only shows their ignorance), and those that understand evolution accept it.
@chicago77 So until you can provide verifiable evidence for creation, why would I accept it? I don't accept other claims without evidence, so why would I make an exception for your fairy tale? If you can provide evidence then it might be a different story.
I stand by the comment of IF I had to choose burning in hell vs. spending time with the god of the bible, I would choose hell, cause god, according to your bible, is a sick SOB. Since he doesn't exist I really don't think I have to worry
@chicago77 So instead of providing evidence for your claims you resort to ad hominin attacks which only demonstrates you have no valid argument. So I assume the reason you believe the theory of evolution is wrong is some moron, who probably doesn't know anything about it, told you and you were too lazy to fact check the moron. By rejecting evolution and thinking those scientist are being fools, but using all the products of those same scientist you like is being a hypocrite.
@chicago77 And if you somehow think the scientist that have produced most of modern medicine do not accept evolution you are a moron. I am a scientist and work along side many of those working on improving human health and technology. Amongst my colleges there is no debate since they all accept it due to the mountain of evidence for it that includes numerous similar phylogenies, observation in nature and lab, human chromosome 2, homology in structure and genes, ERVs, mtDNA, etc.
@chicago77 As for the WTC conspiracy bs, science has not demonstrated it to be a conspiracy but actually the opposite. The conspiracy claims on this are meet with the same question I have asked you, where is your evidence? I do not accept claims without evidence and I refuse to make an exception for your particular fairy tale. If you want me to accept it, you must first provide evidence.
BTW, evolution is supported by evidence and if you have evidence against it submit to Nature
@curtis12375 You have a valid point. In science we don't prove thing but we can demonstrate a theory. I personally hate the word prove and was taught not to use it in science. That being said, it does not discredit evolution. We also have not proven gravity, germ theory, atomic theory, or any other theory, we have demonstrated and supported them with evidence. I doubt you'll reject antibiotics because we haven't proven germ theory or try to fly because we haven't proven gravity
@vnorthru Don't misunderstand. I DO agree that how we translate the evidence is where the problems lie. The evidence is never wrong, but it doesn't have to mean what we think it means. Evolution might be exactly right, but I suspect the changes to be different than actually thought to be. For instance, the Pit Bull didn't evolve, but was cross bred and came to be. 3,000 years from now the fossil record will show what could appear to be a change in physiology, an evolution.
@curtis12375 I do agree the evidence supports evolution but dose not prove it only because I don't agree with ever using the word proved for a scientific theory. Now the reason I am cautious of saying this is because non-scientist tend to take that as if there is doubt, which for evolution there is no controversy about evolution and it is accepted by 99.9% of biologist. Looking at the evidence clearly demonstrates evolution and NOT creation. There is no way to interpret as creation
@vnorthru I'll address the impossibility of verifying what the cause of the minor changes actually result from. Two species with similar enough physiology can breed. Some times the offspring turns out incapable of reproduction. Some times it DOES have the ability to breed. That process being recognized during evolution is NOT what evolutionist enjoy advertising, though, is it? Change through breeding, not random mutation. Completely different.
@curtis12375 Now your example of the pit bull is flawed. Yes it was bread but that was within the same species and was selective breeding. The actual definition of evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a reproducing population. This is what breeding does, it selects certain alleles and therefore changes the allele frequencies. So technically the pit bull does show evolution. And yes we will probably see physiological changes in 3000 years
@vnorthru I think we see elements of changes over time. These changes are not the random mutations frequently promoted by science worshipers, though, are they? Instead they try to suggest that these changes merely happened with no causes or unknown causes and the crossbreeding is typically left out. It's left out because it hurts the argument, though, not because of improbability. Did the cockapoo spontaneously occur or did it come from crossbreeding? Vegetation's done this, too.
@curtis12375 I think you misunderstand what science really says and are going off what media has told you. Unfortunately media sucks at reporting science. I never trust media on science always do the research myself. Breeding is part of evolution, and I know of no scientist that would say otherwise. They may state that it is man driven evolution instead of nature, but it is still selecting for alleles, just like natural selection does, it's just us choosing which alleles.
@vnorthru I'm thinking that you are misunderstanding my addressing of matters. People say that's what science proves and disproves. blah blah blah. I tell people that what they think science says isn't always what science says. My point is that what science IS claiming in terms of ancient creatures still doesn't prove what is thought to be proven. For all seriousness, those earliest creatures very well could have been the Creator testing the process of building new life.
@curtis12375 I agree that a lot of people don't understand what science says on many thing. The media does not help this. I would like to see people be more aware of science and how it works and also what we mean by demonstrated but not proved. Though when you do look at the evidence, it does not in any way indicate a creator but does support evolution. Yes there are things we don;t know, but that is why there is active research into evolution and abiogenesis.
@curtis12375 Now the idea a creator was testing only goes to show it was either drunk or just an idiot. If that was the case why is there so many "flaws" of the human body. For example the eye in cheplopods have betters eyes that we do. A lot of these "flaws" demonstrate evolution because most are do to our evolutionary history.
@vnorthru I think there are misconceptions about a lot of aspects of creation, for instance the concept that genetic trending is exclusive to abiogenesis. The existence of a creator simply means the trigger to existence wasn't accidental. The assorted religions that sprang up don't have any bearing on the potential existence of a higher being.
Therefore what humans think would be better don't mean there isn't a reason for or prove that intelligent design couldn't have done it.
@curtis12375 Also no real scientist think evolution is just through random mutation. Mutation is an aspect but it need selection to act on it to become more prevalent, and therefore natural selection is what drives evolution. Natural selection is NOT random. Evolution is not goal driven so some may say no known cause, only because there is not end goal. It selects for advantageous traits based on environment and select against negative. Environment is really the determining factor.
@vnorthru Natural selection being personified, as in the terminology that it actively takes actions in selecting, is part of why people answer the way they do and where the discontent comes from. However, if all creatures are the same, ultimately, then there's no real answer for what causes any diversity. What purpose does diversity serve? How would it ever make any sense from a first Godcell? 1 cell becomes two, two become 4, 4 become 8, 8 become 16, etc, right? Why would that happen?
@curtis12375 Genetic diversity is required for a healthy population. When a species loses genetic diversity it creates problem and if it decreases enough the species enters an extinction vortex. Natural selection is not a guided process and I do think people don't understand that and therefore it becomes personified.
I don't know all the specific for the first cell of the top and my head but multicellularity does have advantages and therefore could have been selected for
@vnorthru Evolution shouldn't be used with terms like selected or chosen. Evolution isn't a process, it's a result. And that's part of the confusion. Mutation is the process of something differing from what it's parents were on a genetic level. Evolution is the name for when these changes occur. If everything living comes from the same single ancestor, then everything is related, period. And if everything exists with no purpose then crime is survival of the fittest applied.
@curtis12375 As for crossbreeding, those that can interbreed and produce viable (i.e. fertile) offspring are of the same species (this is the biological definition of species). Most domesticated dogs, from the chihuahua to the great dane, are the same species. The variation seen is similar to the different traits seen in humans. Science doesn't say a breed of dogs spontaneous occurred but came from different alleles. I recommend looking into the real science instead of media hype.
Cool vid! If God can create hell with magic fire and without it taking billions of years to develop with chance particle processes, why didn't he create our universe like that? He could have put us in a magic universe that just appears, with a ready made world for human habitation.
The day we recognize and realize what we are, thats the day we will learn that theres no reason or motive to hate or kill each other. That day Mother Nature will be happy and proud of the burden she bears, that beautiful process called life.
We are all just one large NEO away from seeing God. Not because he will show himself, but rather due to the mass ignorance that will emerge as those of us who survive reenter the stone age.
The more I learn of the realm of science, the more I believe in God. The reason is that the more I learn of the complexities of the Universe, the more I feel our own existence just becomes less and less of a chance and more and more unlikely if we truly lived in a wholly random universe.
@KingZolem Given the vastness of the universe, the amount of matter in it, and the forces we understand to govern it, it becomes more and more clear that we (or something similar) were bound to happen, many times over :)
@KingZolem The "complexities" of the universe come from the physical laws. Things are bound to happen when the forces are in the right balance, and these happen in extremely minute parts of the universe. Unless you've seen a million other universes with no "complexities" you have no "odds" to speak of. You can't make a measurement of 1, then calculate a probability and label it a miracle. It's like saying winning the lottery is a miracle...it's not. It can be randomness, like with the universe.
"The latest survey involved 517 members of the National Academy of Sciences; half replied. When queried about belief in "personal god," only 7% responded in the affirmative, while 72.2% expressed "personal disbelief," and 20.8%
expressed "doubt or agnosticism." Belief in the concept of human
immortality, i.e. life after death declined from the 35.2% measured in
1914 to just 7.9%."
- Nature, 1998. Clearly, scientists are rejecting the concept of God more and more.
"Newton, living 400 years ago, like many christians and muslims believe today: that life cannot come from nonlife"
I'd actually contest that no one thinks thinks that life cannot come from nonlife. A simple example is food. We consume dead organisms (nonliving), which become part of our body (living). But an objection may be something like those organisms are different from other inanimate objects, well it has long since been known that water is non living and still needed for life.
I completely refudiate your definition of fire! Every child knows that fire is the very breath of Satan! By extension, that is why dragons breathe fire too. You scientists just want to rain on our Halloween day parade. A physical analysis of fire is as deluded an exercise as trying to explain the sheer magic of God's wondrous rainbow. You can't explain that either! Science is just guesses and lies!
@gabssnake"Ironic that you say that through a computer."
Isn't it, though! Are God's gifts not innumerable? Can we not look to any corner of the world and see God's glory manifest in the smallest of blessings to the largest of miracles? Does not the grandeur of His Creation bring us to bended knees? Yes, yes, YES! Believe not and a fiery pit awaits you! "For a fool in his heart says there is no God." Science cannot compare with the Ultimate Truth! Their lies are easily crushed! In HELL!
@freedeanna "Learn to think, or reading is a waste of my time, Bye." Then why would you spend 5-15 minutes arguing with someone instead of calling it off? I understand if you felt the need to respond, but please clarify that for me. For me, arguing gets us nowhere, but you did provide some valid "claims". Athiests have become for "aggressive" in their "attacks", that does NOT help in people searching for answers. What would be the mindset that will let a religious person to attack someone?
@TabuuIntense - An essential preconception that there is right and wrong and absolute truth. Which is by far one of most destructive delusions one can have.
If you accept preconceived opposition and absolutes in your mind, you would go as far as required to avoid mental dissonance: Human degradation, torture, organized massive assassination, you name it. All in the name of right and truth.
Life coming from none life depends on what you consider life to be. Is it life as we know it. Or could we say that atoms are alive in some way. Therefore it stll might be correct to say that life comes from life.
@ZeusHelios Your statement is equivalent to saying, "Or could we say that SAND is alive in some way."
We COULD say ANYTHING is alive in "some way". But when you say it without evidence or reasoning, or AGAINST evidence and reason, that's ALL you're doing: just SAYING it.
@philhellenes If you want to stick to life as we know it then OK. it therefore must come from none life that also forms stars and planets and all matter including our bodies. Or Life can be considered as something that interacts with something so atoms in a way can be said to be alive. So yes sand can be said to be alive in that way but not life as we know it to be. So the proof atoms are alive is because they interact with other things. But not life in the same way as we know it.
@philhellenes I think his point was Organic matter. Some things that are traditionally considered "alive" technically aren't - Virus' for example are not technically alive. Organic material is similarly not considered alive. Where do you draw the line? This confusion leads people to think there was nothing "alive" - just things like sand and rock, and then suddenly there was life. The process was in fact a lot more linear than most suspect.
Thanks for describing fire in an interesting way; thankfully I was just studying for my chemistry exam so I understood what you were saying (like electromagnetic radiation.) Science for the win =)
@vonmoose1 Its not a Jury. It is deemed acceptable when it can be reproduced and the math can account for different parameters for such variables. Dont hate unless you know what your talking about
No. These people review the works, and if there is something objectable, they are damn well going to point out WHAT! So it isn't a simple "rule of majority".
While not all religions punish the non-believers, it is true that the largest have threats of hell and evangelize.
People he is not asking you to be an atheist. He is just asking you to think for yourself rather than let fear and superstition.
If you disagree with this, then ask yourself about your religion: What separates your religion from a cult, in which no one is allowed to question at all?
Congratulations he knows chemicals to start fire, and atoms and the way people live, and what they do, so even if people believed in religion leave them alone seriously and burn in hell thats exaggerating a bit, or the god hates fags whos says that all i can say is its all opinionated
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need religion, hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important, qualitative differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption.
Homosexual activists, with complete support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims and martyrs; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
I can't tell you how amazing it is to shed religion. Dropping God from my life has improved it in every conceivable way. I think more. I'm better at my job. I have much more honest and interesting relationships. I even read faster. Dropping the religious filter from my thinking made me a better person overall.
i 'm more taoistic => from birth. in fact we all are but the problem in the world is the education and the influences of culture :-( we need to understand more and try to see the things the way they are :-) we need to grow in a more spiritual way=>that has been left behind=>we need a merge of left and rightbrainthinking :-) we need to evolve in a better way.
=> i even asked my father if he knew anyone in the familly who had paranormal abillitys => there is something with consiousness => it is everywhere. i love science and they will find some real interesting stuff out the following decades :-) i am not a religious person but => there is more than we or any scientific person knows. if you know stuff before it happens => the future is not set tough. what does it tell you than?
the problem with this => getting to technical => to left brain thinking => everything is god => nature etc. (whatever you want to call it).what is true is that religion has always been miss used. i felt it when i was abouth 4 years old. everything is connected :-) mistics already knew for thousends of years that everything was made up of empty space and that tere is NO TIME :-) i had have myself been trough several events wich i couldn't explain => damn 500 caracters is to short.
@Shino302 I doubt that. Deist maybe, but not atheist. Had he known what we know now about the universe, he may have been atheist, but he didn't have the luxury of being born after the discovery of natural selection and the atom and quantum physics. :P
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@paceetrate the truth is scientists know very little about quantum physics , he talks about the mind but he does not know what the mind is , he thinks atoms etc join together in order to make up the created order ,yet it cannot think , and you people call Christians deluded .
@SuperPatrick777 Dear, just because YOU don't know the first damn thing about quantum physics doesn't mean that nobody else knows, and also, not knowing everything does not equal not knowing anything. Which is basically all your religion is, isn't it? "I don't know jack shit, so neither do you, and Goddidit." Yes, wonderful non-explanation there, Einstein. Also, don't say he doesn't know what the mind is when you clearly don't have the first clue, yourself.
I see this argument a lot on creationist sites. They say we don't know how cesium atoms are accurate enough for atomic clocks to work, so God must make them vibrate at the constant rate.
If we found a problem in our universe, and the majority of scientists agreed that we could never undertand how it works no matter how much research and effort we put into it, I'd accept creation. There's never been anything like that, and I'm sure there never will be.
Once again, I cannot thank you enough for this vid. You have accomplished something in minutes that took centuries of work to have heard. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your direct, no nonsense style makes this easily understandable by anyone.....and it frightens the hardest believer.
Look at it again. What's this attitude saying? "We are rational, scientific, objective, and have found the right philosophy. You are irrational, unscientific, subjective and have the wrong philosophy. I was deluded once too. Your talk of peace, but you are violent. Peace comes with atheism. So, I am going to belittle you, attack you, blame you for hate crimes and war, make fun of you, call you names and generally piss on you, because you should become an atheist, nice and reasonable like me."?
I'm starting to become sadder about the theist-bashing than I am for theists. I suspect it might do more harm than good & indicate a lack of psychological understanding. Even if it's done out of compassion, for every one who renounces religion, the scornful, belittling attitude might entrench ten deeper in it. We do that. But would you ridicule those you feel compassion for, the child with the potty monster? It might pass the hate test officially, but it's hardly a welcoming hand you hold out.
@kiemul136 I didn't say I felt sad about the criticism, but about theist-bashing. The increase in atheists may correspond to criticism (& vitriolic attack too), but that does not establish a causal link, although I agree it's evidence supporting that claim. I imagine that believers are swayed mostly by education in science & reasoning, & least by displays of moral laxity & poor self-control by atheists. I bet there are studies on influencing opinions with different emotional tone. Might google.
@kiemul136 ...besides, it's the principle. I'm not saying I'm never guilty, but I try to be considerate and reasonable. It seems like a betrayal of the moral position atheists could hold, when they do things they lecture believers about - emotionality, which harms our reasoning, aggression, when they blame religion for war. It's not religion, it's people failing to disagree peacefully. So-called "rationalists" name-calling at the pitiably, innocently indoctrinated. Many of us *were* religious!
@freedeanna "I imagine that believers are swayed mostly by education in science" - It's a well known fact that most theists are extremely ignorant of science and evidence, just look at the statistics on the acceptance of evolution (40-45% in America!) I fear your approach of the "Mr. Nice guy" simply is not very effective.
@freedeanna No, as long as you'll have religious scriptures that demands the slaughter of "infidels", there will never be agreement and peace. It IS religion that alienates and segregates people. It IS religion that is the cause for harm and distress in the world: take any two predominately atheist countries like Sweden and Japan for example. Now compare the crime rates with predominately religious countries like the USA and Iraq. The harm is undeniable.
@kiemul136 Think. Segregation of blacks & whites in USA was down to religion, was it? The gang warfare in most urban cities? Ethnic cleansing in former Yugoslavia, Rwanda &c? Holocaust? What about the many places where religions have lived side-by-side peacefully for centuries? What about a predominantly secular West enslaving vast swathes of the globe over 100 years? Secular xenophobia slaughtering 1st Nation ppl of America? Vast majority don't interpret scriptures' demands as such.
@freedeanna Obviously religion is not the only culprit for the unrest in the countries. However, it certainly is a contending factor for one the biggest. Again, statistics show a significant correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates. The harmfulness of religion is undeniable. This is NOT my speculation; this is statistical evidence.
@kiemul136 I'm confident you'd find similar evidence for relative immorality of other groups by choosing to count different attributes within different data sets, body count, etc.. People argue this endlessly because they focus on different data and draw different conclusions. What is our collective cherry-picking for? To persuade others that some group of humans is bad & dangerous, but we all are, and xenophobia is the problem. The political reason for your stats is to denounce religion /cont'd
@freedeanna Are you possibly suggesting that this distinct correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates is just a coincidence?! It's not cherry picking, it's demonstrable!
@kiemul136 "Are you possibly suggesting that this distinct correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates is just a coincidence?! It's not cherry picking, it's demonstrable!" No (although I haven't studied it so I don't know). I'm saying "Obviously religion is not the only culprit for the unrest in the countries." (or rather, you did). See how that's cherry-picking? It may be one culprit, you picked that one. Furthermore, crime rate is one data set, and there are others.
@freedeanna All I'm saying is that there is a CORRELATION. Atheists countries HAVE crime non-the-less, however, it is significantly LOWER that that of a religious country. Therefore it verifies my claim. What's so difficult to understand!
You're reduced to just appealing for other factors besides religion (which I already granted) for causing social upset though it is undeniably a contributing factor.
@kiemul136 I think I do understand but do clarify if I'm wrong. Your claim is a causal relationship (CR) "the harmfulness of religion" and "80% of the shit...". Your evidence, as you know, is a correlation, not a CR, but you appear to be ignoring your own facts. Here's an alternative CR: Crime in "religious countries" like USA could be higher because of aggression by atheists who also live there, and in "atheist countries" the religious just don't rock the boat. JUST an alternative to make pt.
@freedeanna Firstly the most crimes that are committed are property crimes which is a sign of distrust and unrest in society. Secondly atheists are NOT aggressive in the sense of becoming suicide bombers or flying planes into building (which is, again, a religiously motivated act), we just use words to explain things about the cosmos or evolution. Nor do we endorse slavery (unlike the church) which has greatly (along with Islamic terrorist groups) exacerbated the racism in America today.
@kiemul136 For me there are a couple of things left over that might be good to clarify before I address anymore of your characterisations of human groups. 1. I said "I was appealing for respect, non-violence in word and deed. Are you arguing that we should be hateful towards the religious?" 2. Are we now in agreement that there's a difference between correlation and cause/effect? 3. Does that mean that the crime rates don't verify "the harmfulness of religion", some evidence, but not proof?
@freedeanna I've tried to back up every point that I've made with evidence. It is you that has provided nothing but claims. I recommend the book "god is not great", it provides all the evidence you'll ever need. I'm not refuting you anymore; you're tiring me out with your nonsense...
@kiemul136 OK, no need to get tired. I'm pretty infuriated anyway. I have put propositions to you and asked you if you agree with them or not, trying to have a conversation. You have made the claims. They're here for anyone to read. I have just said how I feel and made some philosophical points, which you apparently can't deal with now. Maybe try to think about them later. They're important. Hitchens is way down on my reading list. Learn to think, or reading is a waste of time. Bye.
(cont')..while religious find evidence for *their* contention looking at other data. I'm drawing your attention to the common denominator, blame, antagonism, hate, xenophobia. One secular conflict proves it. I'll remind you I was appealing for respect, non-violence in word and deed. Are you arguing that we should be hateful towards the religious? You hint it with stats. Why not forgive, build connections, work for peace? How can we blame a *problem group* without being part of the problem?
@freedeanna Also to answer your questions. 1st - yes (the church supported the slavery of african immigrants). 2nd - no. 3rd - can't say for Yugoslavia, however, the ethnic cleansing in India was purely for religious reasons. 4th - yes ( he thought he was doing god's will - "My feelings as a Christian points me to... recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them"- Adolph Hitler) 5th - Examples? 6th -??? 7th - can't say...
@freedeanna Religion turns people into suicide bombers and to fly planes into skyscrapers (Al Qaeda specifically are driven by religious motives). There are countless more examples: around 80% of the shit in the world is the direct cause of religion (read "God is Not Great - How religion poisons everything" by Christopher Hitchens)
@kiemul136 "...80%..." Cherry-picking again. Even if "80% of the shit in the world" could be shown to be a "direct cause" (sic) of religion, religion might be the only thing that allowed our ancestors to survive, so you owe it your life. Religion might have inspired 90% of the greatest work up to and including the Enlightenment. Hawkins talks about the mind of god metaphorically, but that was many scientists' literal motive. Xtians in my town do most of the social activism, home & abroad.
it has contributed the same things above, but much more better things for society and life. Back in the 1300-1600s, If it weren't for oppressive churches and dumb power-hungry persons saying that it will burn anyone for preached science, we might actually be like, wayyyyyyyyyyy more advanced today and might be able to do things no one imagined....
this video is awesome...dont let anybody try to sway your own thoughts and decisions because at the end of the day you are not them and they are not you..religion does evil things to people and the majority of them become delusional
Regarding the first 3rd of the posting, don't assume that scientists from the past DID believe in God, despite what they may have claimed at the time. Just like politicians today it could be career suicide to cast doubt on the established belief systems of the uneducated masses or powerful establishment forces whose authority relied on belief. Didn't Plato say something about those in power merely pretending to believe in the Gods because religion was a useful tool for controlling the populous?
I referred this video to an atheist who still fears hell. Thanks again Philhellenes. One of your lovely videos

Creationists and religious pricks invented Hell. How the fuck are we(Atheists/all religion not Christian) supposed to believe in Imaginary torture for out "God given" right of free will? PROVE YOUR GOD, BITCHES! Otherwise...shut the fuck up.
TheCrimsonification 1 month ago

@vnorthru I can't agree more, he tried telling me god gives us the knowledge we have. No sir, scientific research gives us knowledge.
Floortilecrocodile 1 month ago

I used to be a muslim. 2 years a go i was starting to question Islam, starting to doubt the Quran. Now i am free of religion, and life couldn't be more better. I appreciate life much more knowing that we were made by chance, and not a supreme being who constantly casts judgement on us all.

@chicago77 no your brain washed. religion is a cancer, education is the cure
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 Silly girl. Your comment is laughable! Education is the cure... for what? The education that you claim to have is obvious misinformation. Besides, I don't live for nothing of a world that will eventually pass away as it is written in the Book of Revelations. Your man made knowledge will not save your soul from eternal damnation. Just keep living for the world and we'll see where it gets you. You're just a silly pothead and you should keep your clueless mouth shut. Have a great day!
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 you're book of Revelations is nothing but a made up stories written by a ancient cult. you are the truly clueless one. u follow a religion blindly, with out any proof. u call this ignorance faith. I feel sorry for you. God is nothing but a irrational thought in your mind. I'm sorry u can't brake religion's spell. Stop with the threats of damnation. Hell is not and could not be real
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 Silly girl, why did HE even create you with a mouth? It's probably the most useless part of your being. You will never have to feel sorry for me. I know things that potheads like you will never come to the realization of. By the way, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things NOT SEEN. When it come to the Word of God we see with our hearts; not our eyes or our minds. God lives in your heart but you deny him, but hell will not deny your lost soul.
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 u are showing your ignorance. evidence that can not be seen is not evidence. the heart can not see, hear or feel emotion. it can only bump deoxygenated blood into it and oxygenated blood out of it. The only place God lives is in the minds of people like u who hold such irrational beliefs. Please study your bible read it and then ask yourself can these stories be true. A thinking man can not believe such fairy tails in this day and age. we have evolved. its your turn to do the same
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 That comment was even more laughable than the first one! Are you high? "Evolved" into what, grossly misinformed idiots like yourself? You only speak from a carnal mind. A carnal mind will never understand the works of the Divine. You're all about 1+1=2. I ask you, where do you think the 1+1 came from? We are born in the flesh. The flesh is a temple for our soul, which is our spiritual body. Sorry, oxygenated blood does not exist there. Since when does the heart not feel emotion?
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 these is no evidence for a soul or spiritual being. but there is evidence for "the big bang theory" abiogeneis and evolution to explain where the "1+1" came from. can u prove any testable prove of any existent of any god. and u prove with testable evidence that your particular god is real. No u can't btw the heart has never feel emotion. The amygdala part of the brain does. please get an education in the sciences so u can break religion's spell.
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 Bravo! The amygdala. You passed the test only to prove that your knowledge is based solely on what man has set before you in black and white. The spiritual world does not deal in worldly logic. If there was ever such an event, who do you think created the elements for it to take place? Also, who in the world told you that I was not educated in science? I gained the knowledge of science at a college level when I was 10. My teachers nicknamed me "the scientist". You weren't even born!
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 haha dont make me laugh. stop lying u have no knowledge of any science. My knowledge comes from what can be tested and proven. nothing more nothing less
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 I'm not making you laugh, it's the marijuana you're smoking. How are you gonna tell me that I don't have any knowledge of a subject that I learned before you were born? You are a foolish child. The "tests" and "proof" that you speak of is not proof at all. Your inferior knowledge derives from men of Godless minds. These men, as well as yourself, lack wisdom. You're a fool to believe a man who claims to have higher intelligence over a man who has true wisdom. What a worthless mind :(
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 wow u are so ignorant. u deny science and then say u have studied it. u have no wisdom. u are so dumb. hahahahaha. but hey keep believing in your dumbass god. i take advantage of dumbass Christians like u every day. I have more knowledge then u ever will. unless u stop believing in your imaginary friend
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 I don't deny science, I only deny what science has done to take the true Creator out of every equation. It's great to be fascinated by the miraculous works of God, but to deny his works altogether is just blasphemy. Just so you know, God is going to show you who the real dumbass is in due time. You claim that you have knowledge but you make statements that are completely asinine. Keep your knowledge, I choose wisdom. Recess is over, go back to class.
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 u have no wisdom. just a mind fulled of lies to by region. God does not exist stop with the dumbass threats
ymkamara420 2 months ago
@ymkamara420 You've only convinced yourself that God doesn't exist. You'll never convince me. I know of God because I've felt the undeniable power of God on many occasions in my lifetime. Your god is marijuana. The two do not compare. This is a good time to just say "no". I'm not threatening you by any means whatsoever. The Word Of God means what it says. I'm really beginning to think that you're such a big fan of science because you were born from a test tube. Is this true?
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 So if the word of god stays the same, then I assume you endorse slavery, rape, murder and genocide. All these are endorsed and/or ordered by your god in the bible and if it stays the same then you must think these appalling actions are alright.
And how is rejecting your claim of a god, which you have not provided evidence for, make people self righteous? I accept thing for which there is evidence. If you demonstrate with evidence there is a god I will accept the claim, not before
vnorthru 2 months ago

Is the divine knowledge the same that wrote the bible with its inaccuracies and atrocities?
vnorthru 2 months ago
@vnorthru What bible are you reading from. There are no inaccuracies in mine. Who claims it to be inaccurate, modern science? Just because you chose to believe misleading information that was created from the inferior minds of man doesn't make everything else untrue. I must admit though, you are a very shitty creation. He still loves you the same, and if God can love Canadians, I think it shows a lot of character on His behalf. Good day, sir.
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 Wonder which I will trust, the bible that thinks the earth is flat and geocentricism, or modern science that has provided medical and technological advances that have improved our life? I'll take the science since it has demonstrated itself to have a better track record. See science actually cares about the truth and you have to demonstrate claims made with evidence (in other words actually takes work) whereas religion just believe in a book, facts don't matter, no thinking needed
vnorthru 2 months ago
@chicago77 As for the inaccuracies, check out watch?v=Hym8DHBbUVg for starters, then do some actual research. If you think anything in the bible is accurate, where is your evidence of such (bible is not evidence the bible is true). And if you really think science is "misleading information" then you should stop using any modern medicine and all technology like computers and the internet since these were all discovered/developed by "inferior minds of man", unless your a worthless hypocrite.
vnorthru 2 months ago
@chicago77 And let me guess your on of the arrogant Americans who think the poor should just die and more wars and the world revolves around you? I'm a proud Canadian and will take it over the US any day cause even though there are some decent Americans there are also too many asshole Americans like yourself. If the god of your bible is true, he is a vile, sadistic, appalling SOB (according to your bible, try reading it) I would never worship that SOB. Luckily it's fiction
vnorthru 2 months ago
@vnorthru *Yawn*... you said all of that but didn't say nothing at all. I'm not going to watch a video made by people like you to tell me anything about God. Your intelligence comes from the minds of imbeciles (oxymoronic, but true, nonetheless). I read my Bible; that's why I believe it and do not question God. I know God in my heart. I've felt His power. Go ahead and follow your scientist heroes right into the lake of fire. Heaven would be better off without you. By the way, I'm a proud human.
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 So your to scared that you could be wrong to bother to check facts since by the way the video also gives you the biblical verse for each contradiction so you could go look them up yourself and that's why I choose that over one that did not cite their source. Basically you are admitting to be a lazy and unable to think for yourself. So it was "the minds of imbeciles" that gave us modern medicine and technology like the computer you are using and the internet? You are a hypocrite.
vnorthru 2 months ago
@vnorthru I love modern science and technology! The only difference between you and I is that I have the wisdom to determine science fiction from the Divine Creation. God was there at the beginning of His creation. Man wasn't created yet, and the corrupted minds of men after the Days of Christ took God out of every account of creation and decided to make gods of themselves and of objects, and even created their own gods. These are the works of satan which the Bible revealed of this day.
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 Given that it's the scientist that develop medical and technological advancements, I would trust them since I also know how it works. For you to sit there using the products of science and then bash it just make you a worthless hypocrite. And if you bible is correct, which you have not demonstrated, and portrays accurately the character of god I would rather burn in hell for eternity than spend a minute with that sadistic SOB since I do have integrity and cannot condone his actions
vnorthru 2 months ago
@vnorthru Worthless point... who do you think gave man the knowledge to create modern medicine and technology?! It is the mind which hath wisdom that can tell the works of man from the works of The Divine. Satan's purpose is to take your soul before the Day of Judgment. The souls of all Godless men will be cast in the lake of fire with him on this day. You say that you would rather "burn in hell" (ha!), burn your hand over a fire first and then post it on YouTube. I'd pay a dollar to see that!
chicago77 2 months ago
@chicago77 *facepalm* you do realize that the science that you seem to want to dismiss is done using the same method that gives us all modern medicine and technology. Actually much of modern medicine uses the theory of evolution. For example vaccines design uses evolution, and all model organisms, which are used to model most diseases in biomedical science, work due to the homology present from evolution. Many diseases are understood by an understanding of evolution. It's a very useful theory
vnorthru 2 months ago
@chicago77 And if you think that somehow you bible is true, where is your evidence? What is your evidence of creation? So far I have seen absolutely no evidence for creation, yet evolution is supported by a mountain of evidence, which I have examined. The only people who believe creation are ignorant idiots that don't even have a basic understanding of evolution(yet think ignorance is something against evolution, but only shows their ignorance), and those that understand evolution accept it.
vnorthru 2 months ago
@chicago77 So until you can provide verifiable evidence for creation, why would I accept it? I don't accept other claims without evidence, so why would I make an exception for your fairy tale? If you can provide evidence then it might be a different story.
I stand by the comment of IF I had to choose burning in hell vs. spending time with the god of the bible, I would choose hell, cause god, according to your bible, is a sick SOB. Since he doesn't exist I really don't think I have to worry
vnorthru 2 months ago
@chicago77 So instead of providing evidence for your claims you resort to ad hominin attacks which only demonstrates you have no valid argument. So I assume the reason you believe the theory of evolution is wrong is some moron, who probably doesn't know anything about it, told you and you were too lazy to fact check the moron. By rejecting evolution and thinking those scientist are being fools, but using all the products of those same scientist you like is being a hypocrite.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@chicago77 And if you somehow think the scientist that have produced most of modern medicine do not accept evolution you are a moron. I am a scientist and work along side many of those working on improving human health and technology. Amongst my colleges there is no debate since they all accept it due to the mountain of evidence for it that includes numerous similar phylogenies, observation in nature and lab, human chromosome 2, homology in structure and genes, ERVs, mtDNA, etc.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@chicago77 As for the WTC conspiracy bs, science has not demonstrated it to be a conspiracy but actually the opposite. The conspiracy claims on this are meet with the same question I have asked you, where is your evidence? I do not accept claims without evidence and I refuse to make an exception for your particular fairy tale. If you want me to accept it, you must first provide evidence.
BTW, evolution is supported by evidence and if you have evidence against it submit to Nature
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru Do you accept the fact the EVIDENCE doesn't PROVE evolution, even if it DOES appear to SUPPORT it?
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 You have a valid point. In science we don't prove thing but we can demonstrate a theory. I personally hate the word prove and was taught not to use it in science. That being said, it does not discredit evolution. We also have not proven gravity, germ theory, atomic theory, or any other theory, we have demonstrated and supported them with evidence. I doubt you'll reject antibiotics because we haven't proven germ theory or try to fly because we haven't proven gravity
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru Don't misunderstand. I DO agree that how we translate the evidence is where the problems lie. The evidence is never wrong, but it doesn't have to mean what we think it means. Evolution might be exactly right, but I suspect the changes to be different than actually thought to be. For instance, the Pit Bull didn't evolve, but was cross bred and came to be. 3,000 years from now the fossil record will show what could appear to be a change in physiology, an evolution.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 I do agree the evidence supports evolution but dose not prove it only because I don't agree with ever using the word proved for a scientific theory. Now the reason I am cautious of saying this is because non-scientist tend to take that as if there is doubt, which for evolution there is no controversy about evolution and it is accepted by 99.9% of biologist. Looking at the evidence clearly demonstrates evolution and NOT creation. There is no way to interpret as creation
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru I'll address the impossibility of verifying what the cause of the minor changes actually result from. Two species with similar enough physiology can breed. Some times the offspring turns out incapable of reproduction. Some times it DOES have the ability to breed. That process being recognized during evolution is NOT what evolutionist enjoy advertising, though, is it? Change through breeding, not random mutation. Completely different.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 Now your example of the pit bull is flawed. Yes it was bread but that was within the same species and was selective breeding. The actual definition of evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a reproducing population. This is what breeding does, it selects certain alleles and therefore changes the allele frequencies. So technically the pit bull does show evolution. And yes we will probably see physiological changes in 3000 years
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru I think we see elements of changes over time. These changes are not the random mutations frequently promoted by science worshipers, though, are they? Instead they try to suggest that these changes merely happened with no causes or unknown causes and the crossbreeding is typically left out. It's left out because it hurts the argument, though, not because of improbability. Did the cockapoo spontaneously occur or did it come from crossbreeding? Vegetation's done this, too.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 I think you misunderstand what science really says and are going off what media has told you. Unfortunately media sucks at reporting science. I never trust media on science always do the research myself. Breeding is part of evolution, and I know of no scientist that would say otherwise. They may state that it is man driven evolution instead of nature, but it is still selecting for alleles, just like natural selection does, it's just us choosing which alleles.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru I'm thinking that you are misunderstanding my addressing of matters. People say that's what science proves and disproves. blah blah blah. I tell people that what they think science says isn't always what science says. My point is that what science IS claiming in terms of ancient creatures still doesn't prove what is thought to be proven. For all seriousness, those earliest creatures very well could have been the Creator testing the process of building new life.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 I agree that a lot of people don't understand what science says on many thing. The media does not help this. I would like to see people be more aware of science and how it works and also what we mean by demonstrated but not proved. Though when you do look at the evidence, it does not in any way indicate a creator but does support evolution. Yes there are things we don;t know, but that is why there is active research into evolution and abiogenesis.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@curtis12375 Now the idea a creator was testing only goes to show it was either drunk or just an idiot. If that was the case why is there so many "flaws" of the human body. For example the eye in cheplopods have betters eyes that we do. A lot of these "flaws" demonstrate evolution because most are do to our evolutionary history.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru I think there are misconceptions about a lot of aspects of creation, for instance the concept that genetic trending is exclusive to abiogenesis. The existence of a creator simply means the trigger to existence wasn't accidental. The assorted religions that sprang up don't have any bearing on the potential existence of a higher being.
Therefore what humans think would be better don't mean there isn't a reason for or prove that intelligent design couldn't have done it.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 Also no real scientist think evolution is just through random mutation. Mutation is an aspect but it need selection to act on it to become more prevalent, and therefore natural selection is what drives evolution. Natural selection is NOT random. Evolution is not goal driven so some may say no known cause, only because there is not end goal. It selects for advantageous traits based on environment and select against negative. Environment is really the determining factor.
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru Natural selection being personified, as in the terminology that it actively takes actions in selecting, is part of why people answer the way they do and where the discontent comes from. However, if all creatures are the same, ultimately, then there's no real answer for what causes any diversity. What purpose does diversity serve? How would it ever make any sense from a first Godcell? 1 cell becomes two, two become 4, 4 become 8, 8 become 16, etc, right? Why would that happen?
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 Genetic diversity is required for a healthy population. When a species loses genetic diversity it creates problem and if it decreases enough the species enters an extinction vortex. Natural selection is not a guided process and I do think people don't understand that and therefore it becomes personified.
I don't know all the specific for the first cell of the top and my head but multicellularity does have advantages and therefore could have been selected for
vnorthru 1 month ago
@vnorthru Evolution shouldn't be used with terms like selected or chosen. Evolution isn't a process, it's a result. And that's part of the confusion. Mutation is the process of something differing from what it's parents were on a genetic level. Evolution is the name for when these changes occur. If everything living comes from the same single ancestor, then everything is related, period. And if everything exists with no purpose then crime is survival of the fittest applied.
curtis12375 1 month ago
@curtis12375 As for crossbreeding, those that can interbreed and produce viable (i.e. fertile) offspring are of the same species (this is the biological definition of species). Most domesticated dogs, from the chihuahua to the great dane, are the same species. The variation seen is similar to the different traits seen in humans. Science doesn't say a breed of dogs spontaneous occurred but came from different alleles. I recommend looking into the real science instead of media hype.

The more I learn of the realm of science, the more I believe in God. The reason is that the more I learn of the complexities of the Universe, the more I feel our own existence just becomes less and less of a chance and more and more unlikely if we truly lived in a wholly random universe.
KingZolem 3 months ago
@KingZolem Given the vastness of the universe, the amount of matter in it, and the forces we understand to govern it, it becomes more and more clear that we (or something similar) were bound to happen, many times over :)
s5b678 3 months ago
@s5b678 Not at those odds.
KingZolem 3 months ago
@KingZolem The "complexities" of the universe come from the physical laws. Things are bound to happen when the forces are in the right balance, and these happen in extremely minute parts of the universe. Unless you've seen a million other universes with no "complexities" you have no "odds" to speak of. You can't make a measurement of 1, then calculate a probability and label it a miracle. It's like saying winning the lottery is a miracle...it's not. It can be randomness, like with the universe.

immortality, i.e. life after death declined from the 35.2% measured in

You can't explain that either! Science is just guesses and lies!

Life coming from none life depends on what you consider life to be. Is it life as we know it. Or could we say that atoms are alive in some way. Therefore it stll might be correct to say that life comes from life.
ZeusHelios 3 months ago
@ZeusHelios Your statement is equivalent to saying, "Or could we say that SAND is alive in some way."
We COULD say ANYTHING is alive in "some way". But when you say it without evidence or reasoning, or AGAINST evidence and reason, that's ALL you're doing: just SAYING it.
philhellenes 3 months ago 13
@philhellenes If you want to stick to life as we know it then OK. it therefore must come from none life that also forms stars and planets and all matter including our bodies. Or Life can be considered as something that interacts with something so atoms in a way can be said to be alive. So yes sand can be said to be alive in that way but not life as we know it to be. So the proof atoms are alive is because they interact with other things. But not life in the same way as we know it.
ZeusHelios 3 months ago
@philhellenes I think his point was Organic matter. Some things that are traditionally considered "alive" technically aren't - Virus' for example are not technically alive. Organic material is similarly not considered alive. Where do you draw the line? This confusion leads people to think there was nothing "alive" - just things like sand and rock, and then suddenly there was life. The process was in fact a lot more linear than most suspect.
Pinworm4 2 months ago
@ZeusHelios no atoms arent alive. atoms are ruled by stong and weak forces and electromagnetism. it would be like saying electricity is alive.

SuperPatrick777 5 months ago
@SuperPatrick777 Dear, just because YOU don't know the first damn thing about quantum physics doesn't mean that nobody else knows, and also, not knowing everything does not equal not knowing anything. Which is basically all your religion is, isn't it? "I don't know jack shit, so neither do you, and Goddidit." Yes, wonderful non-explanation there, Einstein. Also, don't say he doesn't know what the mind is when you clearly don't have the first clue, yourself.
paceetrate 5 months ago 30
@paceetrate We don't know = God did it
I see this argument a lot on creationist sites.

Look at it again. What's this attitude saying? "We are rational, scientific, objective, and have found the right philosophy. You are irrational, unscientific, subjective and have the wrong philosophy. I was deluded once too. Your talk of peace, but you are violent. Peace comes with atheism. So, I am going to belittle you, attack you, blame you for hate crimes and war, make fun of you, call you names and generally piss on you, because you should become an atheist, nice and reasonable like me."?
freedeanna 5 months ago
I'm starting to become sadder about the theist-bashing than I am for theists. I suspect it might do more harm than good & indicate a lack of psychological understanding. Even if it's done out of compassion, for every one who renounces religion, the scornful, belittling attitude might entrench ten deeper in it. We do that. But would you ridicule those you feel compassion for, the child with the potty monster? It might pass the hate test officially, but it's hardly a welcoming hand you hold out.
freedeanna 6 months ago
@freedeanna No, statistics show that the number of non-believers have greatly increased after the recent serge in religious criticism.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 I didn't say I felt sad about the criticism, but about theist-bashing. The increase in atheists may correspond to criticism (& vitriolic attack too), but that does not establish a causal link, although I agree it's evidence supporting that claim. I imagine that believers are swayed mostly by education in science & reasoning, & least by displays of moral laxity & poor self-control by atheists. I bet there are studies on influencing opinions with different emotional tone. Might google.
freedeanna 5 months ago
@kiemul136 ...besides, it's the principle. I'm not saying I'm never guilty, but I try to be considerate and reasonable. It seems like a betrayal of the moral position atheists could hold, when they do things they lecture believers about - emotionality, which harms our reasoning, aggression, when they blame religion for war. It's not religion, it's people failing to disagree peacefully. So-called "rationalists" name-calling at the pitiably, innocently indoctrinated. Many of us *were* religious!
freedeanna 5 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@freedeanna "I imagine that believers are swayed mostly by education in science" - It's a well known fact that most theists are extremely ignorant of science and evidence, just look at the statistics on the acceptance of evolution (40-45% in America!) I fear your approach of the "Mr. Nice guy" simply is not very effective.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@freedeanna No, as long as you'll have religious scriptures that demands the slaughter of "infidels", there will never be agreement and peace. It IS religion that alienates and segregates people. It IS religion that is the cause for harm and distress in the world: take any two predominately atheist countries like Sweden and Japan for example. Now compare the crime rates with predominately religious countries like the USA and Iraq. The harm is undeniable.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 Think. Segregation of blacks & whites in USA was down to religion, was it? The gang warfare in most urban cities? Ethnic cleansing in former Yugoslavia, Rwanda &c? Holocaust? What about the many places where religions have lived side-by-side peacefully for centuries? What about a predominantly secular West enslaving vast swathes of the globe over 100 years? Secular xenophobia slaughtering 1st Nation ppl of America? Vast majority don't interpret scriptures' demands as such.
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna Obviously religion is not the only culprit for the unrest in the countries. However, it certainly is a contending factor for one the biggest. Again, statistics show a significant correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates. The harmfulness of religion is undeniable. This is NOT my speculation; this is statistical evidence.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 I'm confident you'd find similar evidence for relative immorality of other groups by choosing to count different attributes within different data sets, body count, etc.. People argue this endlessly because they focus on different data and draw different conclusions. What is our collective cherry-picking for? To persuade others that some group of humans is bad & dangerous, but we all are, and xenophobia is the problem. The political reason for your stats is to denounce religion /cont'd
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna Are you possibly suggesting that this distinct correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates is just a coincidence?! It's not cherry picking, it's demonstrable!
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 "Are you possibly suggesting that this distinct correlation between overtly religious countries and high crime rates is just a coincidence?! It's not cherry picking, it's demonstrable!" No (although I haven't studied it so I don't know). I'm saying "Obviously religion is not the only culprit for the unrest in the countries." (or rather, you did). See how that's cherry-picking? It may be one culprit, you picked that one. Furthermore, crime rate is one data set, and there are others.
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna All I'm saying is that there is a CORRELATION. Atheists countries HAVE crime non-the-less, however, it is significantly LOWER that that of a religious country. Therefore it verifies my claim. What's so difficult to understand!
You're reduced to just appealing for other factors besides religion (which I already granted) for causing social upset though it is undeniably a contributing factor.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 I think I do understand but do clarify if I'm wrong. Your claim is a causal relationship (CR) "the harmfulness of religion" and "80% of the shit...". Your evidence, as you know, is a correlation, not a CR, but you appear to be ignoring your own facts. Here's an alternative CR: Crime in "religious countries" like USA could be higher because of aggression by atheists who also live there, and in "atheist countries" the religious just don't rock the boat. JUST an alternative to make pt.
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna Firstly the most crimes that are committed are property crimes which is a sign of distrust and unrest in society. Secondly atheists are NOT aggressive in the sense of becoming suicide bombers or flying planes into building (which is, again, a religiously motivated act), we just use words to explain things about the cosmos or evolution. Nor do we endorse slavery (unlike the church) which has greatly (along with Islamic terrorist groups) exacerbated the racism in America today.
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 For me there are a couple of things left over that might be good to clarify before I address anymore of your characterisations of human groups. 1. I said "I was appealing for respect, non-violence in word and deed. Are you arguing that we should be hateful towards the religious?" 2. Are we now in agreement that there's a difference between correlation and cause/effect? 3. Does that mean that the crime rates don't verify "the harmfulness of religion", some evidence, but not proof?
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna I've tried to back up every point that I've made with evidence. It is you that has provided nothing but claims. I recommend the book "god is not great", it provides all the evidence you'll ever need. I'm not refuting you anymore; you're tiring me out with your nonsense...
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 OK, no need to get tired. I'm pretty infuriated anyway. I have put propositions to you and asked you if you agree with them or not, trying to have a conversation. You have made the claims. They're here for anyone to read. I have just said how I feel and made some philosophical points, which you apparently can't deal with now. Maybe try to think about them later. They're important. Hitchens is way down on my reading list. Learn to think, or reading is a waste of time. Bye.
freedeanna 5 months ago
(cont')..while religious find evidence for *their* contention looking at other data. I'm drawing your attention to the common denominator, blame, antagonism, hate, xenophobia. One secular conflict proves it. I'll remind you I was appealing for respect, non-violence in word and deed. Are you arguing that we should be hateful towards the religious? You hint it with stats. Why not forgive, build connections, work for peace? How can we blame a *problem group* without being part of the problem?
freedeanna 5 months ago
@freedeanna Also to answer your questions. 1st - yes (the church supported the slavery of african immigrants). 2nd - no. 3rd - can't say for Yugoslavia, however, the ethnic cleansing in India was purely for religious reasons. 4th - yes ( he thought he was doing god's will - "My feelings as a Christian points me to... recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them"- Adolph Hitler) 5th - Examples? 6th -??? 7th - can't say...
kiemul136 5 months ago
@freedeanna Religion turns people into suicide bombers and to fly planes into skyscrapers (Al Qaeda specifically are driven by religious motives). There are countless more examples: around 80% of the shit in the world is the direct cause of religion (read "God is Not Great - How religion poisons everything" by Christopher Hitchens)
kiemul136 5 months ago
@kiemul136 "...80%..." Cherry-picking again. Even if "80% of the shit in the world" could be shown to be a "direct cause" (sic) of religion, religion might be the only thing that allowed our ancestors to survive, so you owe it your life. Religion might have inspired 90% of the greatest work up to and including the Enlightenment. Hawkins talks about the mind of god metaphorically, but that was many scientists' literal motive. I keep coming back to this video every few months for a reminder of how brilliant our existence is.
