You are mean't to kick your foot over your opposite shoulder but you try to spot the ground by looking to the side of you, and thats what gives you the twist to side making it look like a B-Kick. If you want to straighten it you'll have to spot it by lookback rather than to the side.

cheat gainers have a sort of wrap, that the kicking leg does not kick out. While the kick the moon lacks that wrap and the kicking leg sort of 'kicks the moon'. Neither is a b-kick, because b-kick's don't start form j-steps or scoots.

Its called "Kick the Moon" Cause in some languages ie. French, a gainer and cheat gainer is called "cou de pied a la lune", which means, kick the moon.

@Exile017 it's a j-step setup to an off-axis 'sault in the x-axis. The power leg traces a crescent moon shape in the air; hence 'kick the moon'.
