too bad the game wasn't as big as they made it seem. You get a map, but when you zoom out, you see how huge the world is but that map is pretty much useless, since its such a linear game. No real choices can be made, and the ending is barely effected by decisions you make
Actually, the endings are affected a lot of you think OUTSIDE of Geralt's perspective. Geralt's story itself doesn't get affected much but the Witcher universe itself changes completely depending on what choices you made. And the game's not linear at all.
@ocanator It's only linear because you move from place to place after finishing each one. The places in the game are quite big and get bigger as you go. Choices do affect the game and they come back on you later in the game. It puts Skyrim to shame in this regard and you get to know the characters a lot more.
@mistervanderveer true that, however theres good reason why alot of people do play consoles now days. not only are they cheaper which is the biggest reason but also because just about every game made now days for PC is nothing but a port from the console, sadly and unfortunately. my best friend used to be hardcore PC games but WOW got the best of him and since then hes never went back, he let it get too much time, $ and effort away from him and now the idea of PC exhausts him just thinking about
@mistervanderveer it. ive been trying to talk him out of it, and even offering him some free "subpar" hardware just to get him started again, that would still be better than the current rig he has at the moment. I was always the one that was into power hungry graphics that immerse you into the game your playing. cause otherwise, the way i see it, whats it worth playing a game without that aspect? none! but him on the other hand, like alot of console gamers, are only interested in gameplay or low
@mistervanderveer to medium graphics with a cheap price tag on it, just because they dont want to splurge every few years on a couple new pieces of hardware. but i keep telling him, and everyone else, that its worth it in the long run to go the PC route, because PC games will always be able to be played on PC, no matter what year they were made, etc. and you dont have to buy all the controllers, wires, chargers, adapters and extra gear and ALLLLL the games that will only work for that particular
@unleasheth not necessarily true, there are more than a few games that still don't play on Windows 7 and some older games that just run way too fast on newer hardware
@unleasheth well its actually a good place to have this conversation as the people who make Witcher 2 run GOG.com, who release classics designed to work on modern machines :P
@JackFury awesome, lol i hadnt even checked/heard of that website before, will have to give it a try. have been really sick the last few days with summer time cold/allergies. damn ragweed, or radiation from Japan in the Jetstream, somethings doing me wrong thats for sure. still havent finished witcher 2 because of this but hoping i can get around to it soon. also going through pain medicine withdrawals at the moment too sooo....yea it kinda sucks hard right now for me
@unleasheth GOG.com is amazing, I bought my witcher 2 on there(quad core, 8gb ram, geforce gtx 550 ti and I STILL cant run it smoothly on ultra :O) only cost £24.99
but they sepcialise in old games like Baldurs Gate and Planescape except the mod them to run on modern windows, no DRM either
@JackFury awesome, i see your from UK, so i take it GOG is more than likely European as well, no offense about the Euro inclusion of your country, i hear England gets offended by that, even though they are part of the EU, nevertheless heres what i run and so far i have very very little trouble out of it, there are plenty of better systems out there but this one does the trick for me:
@PsycoCruser not much anymore, you could actually play games with much lower hardware at pretty decent frames per second i just had to be too picky in my recent past. im just not all that much into it anymore. i used to revolve my life around hardware and gaming but its not worth it bro, itll suck you in. Its nice to have nice things but .....its just not worth it sometimes cause where does it ever end ya know? It kind of never does so i said f it lol. theres more to life than materialism
@PsycoCruser with all that said, i wish you the best my friend and i hope you dont get pulled in to credit card debt and many wasted years on games like WOW lol, these are the tools of the devil we are dealing with you understand right? computers can be good but they are going way too far with some of these games and they will subconsciously mess with you especially if you like extreme immersion in your games like i did. the devil doesnt want you to stop playing or buying hardware he wants you
@PsycoCruser to play your guts out and never be satisfied with what you have. (personal experience). i dont know bro sorry if thats all too much to bear in mind but i just see so many things changing in this world and i want my heart right with the Lord. Best wishes in your computing/gaming and hardware search. Dont let it get the best of ya
@JackFury --Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, btw good price on your witcher 2 game, thats like 30 something dollars here, yea thats a good deal for sure
@mistervanderveer system and then a few years later...BAM!, gotta start all over again with a new system. so then you gotta go to Gamestop or Ebay and sell all the old stuff for a way cheaper price, take the lose, then go out and purchase all the newer stuff, i did that over and over and over growing up and those days are gone now. I bought the PS3 and thats the last console ill ever buy. As long as PC keeps it up I will support them, even if i have to deal with crappy ports its still better on
@mistervanderveer the PC with med graphics than on the console with what they call "high" graphics lols. And of course on the PC with high graphics.....well.....theres just no comparison. The only thing im not able to run on Witcher to is Ubersampling, but everything else is cranked up as far as she will go, including the graphics on the 5870 2GB CCC
@totaltwister retarded troll is retarded. Did you read any of the books? At least played the first game? Exactly. This game is very unique and nonlinear, I think you meant to comment on dragon age or something, not this.
Totally agree there. The Witcher 2 and Skyrim are made with so much care, enthusiasm, professionalism and love. They look amazing based on the videos so far and I'm pretty sure they are/will be. DA 2, hmm... God I loved the first one so madly. Now I'm pissed so badly, even the beer tastes more bitter after that one. Complete waste of time and money. I hope at least ME 3 will bring the expected quality and details.
