I would say the same but it is an optical illusion by the way the eye captures motion and the brain processes said motion... The recoil is still so fast even in the slow motion video that your brain associates the trigger squeeze and the recoil as one motion. That most I could tell from the shot is that there might be some dragging of wood but I will not say definitely because it is hard to impossible to tell from the camera angle.
is the second range you are at called a place to shoot? off the 14 in socal? i thought that targert was 417 yards? oh well good job with my enfield standing off had i can hit it 50% of the time good job!! though
same. went out yesterday at 600 yards with the standerd sights and got a couple bullseyes. didn't hit much after that. fuckin wind kicked in and took my bullets all over the place.
Love the Karbinier Gewher Mauser 98... Its a very good rifle the wehermacht used... I myself learned about them alot and whant one... I would like to get a traditional scope mount for it... The one with the T sites...
yea, there is another movie he does shots from the same distance with a springfield 03, except he doesent use a scope XD and he hits the target, same guy. its awesome
This may have been asked already, but what is the condition of the bore on that rifle? My experience with military bores is that so long as the barrels don't accumulate brass, they still shoot quite accurately even when a bit dark and far less than perfect.
Haha 88 ratings. What a coincidence. This is a good rifle to have know-it-alls who actually don't know their ass from their elbow about guns shoot. They're like "oh yeah I pwn with a Kar98K in call of duty this is gonna be easy" and then they go to shoot it and realize. Even better is after that you can punch their sore shoulder and say "still playin' call of duty!?"
great shooting...i have a mauser and when i pull the bolt back after fireing it does not seem to eject the case very well,it kind off just drops out now..what part do you think is worn...thanks again for the vid and any advice
How much $ to scope your Mauser and bolt modification? I have an un-used M48A I would like to do that to. & learn some reloading skills on that caliber. Good to see someone shooting a Mauser that far!!
Nice to see A Place to Shoot again. I unfortunately moved out of state, but I used to go their all the time. I hit the 420 yd target at the top of the hill a couple times with my M91/30 and No 4 Mk 1 Lee Enfield. I just got a Mitchell's Mauser K98k and love it, just wish I could use it on that range! Anyway, nice vid and nice rifle! I like how you can see the bullet manipulating the air like that! Where do you get your ammo? I'm stuck with the Remington Core Lokt, their has to be cheaper...
Nice camera. If you watch carefully at 2:04, you can even see - for a short moment - the bullet changing the refractive index of the air in its near surrounding
Rock solid. It is not the rifle, but the rifleman. Few things are more satisfying than the delayed sound of a bullet smacking into something over 500 yds out. Can't wait to have my 98 scoped out.
i notice the stock is thinner then the Russian captured ones of seen but its made out of solid wood and not plywood or "laminated" wood, its much lighter probably cuz of that and the metal ring thing used to take apart the bolt isn't incorporated into the stock
depending on what caliber it is its great fot deer hunting, and if its to high of a caliber then get a lee enfield (303 britishbolt) its a great gun fot allround hunting
A Mauser K98 will put down a dear no problem. I'd take mine bear hunting if I were so inclined. They're extremely accurate rifles, and they're still a great deal.
sorry for all my questions but how would i know if the barrel was shot out on my mauser? it dose not seem to group well at all, i shot it at 50 yards with a bench rest and put 3 rounds on the page but my enfield put an entire box =(
and also is it okay for the primer to be sticking out a tiny bit after firing? i know these arent the correct bolts so i was wondering if that was okay
would u recommend using hot loads through these guns? i mean with the age and varying conditions of the rifles, not to mention miss matched parts would it be a good idea to push the maximum loads?
1 of 2 No, not really, meaning, I dont like recommending hot loads for other people. As far as my rifle, I am aware of how the receiver/bolt sync together, & I feel confident with the loads I shoot through it, I have no worry about it disintegrating. But others will ask what loads Im shooting and Im uncomfortable providing my load info, not that Im uninterested in helping, I just dont know their rifle, and Im not interested in taking responsibility for them blowing their face up.
2 of 3 A better example of what Im talking about is with my videos of my 91/30 Russian sniper rifles, read some of the comments. I think you would have to load a Mauser with C4 to blow the receiver, but with the 91.30 dont think it would take that much. Many people, unfamiliar with reloading, after reading that I use .308 projectiles in the Russian 91/30, have tried to fire .308 NATO bullets through their 91/30 rifles.
3 of 3 That is an extreme example but captures how some people think, primarily those unfamiliar with hand loading. Im more than happy to help someone already familiar with hand loading, but I do not wish to teach someone from the ground up nor am I I willing to accept the responsibility of someone who is unfamiliar with hand loading kill themselves or destroying their rifle.
completely understandable i wouldn't want to be burdened with that kind of responsibility either
thank you anyway though
i do hand load but i dont think i want to go to the trouble of of all that is required with making hot loads for this rifle, and i dont want to blow my face off either =p
hmm hows the bore on ur rc? mine has pitting and at 100 yards dose not group to well and the bullets go to the left. any tips (im using iron sights* i haven't cleaned the barrel since i got it with anything but a wire rod (i only put maybe half a box of Remington ammo through it)any so should i use the solvents first? oh i in boxed u a wile back with sum questions, just didn't know if u got em or not
whats your favorite old rifle u have byw? i see u got alot of em, im guessing its not ur arisaka but what about of all your bolt actions? just curious
i love ur sprinfeild but ur mauser is nice too, although since i have one i guess id say next im really jheleous of ur smle (i have a no4 mk1* savage) then ur nagant =)
My Lee Enfield No.1 Mk III is the most fun to shoot, It just seems like the perfect rifle to me, everything about it is nice. And 2nd would be the 91.30s, and third the Garands. :-)
what u need is a girlfriend =P im kidding ur an AMAZING shot id love to shoot that good but wouldn't wanna dedicate the time (im a lazy fuck i know) is that Russian captured?
These old rifles hold their own don't they. I love my Mausers, and after seeing your Nagants I started building my own scoped 91/30. Going to use modern Russian optics on it though. Leaving the stock and everything else stock.
Very nice shooting, though I don't know much about shooting with scopes like these, I did shoot a lot with the G36 when I served in the army and shooting at 500m was already quite hard, resulting in a 50% hit ratio. So, respect my friend. =)
Fuck the ZF41 Scope, with modern optics, it brings these surplus rifles out to their true performance levels. Just keep the rest of the rifle as is and that's all that matters. You can remove a scope when ever you want.
HI,I have a mauser m48, I want to put a scope on it but is hard to find a good gunsmith here, so I want to ask you how much you pay and where did you took it to get it fix. I ask this 'cause I live in sanfernando valley and recognized you film this video at 'aplace to shoot' shooting range right?
hey is not sure what kind of rifle do you have but the m48 is made in yugoslavia and is a copy of mauser.if it is a german mauser 98 you are a lucky man, but a yugo m48 is very good.dont take it personaly because you know better than me what kind of rifle do you have, have nice shooting with it.
not bad, but you should use an original scope. then even if you hit then you are a real 98k sniper. One Shot One Kill. I would like to see how your hits.
Thanks, but do you have any idea how much a authentic WWII era German scope and mount would cost though? between $1500 and $2000. When I can afford it I will. But thanks!
I've said it on your other video with the 91/30 nagant and i'll say it here again, great shots and i like how you can see the bullet's "wake" as it cuts through the air. awesome.
What is better at accuracy mosin nagant or k98?

Very nice shooting, though I don't know much about shooting with scopes like these, I did shoot a lot with the G36 when I served in the army and shooting at 500m was already quite hard, resulting in a 50% hit ratio. So, respect my friend. =)

you could actually see shot 3 fly through the air
jubbles2343 3 years ago

That's not the Sniper rifle and ZF41 Zeiss scope, or mount.
Someone's stuck that scope on it.

That is why I wrote in the comment, to the left of the video, "It is an original 1941 K98 German Mauser with a modern scope."
And if you took the time to read the comments, I make it very clear.
I'm clueless where you got the impression that I'm alleging that this rifle has a ZF41 Zeiss scope and mount.

very very nice rifle, i would like to have one of these

Fuck the ZF41 Scope, with modern optics, it brings these surplus rifles out to their true performance levels. Just keep the rest of the rifle as is and that's all that matters. You can remove a scope when ever you want.

so how much bullet drop and windage was there?

Hello!
I m a german! ;) (plz excuse my bad english)
okay my question is, do you use 8x57 IS or Winchester .308! i mean is it a new, we said in german "Lauf" or is it the original 8x57 IS?
AmonGoeth88 3 years ago
I use the 8x57. Thanks!
mag30th 3 years ago
thx! i love 8x57! nice hunting caliber!
AmonGoeth88 3 years ago
not bad, but you should use an original scope. then even if you hit then you are a real 98k sniper. One Shot One Kill. I would like to see how your hits.
MDrebellion 3 years ago
Thanks, but do you have any idea how much a authentic WWII era German scope and mount would cost though? between $1500 and $2000. When I can afford it I will. But thanks!
mag30th 3 years ago
what kind of mounts and scope did you use.... I have a 1940 Mauser i want to put a scope on.
Bandito8487 3 years ago
The scopes that I'm using on this rifle (and my 300 Weatherby) are the Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 Rifle Matte Mil Dot 755154M.
