  • Yeah, but how many virgins do I get? Your competitor is offering 72.

  • Being an atheist i think it's all nonsense

  • I love how Christians believe the Earth was created 6000 years ago, it just makes me laugh how stupid that is hahahaha

  • @CameronJohnMidgley - some believe what men say, some believe what God says. The reality is that we all rest on someone else's authority. Your authority changes every week - one week scientists say one thing and the next they say something different. The best scientifically informed folks of 70 years ago are now "stupid" - similarly, you'll be "stupid" in another 40 years. Christians believe the Bible, which has not changed and rest in the authority of Almighty God, which is unimpeachable.

  • @prussictim Show me proof that God exists, show me something! anything! oh wait... there is none.. anywhere.... theres just people that say "I saw god in a vision" or someshit like that

  • @CameronJohnMidgley - that you are, are able to ask a question, and (presumably) reason all constitute proofs of God. In reality, facts fit into a framework or else they have no meaning. Your atheistic framework is UNABLE to give meaning to anything. Christianity provides a framework that gives the meaning that you assume all day everyday. Simply speaking, you undercut you own position simply by your own existence, not to mention your inquiry. Praise God for that! Stop warring against God.

  • @prussictim Alright buddy explain this, theirs nothing in the Bible about Dinosaurs, yet their is evidence EVERYWHERE that proves they walked the earth more than Two hundred billion years ago. your move.

  • @CameronJohnMidgley there's nothing in the Bible about Volkswagens, yet there's evidence EVERYWHERE that proves they're on roads all over the world. Also, by the way, the are references to dinosaur-like creatures in the Bible.

Again, you pose an argument. You suppose there is logic, do you? You suppose there is a uniformity of nature so that scientific inquiry is even possible, do you? Cameron, how (on your atheistic worldview) can you possibly account for logic and the uniformity of nature?

  • @ Why the fuck are you talking about Volkswagens!? you are an idiotic narrow minded retard.

  • @CameronJohnMidgley - thanks, Cameron. You're a nice person. I'll try to explain: You intimated that the Bible said nothing about Dinosaurs, but that evidence of them can be seen. I countered with the VW, as the same thing is true - the Bible says nothing of them, but evidence of them can be seen. Arguing by analogy, I as trying to show that your point is NOT a point at all. There are hundreds of thousands of things that exist that the Bible doesn't talk about... so what?! Now, try to be nice.

  • I appreciate god sacrificing himself to himself in order to circumvent the rules he himself created. That's real love. I appreciate him creating evil people to send to hell because without them who will I feel better than. That's real love. I appreciate him making the Bible seem wrong in order to trick people into going to hell. That's real love. Most of all I appreciate him making eating shellfish a sin punishable by death because that stuff smells so gross. That's real love.

  • if god made everything, them why does he hate a load of people?? =/

  • That's actually not the ancient or biblical version. The Holy Spirit only proceeds from the Father, unless you think the Bible's incomplete and want to take the Pope's word for it.

  • @meerkatman22 if they are not really good at heart. That is why we need a saviour. God sent His son to suffer & die on the cross for us. we broke God's law, but JESUS paid our fine. John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son. that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." then He rose from the dead and defeated death. We need to repent from our sins and accept Jesus and everlasting life which can only be recieved through Him.

  • @meerkatman22 Have you ever lied? Stolen? Been so angry with someone that you hate them? (which Jesus taught was the same as murder). I'm sure you have, who hasn't? Therefore, becuase we have all sinned, even if it is "small", we cannot be in the presence of God because He sees you as a lying, thieving, murderer at heart. This emphasizes just how pure and holy God is. The bible teaches that every man is a sinner and not one is righteous or "good". So He cannot let ALL the "good" people in heaven

  • I just think it's wrong to send good people to hell JUST BECAUSE they were raised different and not christians or had bad parents who never taught them any religion at all..I believe if god truely loves us he'd let ALL the good people in heaven..because why should heroes and nice ordinary people suffer eternally and something that has no defininte proof?

  • Christians are confused but can't admit it. There is one God but he's in 3 parts all with a personality, all did different tasks, but they're 1 complete god?...a God that Begets himself?...what's the purpose in that?...a God who becomes man, the man who is God but prays to himself on the cross?...The son who is also 1 God dies for the sins of man?...but if he's God then what's the purpose of 'dying' when God doesn't die. But Christians believe Jesus aka son of God died for their sins but lives

  • well thats 50% of what it taked 2 b a Christian. Accept this: accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit will come to fill your soul. Then & only then r u a Christian. No more or less. +/- isnt 2 blieve or recieve. Ah, "catholic" b4 there was the "roman" catholic hcurch the whole church was called catholic. Catholic means "universal". In that contxt it is acceptable by all who believe in that txt. Orhodox, RC, Episcopal, methodist etc (all prote). U dont blieve, u dont have, sorry u aint a christian.

  • Praying to Mary is a useless practice. In my chruch we pray to God in Jesus' name.

  • @1954phyllis How is asking Mary to pray for us useless? When we pray to Mary, we are asking her to pray for us. I fail to see how asking someone as holy as her to pray for us to be useless. Indeed, may she pray for you! In my parish, we pray to God as well. We can pray to God the Father, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit though. We don't have to direct our prayers directly to the Father through Jesus only. Why should anyone? The entire Trinity is one God, not just the Father or Jesus.

  • @1954phyllis If praying to Mary is really all that useless then how do you account for the NUMEROUS miracles and such that have happened after someone asked her for her prayers?

  • @Holly3278 It isn't in Mary's power to perform miracles. God is the only one that can perform miracles so that definitely leaves out Mary.

  • @1954phyllis And what proof of this do you have for me? Did not the Apostles perform miracles in the New Testament? If the Apostles could perform miracles then why not Mary?

  • @Holly3278 As they shout on "Family Feud"--Good answer! Good Answer!

  • I have 3 questions for you.

    1. Do you believe what Jesus said in John 14:11?

    2. Do you believe Jesus is the Father?

    3. Do you believe GOD is all wise and gave us the bible to teach us?

  • @markpaghi Answers: 1. Yes, I believe everything that the Bible says. 2. Admittedly I am no expert on Trinitarian theology but I lean towards a no on this one. 3. Yes, I believe that God is all wise and that He gave us the Bible. However, I believe He also gave us the Church to teach us what the Bible really means. If we are really meant to privately interpret Scripture for ourselves then how do you account for the millions of different interpretations of a single passage?

  • Christians lives in their own world, because they are feared by the real world

    wake up neo...

  • @DonSair20

    Alhamdulillah!

    [prase be to God!]

  • Muhammed was a pedophile!

  • Amen Amen Amen

  • How can an human be God or a part of him?, If, how can God be hungry and thirsty?

If Jesus was a part or was God then why did he prayed to God?

Jesus was just a prophet, and Jesus prophezised Muhammed.

    Look at: John 15:26

who was yet to come? the third part or the trinity or Muhammad?, it could not be the third part of trinity because it has always been with us(the chapter if Luke)

And who came after Jesus?, yes Muhammad:)

  • @Welle92 I share the same thinking!

  • @Welle92 Jesus was God in the flesh, He was not just a prophet, He did not prophecy Muhammed. Believe me I know because I have read the Bible. Muhammed was a false prophet. You have blasphemed God. Jesus is God the Son. You are a liar. Oh by the way, Jesus was praying to God the Father, there is nothing strange about that.

  • @1954phyllis

God said to Moses that he would raise up a prophet from among their brethren, and he would be like Moses. (deut 18:18) so this can clearly not be Jesus, why? because you say that Jesus is God!, and the prophet to come would be from the brethren of Moses( I.e the brethren of the Jews(Isaac) wich is the Arabs(Ishmael)

Yes indeed Muhammad has been predicted in the bible many times!, i have blaspheme God? i believe in ONE God, while you believe in 1+1+1=3! 3 Gods! pagan worshipper...

  • @Welle92 Wrong! Jesus is God the Son. You haven't read much of the Bible have you? No Muhammad has not been mentioned in the Bible. Ishmael was the son of Abraham and a servant girl. Isaac is the half brother of Ishmael, since Isaac and Ishmael had the same dad. You are again in error. How can Isaace be two people?

  • @1954phyllis Son of God in hebrew means the same as servant..

the jews has fabricated this verse.. isaac and abraham was brother! not half brothers. God said that the prophet to come would be from among the brethren of the jews(deut 18:18) the brethren is ishmael. and Jesus could not have been this prophet. because God says in deut 34:10, that since then a prophet like Moses has never risen in Israel. there are maaany other verses wich predict Muhammad as a servant, his battles, his emigration

  • @Welle92 You couldn't be more wrong. Jesus is the second person of the Godhead. He was not God's servant. No Abraham and Isaac were not brothers. Isaac was the son of Abraham. Ishmael was one of the sons of Abraham. The Bible does not mention any thing about Muhammad. You are a liar.

  • christianity has killed more people than hitler, i hope you know that, and he was christian too

  • And Hitler was also "a vegetarian" and a non-smoker! HELP!

  • hi there. peace be with u. i think if u read ur bible(i dont know which bible u have!)carefully u will find the real truth. all u have to do is that u use ur mind and heart. plz dont follow blindly. make sure u know in what u should believe. thanx. tc

  • @RVqueen Hitler also only had one testicle

  • @RVqueen

sue "he was" (i get your point, i know he was not a non-smoker and a veggie but i get your point).

YET, he NEVER killed nobody in the name of vegetarians or non-smokers. he did believed that jehova was giving him some divine right to kill the jews, and that some god created the aryan race as the "perfect race". therefore stating that hitler was a christian has weight (relevance).

if you don't agree, you can fuck off =D

  • @slayer666metalgods No true Christians have not killed more people than Hitler.

  • @1954phyllis Rome killing off pagans. medieval Europe killing Jews , Muslims ,the mentally challenged, pagans, atheist, and anybody who separated from the catholic church! Then when the protestant reformation began, catholics and protestants killed each other. Throughout the world afterward, many non whites were enslaved in the belief to white, CHRISTIAN, races were superior. Once that ended, blacks were lynched on the same views, and we all know about the holocaust. Point proven.

  • The Holy Spirit proceeds from the FATHER. Not the son.

  • I don't think God wants us to argue this...just live out the faith! peace... :-)

  • He proceeds from both in different creeds and this creed has bits missed out.

  • god bless

    roman catholic

  • Amen!!!!

  • you forgot some things

    talking snake

    talking bush

    sand man

    rib woman

    XD

  • You forgot the part where it's allegory for the human experience.

  • Comment removed

  • True, but a literal interpretation of the Old Testament is not what the Nicene Creed professes.

  • @rayruiz12345 And you have forgotten one major thing and that is with God all things are possible. You have forgotten that it was the devil that spoke to Eve through the snake. The bush was on fire but it didnt burn, it was God that spoke to Moses, Man was made from the dust of the earth. God created the first woman from the rib of the first man. You have forgotten that God can do anything He chooses to because He is all powerful.

  • See this is why i feel bad for christians... like i understand that its a good feeling to know your safe after death and stuff because i was a christian before. But you guys just gotta realize that its fake and theres more to life then fairy tales....

  • I'm an atheist converted christian. Safety after death has nothing to do with it for me--it's about helping people on earth.

  • one god? what about the father the holly ghost and the son who should i pick ?

this is joke! your god has family?

please show some respect to the name "god"

god is above this myth...god is unlike everything would come to your mind

    he is "god"

  • It is a bold statement to suggest there is no higher reality besides the natural world. To suggest there is no god is like the circle in 2D land denying there is a third dimension.

The evidence for God is overwhelming. Just examine the complexity of cells or the extreme improbability for life to have formed on Earth. If you are reasonable, it is obvious that life could not have spontaneously developed by natural processes. Whether or not the Nicene creed describes him is a matter of faith.

  • Correction: Not all Christians believe that, especially the ones who *actually* follow Christ. God Bless!

  • Corruption

  • depends

in the first place: why would you be "good" if you don't believe in God? why is something considered "good" or "bad"?

    Your conscience.

And THAT my friend is from God =)

He's helping you to live a "good" life, a life that leads down the right path. I know this may sound like im trying to enforce religion on you and stuff, and i totally understand. Maybe try to find out more about God and "if" He exists for yourself.

Just keep in mind the bias behind whatevr your reading =)

    God Bless!

  • I 've just watched again 'The name of the rose' before commenting here. I'm totally ignorant about religion but I consider religion to be the 'big brother' of the previous centuries. I genuinely enjoy all knowledges on the net and I'm still stunned that people continue believing non-sense

  • can everyone claim to be the son of God coz everyone is goin to die and everybody will be resurrected same like Jesus(PBUH).. does that mean everybody is a son of God??? how can u believe in a God which is born just like me (but without male intervention like Adam(PBUH) who neither had a dad nor mom(is he another son of God?)) and did watever I do(I can also do miralces if God wills same as Jesus said I can do of my own nothing).. will u worship someone who never claimed to be a God?

  • We still have to be good though! Even Demons beilieve.

  • RVqueen, you will still probably go Hell yes, poo as that sounds. but God is 100% perfect and we are far from it, by his grace and our faith he may/will grant us eternal life, on the day of judgment why would he want to spend eternity with someone who doesn't even acknowledge him? Despite how 'good' we may have been as Humans separated from god, but not repenting and turning to him.

  • I will? Are you opposed to this creed because it doesn't mention faith or grace or repentance? It's not about the goodness of anyone but GOD and the Lord Jesus. It is a declaration of faith in GOD's work, not man's. But really, this is just a creed, it didn't come from me, and I'm not saying it encompasses all I believe.

  • I know I've never had any sins...

  • Just a question... if I don't fully belive in god and i don't go to church and he turns out to be real... but I lived a good lif and never did anything to wrong... will I go to heaven or not?

  • Have you really never done anything wrong?

  • not realy possible, especially if you look at it that way.

  • Well, God is the one who chooses whether someone will go to hell or not, not us.

  • @AbriannaPeto my friend if you would live 1 miljon years old

doing anything from helping the sick en homeless

not commiting adultary-lying-anger-jalousy-murder-not showing off youre pride

en still if you denie christ ore god YOU ARE ALREADY JUDGED UPPON

en will burn in hell till the end of all times

its teh truth may bee a bit hard BUT ITS GODS RULE

  • @AbriannaPeto You are not under the wrath of GOD because you do not believe in Him, you are under his wrath because of your willful Sin Against Him. But if you wish to be forgiven, you must believe GOD exists and he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The wicked will not inherit the kingdom of GOD, only the pure in heart will see GOD. My friend, you do not have to go to church to know GOD - In Fact, I would suggest staying out of Modern Churches if you Seek to know GOD.

  • @AbriannaPeto

we are all born sinners and there is none good no, not one. (it says that in the Bible) & no, you will not go to heaven.

  • @AbriannaPeto

we are all born sinners and there is none good no, not one. (it says that in the Bible) & no, you will not go to heaven.

  • Rayna, this is a gorgeous piece of music, and most fitting for the subject. We recited the Apostle's Creed in Mass as I was growing up, which has many similarities to the Nicene. I don't believe it's mere coincidence that when my soul is stirred by God (ie.,by this music), in my mind I return to the time of my youth when my faith began in it's purest form, as Jesus said, 'like that of a child'. I believe we perceive God best in such a state of consciousness, because we are the most receptive.

  • The ancient, holy, Catholic and Apostolic faith, once for all delivered unto the saints, is nicely and beautifully summarized here in the Nicene Creed. Every Christian should memorize it!

  • Christian belivers dont believe in Catholic church!

    Catolic christian believers do.

There are other christians in the world except catholic...

  • The original Greek-derived meaning of "catholic" means universal, or the Church in general, not Roman Catholic specifically. Usually, when it is uncapitalized it is meant in this way and has nothing to do with the Roman Catholicism.

  • you religious people scare the f*ck outta me

  • you atheist people scare the **** out of me

  • Then I guess you were hiding under a rock the day 9/11 happened.

  • Praise the Gourd! Follow the Gourd! The Holy Gourd of Jerusalem!

No! Hold up the sandal, as He has commanded us!

Take the shoes and follow Him!

...all ye who call yourself Gourdenes!

  • jeez man, calm down

You don't have to take every thing in the bible seriously you know, it was written like 2000 years ago

  • Some of it is older and some younger. But when this creed was originally written, the New Testament was only about 200 years old.

  • you are all psycho.

  • You can watch, listen, read these testimonies of people WHO WERE IN HEAVEN AND/OR HELL HERE: w w w .spiritlessons. c o m

  • Worshippers of Mary: KNOW this: Mary is crying about what you are doing! One testimony of people who went to heaven, said he saw Mary crying for this very reason! GOD HAS NO MOTHER! Mary was only the mother of Jesus Christ in His humanity. When that role was finished, Jesus told John: Behold your mother, and Mary: Behold your son!

  • Correction: Wonderfull video! Important Creed! AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!

  • Wonderfull video! Important CRed! AND BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!

  • Very beautiful proclaimation of our faith in God, in a very beautiful video, set to a very beautiful sunset!

  • a very nice video

  • Hail Mary full of grace, the lord is with you,Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners, now and at the our of our death amen..

  • Je l'avais oublié en anglais

J'aimerais le "Notre Père"maintenant "Our Father..."

    Thanks

  • Yes, praise GOD! What a beautiful faith He has given us.

  • Youre right except in the Catholic church dont see that anywhere in the bible.

  • Amen!

    It is so!

    Excellent video.

  • Nice video!

    Peace and God bless.

    Sandy

  • This is beautiful. I love the Nicene Creed, and all that it stands for. The video and the music demonstrate it in a glorious light.

  • Great Vid, the music was outstanding.

  • You can download the songs by this Choir at Amazon, "Kyiv Chamber Choir" I love it!

  • I believe the choir is also singing the words of the Nicene Creed in Russian... so lovely!

  • Why would you believe the Kyiv Chamber Choir would be praying in Russian instead of Ukrainian? Kyiv is the Ukrainian capital where Christendom was established in 988 before Moscow was established.

  • Because I think that Archangelsky composed in Russian.

  • Why would you believe the Kyiv Chamber Choir would be singing in Russian? Kyiv the capital of Ukraine became part of Christendom in 988 before Moscow was founded.

  • I like all your videos, and i think this is actually your coolest so far... but if you would have put in actual bible quotes, it would have been WAY better (-:

  • Thank you Manu! This one is certainly my most beautiful video to me as well. (I can't stand to watch the videos of myself talking, but sometimes that is the only way to say things!) The text isn't Bible verses, but rather the doctrines that almost every Christian church in the world has believed, showing agreement in the interpretation of the Bible.

  • Thank you.

  • "We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ"

I know what you mean, but if you say Jesus Christ is the only Lord you believe in... well aren't there at least two, as you would certainly regard his father as the Lord as well. They aren't the same person. Actually for Catholics there are even 3, as they believe in St. Mary as well and also pray to her.

  • Actually, the Nicene Creed (which is what this is) is a Catholic document. Catholics only believe in one God, but through a very complicated concept called the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

  • Catholics do not believe Mary is God, but rather that she was born without sin and retained sinlessness through out her life, thus allowing her to give birth to Yeshua (the untransleted name of Jesus). As far as prayering to her (or any of the Saints), that is a different kind of prayer called an intercession, which is sort of like asking a friend to pray with you, only a friend who is really close with God ("When ever two more are gathered in my name...").

  • Also, "Lord" in Old English translates to "loaf bearer" so there saying Jesus is the "One Lord" is saying he is the only one who can bring "the bread of God" or salvation.

  • Ian, thank you for sharing that insight!

It is not only Catholics, but also Orthodox and Protestants who agree with the Nicene creed.

  • Protestants believe that Mary was a sinner like all women, and did not necessarily remain a virgin after Jesus' birth. In many such specifics the Churches differ, and individuals differ, but our basic beliefs such as those expressed in the Nicene Creed are widely agreed upon. In the End we will all be glad to know the Truth about everything and all agree on everything!

  • Mary was "full of grace" before she was even born. That makes her completely sinnless.

She remained a virgin after Jesus was born. Jesus does not have any biological brothers. Since there is no word for cousin they used "brother" to name the "kinsmen" of Jesus Christ. They are from Joseph's side of the family because Mary was an only child.

  • So youre going to pray with mary when she isnt next to you because she is dead. The point of that scripture was to make sure you brother a live human can say wether it is right what you are praying for or wrong.

  • It's not a Catholic document, it's a Christian document. It was put together before there was even a Roman Catholic Church.

    Roman Catholics changed the Creed!

  • The Roman Catholic Church is the Church Christ started when He built His Church on the "rock", St. Peter, who subsequently moved to Rome since that was the center of civilization. Read Ignatius, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, or any of the Church fathers. You'll find that they were awfully Catholic in their beliefs--they shared the same beliefs and the same celebration of the Eucharists as today's Catholics. The Catholic Church gave us the Nicene Creed and the Bible. Research before posting.

  • @WorkingCatholic Did you know that St Peter was never a Catholic? Rome is not the center of civlization, the Garden of Eden was near the Euphartes river. Did you know that the Roman Catholics in the past have killed millions of born again Christians? The Jews were the ones that wrote the Bible under the inspiration of God.

  • @1954phyllis "The Jews were the ones that wrote the Bible under the inspiration of God."

Are you speaking of the OT? I wouldn't describe the NT authors as Jewish though most were born Jewish (and, in the case of Peter, yes, he remained Jewish.) Paul, who wrote more of the NT than anyone, was definitely a convert. The canon of the NT wasn't determined by the Catholic Church until until AD 397 when she finally determined which of hundreds of books were the inspired word of God.

  • @WorkingCatholic None of the Bible was written by Catholics. Peter was never a catholic. I believe you need to read the Bible, The Bible is definitely the inspired Word of God.

  • @1954phyllis For the first 1500 years of the Church, all Christians were Catholics. Christ never promised us a Book, but he promised us an authoritative Church. By declaring that the Bible is the inspired word of God, you are accepting the infallibility of the Catholic Church, since it was the Catholic Church that determined what books were in and what books were excluded. How do you know the Gospel of Mark is in but the Gospel of Thomas is not? The Roman Catholic Church made that decision.

  • @WorkingCatholic No Christians were never Catholics. Cathoilism is nothing but a false religion. If Catholics were really Christians they would never have killed the Christians. Yes the Bible is the inspired Word of God.No it was the Jews that wrote all of the Bible the Catholics had nothing to do with it. I know that the Gospel of Mark was really written by Mark. If it was really the gospel of Thomas then it would have said it was. Remember that catholism is nothing but a cult.

  • @1954phyllis You're god is fake, but your bigotry and arrogance are real.

  • @whiteyvanpeebles Hi whitey whatcha doing? My God is not a fake. Honestly I am not a bigot nor am I arrogant.

  • @1954phyllis Are you joking??? You're one of the most bigoted idiots I've ever come across on Youtube! I mean, seriously, just because Catholics have different practices than you doesn't mean they are idol worshiping pagans as you would have us believe!

  • @Holly3278 I would like to ask you some questions please. Why do Catholics have the need to pray to Mary instead of Jesus? Mary can't save anyone. Yes she was a very blessed woman, but she was in need of a Saviour just like the rest of us. Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest when you can go straigtht to Jesus? Why are prayer beads necessary?

  • @1954phyllis We DO NOT have a "need" to pray to Mary instead of Jesus. We choose to do so because Mary is a very good intercessor for us. And yes, we know that Mary can't save anyone. As for confessing our sins to a priest, we do this because that is what the Bible commands us. Again, look at the Catholic Answers article on Confession. You might also look at a website called Scripture Catholic. And also, prayer beads are NOT necessary, they are beneficial.

  • @Holly3278 Praying to Mary is very useless. She can no nothing for you. She is not an intercessor between God and man. Jesus is though because He is God the Son. No actually the Bible does not command us to confess our sins to a priest. Neither does it tell us to worship a man that has made himself to be God upon this earth. How on this earth are a bunch of beads beneficial. Jesus died for our sins, Mary sure didnt.

  • @1954phyllis Do you have proof that she is not an intercessor? Somehow I don't think you do. However, I have the evidence of many of the earliest Christians AND the Bible that she IS an intercessor along with many other saints! See my next comment for the Scripture since it won't fit here.

  • @Holly3278 Yes I have proof that Mary is not an intercessor. You don't get it do you those saints that you pray to were just like us. They're not God and they have no special powers. "Fro there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."1 Timothy 2:5

  • @1954phyllis You do understand the difference between an intercessor and a mediator, don't you?

Have you ever told someone that you would pray for them. If so, weren't you an intercessor? It is the same for Catholics when we ask Mary or other saints to pray for us.

When Mary asked Jesus to help out at the wedding feast at Cana, Jesus protested, “My hour has not yet come,” and yet He was persuaded to do Mary’s will. Jesus listened to and obeyed Mary, so who better to intercede on our behalf?

  • @WorkingCatholic I'd like to explain something to you if i may. Mary is not God and she never will be. Jesus did what He did for Mary because she was His earthly mother and He loved her. To pray to Mary is utterly ridiculous and a total waste of time. Why should you pray to Mary when you can go start to Jesus.

  • @1954phyllis I've stated several times that we do not worship Mary nor consider her a goddess. Why are you stuck on this. Whatever you've been told is simply false.

You wrote, "To pray to Mary is utterly ridiculous and a total waste of time."

Have you ever asked a friend to pray for you? If so, why? Did you consider that to be "utterly ridiculous and a total waste of time"

Given the choice, I'd rather have the mother of God praying for me than your friend--nothing against your friend.

  • @1954phyllis Is your issue that the saints are dead? Catholics believe in eternal life and that they are more alive than we are--free from all sin and flooded with God's love and life-giving presence. "He is not God of the dead, but God of the living." (Mk 12:26) In Mk 9:4 Jesus is seen conversing with Elijah and Moses.

  • @1954phyllis Also, you need to put 1 Tim 2:5 in context. Read the first four verses. You'll see that Paul is calling Christians to participate in Christ's unique mediation by offering prayers and intercessions for all men. We are called to unite ourselves to the one mediator, Christ, "who gave Himself as a ransom for all," by praying for all men through Christ. That is what we do.

  • @1954phyllis And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer; and he was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne; and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God.

    (Revelation 8:3-4 RSV)

  • @1954phyllis Tell me, would you ask your pastor to pray for you? Would you ask a member of your church to pray for you? What is the difference between asking a member of your church to pray for you and another person who just so happens to be in Heaven?

  • @1954phyllis You wrote, "I would like to ask you some questions please. "

Yes, I answered several questions for you and then I asked a few. Is there any chance that you will answer the questions I asked?

We do not pray to Mary instead of Jesus. We pray to Mary in addition to Jesus. When we pray to Mary, however, we are asking her to pray for us to God. We do not worship Mary as a god.

I already answered your question about confession complete with Bible references. Did you read it?

  • @1954phyllis I can explain so little in 500 characters. Prior to Martin Luther all Christians were Catholic; it's simply a fact--whether they killed people or not. Catholics of today believe the same things as the first generations of Christians--the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, the primacy of Rome, the infallibility of the Pope, the perpetual Virginity of Mary, Purgatory, confessing sins to a priest, etc. Read the early Church fathers--Ignatius, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus.

  • @WorkingCatholic Catholics were never Christians. If they were Christians they wouldn't have murdered millions of Christians.

  • @WorkingCatholic Christians were never Catholics. Christians have always worshipped Jesus.

  • @1954phyllis "Christians were never Catholics"

Huh? Prior to Luther, all Christians were Catholic (I'm including Eastern Orthodox here.) Luther did not restore the Church; he went somewhere the Church had never been. Protestants accept man made beliefs. If this is not so, find one Christian before Luther who did not accept the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist or one person that taught being "born again" meant anything other than baptism. You can't, because they were all Catholic.

  • @1954phyllis You've got to be joking me! There were no Christians at all BUT Catholics until the Schism in 1054 and then the Protestant Reformation!

  • @Holly3278 Holly excuse me but Christianity started after the death and resurrection of Jesus. All Christians true Christians that is worship Jesus, that excludes the Catholics.

  • @1954phyllis "Christianity started after the death and resurrection of Jesus"

Okay, and what did those Christians believe? How did they worship?

The center of Christian worship was always the Holy Eucharist. ALL of the early Christians were Catholic in their beliefs (except for some of the fringe heretical groups like the gnostics.)

Bible Christian certainly didn't exist--there was no New Testament yet.

  • @1954phyllis No offense but are you stupid or just plain nuts? Catholics are just as Christian as Baptists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians, or Lutherans.

  • @Holly3278 Excuse me but I have a major questions For You. Who do Catholics really worship? Jesus or Mary? Why do Catholics pray to idols such as statues of saints? Why do you confess your sins to a priest when you can go straight to Jesus and confess your sins? Why do you Catholics call the pope "holy father" when there is only one Father and He is God?

  • @1954phyllis You ask a lot for a 500 character answer! Catholics have never worshiped Mary; we honor her, following Jesus' example. We do not pray to idols. We ask saints for intercessory prayer just as I might ask you to pray for me. We confess our sins to a priest because that is the way God set it up. Read Jam 5:13-16. Scripture does not say to confess your sins to God and only God, it says to confess your sins to one another. Also read Mt 9:2-8, Jn 20:19-23, 2 Cor 5:17-20, and Mt 18:18.

  • @1954phyllis "Why do you Catholics call the pope "holy father" when there is only one Father and He is God?"

Catholics call the pope "Holy Father" as a mark of respect because they recognize his call by Christ to image the holiness and Fatherhood of God. The term draws its power from, is dependent upon, and shares in a subordinate manner in the holy Fatherhood of God; it in no way supercedes it or denies the unique holiness and paternity of God alone. Why do Protestants call ministers Reverend?

  • @1954phyllis "Excuse me but I have a major questions For You."

Why do many Protestants reject the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist?

Why do they think Jesus was speaking symbolically in John 6?

Was the flesh that was nailed to the cross real or symbolic? Because according to Jesus in Jn 6:51, we're talking about the same flesh.

Since when did "born again" mean anything but baptism?

Why don't Protestants recognize that their beliefs are man made and less than 500 years old?

  • @1954phyllis Look, I don't have the time to sit here and answer every single one of your questions. I am no longer a Catholic and while I disagree with many of their teachings, I know that they do have valid answers to each and every one of your objections. But anyway, welcome to my ignore list. I am sick of bigoted assholes like you.

  • @1954phyllis Gee Phyllis, looks like a lot of other folks noticed you're a self righteous bigot, too. Funny huh? I assume you'll just ignore the obvious fact that you are and continue to tell everyone else how they should live their lives and what fairy tales they should believe, lest your psychotic, sadistic gawd torture them for eternity. Must be nice to have no compassion or ethical standards.

  • @beejaysucka You got it right until you said that Roman Catholics changed the Creed. I hate to tell you this but Catholics most certainly did not change the Creed.

  • Well Mary isnt God we only pray to one WHO created heaven and earth. The Nicean creed obviously proves praying to Mary is paganistic.

  • Mary is to be loved and praised. She is the greatest woman to ever walk the earth, in my opinion, as she found favor with God, and brought forth our Savior. Having said that, she is NOT to be worshipped. She was a human being, and therefore, tarnished with the human ability to sin. The Holy Trinity, which is God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, are the only ones to be worshipped, as they are forever blameless!!

  • True but why should she be praised should we than praise noah because he too found favor in him?Point is no one deserves to be praised because all the praise is for God.Praise is to glorify,if we glorify mary than it is wrong because all the glory is for GOd im sure mary wouldnt want to be praised.

  • SO TRUE! GOD MUST BE NUMBER ONE!

  • In the original Nicene Creed the filioque was not accepted as it espouses to two co-equal gods instead of a singular God-head. Neither the Orthodox not Greco Catholic Churches in Ukraine use it, nor did this choir sing it. It's too bad it was added to these subtitles.

  • Sorry, I used an English translation that came out of the Lutheran tradition. There were several English versions and I didn't know which to choose so I finally just used the one familiar to me.

Personally I think it is just a matter of semantics and shouldn't divide the church.

  • No you should fix it.

It is an important issue to us that the creed is said or sung as formulated by the Fathers at Nicene.

It is likely those that sang this feel this way also

  • Which is wrong Jesus never said pray like this and went on to say "hail mary or hail john" he said pray for GOds will to be done
