  • My people oil is bigger than one country government. The multi-national companies like SHELL OIL need to end and a company they are using blood money to fund western countries. The blood money profit they make in billions or pounds, euros, and dollas stay in the western world. WE hate Shell as a company, shell is own by the European governments. Human right, land mass dead.

  • roflmao i'm sorry but the yoruba accent kills me -_-

  • "People know that Nigeria does not exist as a true nation. But our leaders are fraudulently holding up to the country because of the oil in Itsekiri land, in Ogoni land, in Ilaje, Ijawland and Urhobo land and some parts of Iboland. There was a civil war in this country and the fight was mainly to hold on to the oil. What is holding this contraption called Nigeria together is the oil.." --- Asari Dokubo. Nigerian Tribune Newspapers. Sunday August 17, 2008.

  • Buzzmasterflash ah

i think you should stop calling your self nigerian because anybody who advocates the splitting of Nigeria should die

  • Nigerians are just crying to go to heaven..but don´t want to die..These heartless, selfish, and greedy leaders are blocking the doors of ur heaven but none want to die.they will donate to build all this fake churches and mosque so through there they can brain watch its followers with emotional sentments of going to paradise and heaven to mind control and calm ur actions against there evil leadership...wake up and stand for ur natural right folks.untill that day no peace for everyday ppl.

  • The only solution to Nigeria problem is for the country to be divided. Give me back my Bendel States and the rest will be history.

  • african countries need to stand up to their corrupt politicians instead of blaming the west for all their problems, you need to protest against your governments or simply stop supporting them in power, africa needs to show the world it is a great continent that can rule itself

  • DuckingNDiving...We cannot protest in a country where human rights is not respected by the powers that be?how can one protest in a country where the leaders are brutal.come to think of it!this leaders we r talking about are listening and reading all the international and local comments and.. news.but no atom of change from them..believe me violence, war and disintigration will solve this problem.why should the poor ppl always be in the resiveing end?Only time will solve this mess...

  • yes how do you think europe became free and democratic?in ireland we had to fight against the whole of the british empire to get our freedom in 1921,africans do fight, but they replace corrupt governments with other corrupt governments, when you impose a democracy,it is the people that have to make sure it works,if the people don't care then you will always have this problem. You do need to protest even if there is bloodshed,it won't change otherwise.

  • Your right...DuckingNDiving. but the truth is that Nigerians want to go to heaven but they don´t want to die.....Nigeria will never no peace, untill there is equal right and also justice....what a pitty for everyday people that is suffering the whole pain.

  • If you want real peace in the region $ or entire Nigerian & African Nations, ask foreign powers to excuse you.Solve your problems behind closed door. Very simple. I see no reason why foreigners should have to tell us what's good or bad for us while they themselves commiting crimes around the world.Their interests is never about peace in the region but to lay their hands on our resources as we witnessing in Iraq & Afganistan. Nigerian govt. needs to standout and assertive against foreigner powers

  • That will only happen when the government leaders actually put the people's interest first before their own pockets. These corrupt leaders almost make imperialism look good because at least then the native people had an excuse. It's been how many years since the liberation of the nation and it still lives in poverty, yet its a richly blessed country and other nations kill to have such resources. Its shame

  • Some commentators here are pointing fingers on who to blame. the fact is that succession of nigeria leaders are corrupt, so are most of the citizens, Blaming Britain or oil companies wouldnt solve the situation. You lot should wake up and start using ur brains!!

  • Its ironic: Literature laureates know the skills of diplomacy, morality and accountability, not the politicians themselves.

  • In a way, I advocate MEND for their actions - as long as harm does not come to innocent people. Like Wole and Ed said, they are a very intelligent organisation in a very tight spot.

To not go to extremes would mean that they are not serious about their demands - letting down the many who's hope for a better life depends on them.

To carry out violent acts would mean they are callous and uncultured. What do they do - Give up their cause, or face criticism?

    @ sguardian: Hi, SD!

  • also oo show how stupid the gov is, look at what wole said they put the peron who murder their peaceful leader in position of fixing their problem i mean how foolish are they thats a disgrace to nigeria. im proud to be nigerian but im sick of my government

  • i agree our difference in culture is a major problem its too diverse but we have come far past that now. Its time that nigeria moves forward and start making the country much more effective the economy is obviously good we all know that but the ppl in power are clear demons in human skin look at the form president and vice only god will hold them. the whole system is crazy. lets not pretend but the truth is if the number of ppl dead have not moved the gov then how would chatting do it.

  • Nigeria is a rogue state.Unfortunately,it has OIL and plenty of it.Nigerian leaders understatnd more than anyone else the importance of oil to the west,so its hard for the West to hold Nigeria's leaders accountable.

  • long comments.

  • Nigeria has never been a country and will never be, as long as it remains a 'geographical expression' of the British.. The people are not the same and they never have the basic feeling and understand nor trust for one another. The British government has always been out on their own selfish interest, doing everything to sustain their corrupt puppets in power. Who can imagine that they are more interested in shouting foul at Zimbabwe election, while accepting Nigeria selection? Let my People Go!

  • this is sick, the only people that can feel this pain is the people who have been there who knows it all and can tell a story, its just like taking some one who never used a public bus and who never eat in a low class restaurant and you want the person to change the face of poverty in a communnity..

    how could that work._?

  • I agree with that the Delta people should fight for a fair share of the oil wealth, but I vehemently condemn the violence, kidnapping and sabotage, among other vile means, through which they carry out their fight.

In my opinion, oil has been a curse for Nigeria. It has made us very lazy, and dependent. Anyone remembers that our flag is Green White Green and the Greens stand for AGRICULTURE, the White for Peace and Unity? We have deviated from these values. We need to get back on track.

  • have u ever seen a liberation without violence and they have been quiet for decades so what did that result in.

  • Funny that you said made that comment today. In the United States, today (Jan 19th, 2009) is Martin Luther King's Day. That's a man that changed America without violence; You mentioned that they've been quiet for decades. They shouldn't be quiet, they should protest and speak out. But violence, which usually targets innocent people who have no say over the govt. policies should not be the means. Liberation and a common sense approach should not be mutually exclusive, my brother.

  • dude martin luther didnt fight but the blacks in america did, ken sarowiwa not sure i spelt that right didnt fight and like martin was killed only by far more publicly. People keep screeming liberation but like i said especially with the state of nigeria liberation without violence or the fighting which by the way i dont support but is fact will be less effective than trying to make a horse drink water.

  • Maybe in a nation with leaders that care. Nigerian leaders do not care. The violence typically targets innocent people who cannot change anything. If they can actually target the people in power with the violence; then I can support that. An uncle of mine was killed in Port Harcourt by the so called MEND. He was an average guy trying to survive; what did that change? Nothing! You can support violence, but if it target everyday people, it makes no difference. I respectfully disagree with you bro.

  • ude u dont ve to disagree with me, becos im in support with u on violence against the ppl in power and the companies not doing their job. im not in support of killing innocents bcos that innocent could be me or u or a family member thus i think we just had some lack of communication but they need to channel their anger toward the evil forces of darkenss lol aka nigerian government lol

  • In that case, we are on the same page bro. People running Nigeria will never do right; corruption runs deep in their blood and we don't do enough to punish them. Imagine a politician was convicted for fraud and he was given a jail time with an option to pay a fine and not go to jail. Only in Naija. Anyways, the struggle continues.

  • BRUV DONT EVEN GE ME started on them lol but its really sad that they choose to hold the whole nation back with their foolishness. But then again, thats what u get, when an un educated person runs ur country

  • freedom fighter are not bandit, delta people should fight i do support them
