My catch can has a check valve in it that eliminates the PCV valve. It will never fail because the valve is after the tank catches all the sludge. For $75 shipped to your door, it pays for itself very quickly. Huge side benefit of this system is if you decide to turbo charge your motor, the check valve design will keep the case from over pressurizing. email me at brianrlawlor@yahoo.com for more info
Nice video. I havent read all the comments to see if this has been covered already, but the hose is getting destroyed from the blow by gasses and oil the valve cover allows to go thru. The baffling inside the valve cover on most vehicles is poorly designed and allows this sludge to gum up the PCV which makes it fail. This oil and other crud is also entering the intake manifold and reducing the octane of the fuel. Carbon build up on the valve seats and spark plugs result in economy issues.
if you notice all the comments with people having problems with this issue, either finding or getting to the pcv valve they all have fords, my gf focus is a peice of shit and we will never buy another ford, not just because it breaks down but because it is engineered so poorly and everything is a pain to get to and work on
The rubber fitting on my engine block where the PCV valve sits didn't give me much if any resistance when taking it off unlike yours in the video, is that bad?
I also need a video on the 98 (or any year contour for that matter) 4cyl. PCV valve replacement. I believe I have located it but am having a hell of a time removing it, any tips or videos, would be awesome. Thanks.
Does anybody have a video of how to replace PCV valve on a 1998 ford contour 4 cylinder? I have a horrible time finding where it is located at. Thanks in advance.
you have to remove the PCV valve from where it's connected (not the hose end). With the engine running, place your finger over the end. You should feel vacuum. If not, you've got a clogged PCV or PCV hose.
Question...I did this to my t-bird. It had a fine valve but i didnt know how old it was so i replaced it with a new one and the new one made it idle bad and it almost stalls when you shift into drive or reverse or when im at a light. So i put the old valve back in but it still idles badley. What went wrong??
Check to be sure you didn't unplug any other hoses. You may have inadvertently disconnected a vacuum hose. Or check the hose leading to/from your PCV. Is it cracked?
If your check engine light is on, have it diagnosed at a AutoParts store, ask for a OBD system read on your engine light. They'll do it for free with a handheld computer and potentially uncover your issue. Good Luck! - Ben
thanks for the reply. continuing with my last comment...so the old one was ideling badly too so i just said heck if they both idle bad its better for the new one to be in anyway. so i drove the car for a while after with its bad ideling but as the days went by the ideling improved to a nice steady idle except when the heater is on then it gets i bit funky, although i dont think that has nething to do with the valve. thanks for the advice!!

where is the pcv valve on a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport LS 3.0L V6??
ANGEL900625 6 months ago
@ANGEL900625
Probably located on the valve cover, but if you are unsure the best way to find out is to look
in a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual. Available at an autoparts store. Or try posting your
question on one of the Montero forums. Try mitsubishiforum(dot)com
good luck!! Ben

how about with a 94 ford escort??
RocPrinc3ss 1 year ago
Easy? Ha. It may be a simple procedure on your Saturn, but the PCV valve is often buried in the deepest recesses of the engine compartment.

He should also put some hose clamps or zip ties on both sides.. fuel hoses expand causing vacuum leaks

You beat me to that one.

The shaking to hear the rattling test is not a valid test of the PCV valve being good or not.

and what is the right way to test this valve then?

is it true that it would make it faster??

A little, but it's also illegal (violates emissions regulations).
