Something about walking into a comic book shop makes me feel 12 again. I run around like an idiot and before I know it I got a stack of books in my hand. What a great way to to spend a summer afternoon!
Wow that's an amazing comic book shop! I loved visited my local comic book store back in the day, and still really wish I had still collected. That store has some great variety of stuff including baseball cards and collectables. Nice interview as well Ed!
Yeah you need a Magic the gathering room, that was my childhood spending my days playing in the back room of my comic book shop all day buying card sociolizing making friends. I really miss those days =[
@AllAboutNerds I loved the original Uncanny run that was penned by Chris Claremont. Especially the arcs he did with John Bryne,Marc Silvestri and Jim Lee. I also enjoyed Preacher and Powers.
@SplatterTrigger you didn't like the artwork of jim lee, rob leifeld, or the original spiderman masterpiece creator, todd mcfarlane? those guys are legends!
I'm not really much of an avid comic book collector. I do collect them but they're more of an outside hobby purchase for me. I am particularly fond of iron man though even though I only buy the hardcover editions of iron man books.
Great to see you shouting out a local store. I havent been into the comic scene for a few years, but every now and then I pop into my store just to check out the new action figures they have.
i would think comic book industry would be improved now because marvel has ventured out of books and into moving images with sound - video games. they diversified away from only books and cards (i used to buy marvel masterpieces in 1991). i LOVED valiant comics like magnus robot fighter, rai, harbinger, solar jetman, and bloodshot. do you carry valiant figures? magnus is actually quite an old comic character. digital stuff sucks. it literally doesn't exist. it can get erased. can't trade/sell it
Yeah man, comic book stores are the shit. The funny thing is we all have our favorite one. I've been shopping at my comic book store in NewHaven for more then 20 years! Thats were I get most of my anime:) Great vid Ed!!!
Ed, always keeping the good fight going. Once I go back home for Summer, I think I will go look for a local comic book shop. I have been getting into comics more lately and comics are really a true American pastime.
No more comic book shops around where I live. Sucks... unless you count books a million... Which has a selection of like six comic books... literally. However my local library does have a lot of comicbooks that can be checked out which is cool... but still not the selection that I could find if the comic book stores were still open.
Great video i just wish comics really were still a cheap form of entertaiment most marvel and dc books are 3.99 each which imo isnt worth it with the quality of writing and art we get nowadays, i usually get my books at comic cons in the 5 for a 1$ bins but i do support my local stores with figure purchases
Great video man, wish there was still a local shop near me but sadly they all died out. I used to be into comics big time but now I only keep up with 2 series.
Awesome, one comic book store closed near me when the owner died last year and it sucks now. There still are a couple comic stores near me but not to much.
man when I was a kid I use to get all kinds of Spiderman comics, spectacular, peter parker, and some others I don't remember but anyways GREAT VIDEO! loved it
@SplatterTrigger Arcades and "comic book shops" (i.e. manga shops) in Japan are certainly not dead at all. I think it's time for the US comic book and arcade industry to really look at how Japan is doing things and apply the same business model.
@SplatterTrigger The whole digital vs. physical thing applies to manga and with video games as well. For companies, it's cheaper since there's no printing or disc stamping costs...and the packaging. But I think it's really having a physical copy is a "good-feeling" type of thing. If I had a choice, I'd get both digital and physical. Physical I'd keep for collecting and archiving, but digital would be for reading and stuff.
@SplatterTrigger Pretty cool shop. Free Comic Book Day...as in they give you a free comic book or 2? o_O Can you give me some? =D I dunno about comics these days. It seems like more people are going to manga instead. I think it might be cool if this store also started selling a small section of manga if they want to get a butt load more clients. And yea. Gas prices around here are nearly $4 a gallon...ridiculous. Time to move to electric cars like the Volt. =D
Used to get all my comics at Richies at their old location. Cool store.

The problem that I have with comics is the amount of adds that they have in them. It seems like every other page is a full page add.

Comics is probably the biggest form on media that I am not that invested in. I have been wanting to read more comics but havent gotten around to it.
Perhaps in the future I will read more awesomeness like Walking Dead, Transmetropolitan and Priest.
