The only really flaw was the last part of the movie, "Technically" Jim Gordon's son should have died, that's why Barbara is the only child and later becomes Batgirl. The death causes the mother to become an alcoholic and gets divorced with Gordon and Barbara moves with her father. Everything else was spot on, I personally think Chris didn't wanna make it darker then it already was.

@Wizlyy I agree Maggie Gyllenhaal was WAY better than Katie Holmes. And as for who has more talent...there is no question. Katie's work is not even in the same stratosphere as Maggie's. Like you said Maggie is a REAL heavyweight actress and only adds more credibilty to The Dark Knight.

She should have been in Batman Begins cause her death was very effective in The Dark Knight but would have been even more so if she had been in it's predecessor. Plus I'm a fan of continuity in films.

@Wizlyy: I don't think Katie Holmes was any less talented than Maggie Gyllenhaal. The only difference was that the script for TDK was alot more dramatic than BB (love triangle, Rachel dumped Bruce and died in TDK), so Rachel left a stronger impression here.

I believe if Katie Holmes had played Rachel, the movie would have been a lot better. I mean... while watching TDK, I looked at Maggie's face and asked myself why the hell would 2 hot guys fight over her...

@foolishduck Well I personnally believe that love's first motivation isn't looks. Rachel is an intelligent, strong and dedicated woman and I can totally see why any men with half a brain could fancy her. Plus she's Bruce's childhood friend, he's deeply attached to her. This is realistic because being pretty isn't a pre-requisite to be a childhood friend or a collegue to another pretty person. That's what shows like Dawson and whatnots want you to think.

& I do think Holmes is mediocre at best.

@Wizlyy I was taken aback the first time I saw Maggie as Rachel, but I really think she proved her worth. She even sounded a lot like Katie's Rachel. The one thing with Holmes that I can't stand is that thing she does with her mouth. I found nothing wrong with Maggie's portrayal and didn't find her unattractive in the least, and I agree with your statements.
