The Ganges river may be a little nasty and stuff but I mean, cities like Bombay or New Delhi, people should realize that India does not consist ONLY on the Ganges river... There's more cities there with different things and historic stuff... It's amazing.

I mean, I have to respect their beliefs because we all have our own...but I cannot respect them as human beings seeing as they are spreading so much disease through their "sacred" river. If only they didn't throw their dead, waste, chemicals and feces in it, it might have stood a chance. I must say it's Varanasi is a beautiful city in all in it's uniqueness. I hope their efforts to get The Ganges clean pays off. It really is beautiful if only it were healthy. I'd love to visit then.

@brianahwanh I wouldn't hold it against the people. Most of them don't know any better due to a lack of education. It's the same thing in Egypt. Boys as young as 10 swim in dirty Nile canals wearing only their skibbies, sometimes even naked. People pee and poop in these canals and it's common to see a donkey carcass floating in the water. Many of these kids probably built up a good immune system from swimming in these canals! Egyptians even wash their dishes and clothes in this dirty water. Yek!
