yea true Scbuababe20 but there are good wreck discovery/dive accident videos and stories on the net too. My favourite site is the myscubastory site. They have tonnes of real life dive stories and videos. Type myscubastory into google and its the first result
that regulator recovery wase bad thats is not a demo quality... 1st its to fats for students (for certificaded divers is fine tiught) 2nd u cant hold the regulator like that its always on the hose that u have to hold it
"don't ever use common sense if you wanna go pady - pro ! :D"
:-)
and I thank GoProUtilaDiveCentre and Funky Fat Fish production for the great work. And for giving it to us free of charge. So anti-pro, so generous and so instructive. Thank you.
As an experienced but 'rusty' diver, who is currently doing the DMT, I found these videos invaluable. I've been diving for over ten years, so my memory of th basic skills is quite poor. Thanks guys.
For alt-air exercise you do not turn the students air off. Also, person needing air needs to alert air donor of the low/out of air situation. The donor takes control and not the receiver.
During the CESA where was the "instructor" to go along with the student to aid them in the skill? The instructor is to be there to prevent problems (like spit out regulator, hold breath). Very bad demonstration.
I was a PADI instructor for 15 years, and was better than these clowns.
Yes I know it was the instructor. But you always use a "qualified" assistant, be it another Instructor or a DM, to demonstrate the CESA while you the primary instructor are in control.
And my statement stands. It is videos like this that worry me about how divers are trained.
I trained people for over 10 years in California and made sure I turned out 'qualified' divers, not just 'certified' ones.
And this wasn't a lack of respect or judement on my part. It was a statement.
The aim of the videos is not to take on the role of a Course Director teaching instructors how to teach, control a group of students etc.
The videos are a DM skill circuit, so are surely aimed at a Certified Assistant being able to perform these skills at demo quality to pass their DM, or perhaps as a quick refresher.
I think we are probably talking at cross purposes, and you seem to be damning this video for things that it is not even trying to be.
I'm a DM and I happened to find these videos just great!!! thanks a lot for posting, muchas gracias

@calkelpdiver You do realise that this is an instructor demonstrating a CESA?
Not an video of an instructor assessing a student diver's skill!
Why would there need to be an instructor to go along with an instructor doing a demo?
Pretty good demo actually. Compare to PADI standards. lots of 5's in the IE i reckon.
Your "clowns" comment just shows a lack of respect and judgement. Well done you!

Regulator clearing: 5 points...
Regulator recovering: Great, just stress a bit more that you lean over to your right.
I grant you an extra applaus for getting the right speed in the CESA demonstration!

Great stuff, what great review. I'll be passing these onto friends looking to get into diving. You always need more dive buddies.
