Kesariya balam is a traditional RAJASTHANI folk song. Mehendi hasan also sang a version of it, it NOT his original composition. It has been recreated by a lot of singers but it is a folk song and has been around longer than mehendi hasan.

Yes, u r right. few days before I first time listen this song in Youtube sung by Fareed Ayaaz Qawal of Dehli Gharana " Maand by Fareed Ayaz " n its capture my heart. Yesterday I specially searched n listened this song in the voice of many artists n enjoyed all.

This is a traditional Rajasthani folk song and people have been singing it since hundred of years. Mehndi Hasan is also originally from Rajasthan. But its not originally sung by him.
