  • I'm upgrading from a 30 gig ssd to a 128 ssd, after I clone it should I boot up with only the new ssd? Also would I be able to wipe the old ssd and still be able to use it?

  • @LickInHD You can have the old 30GB as a 2nd hard drive, then wipe it out if you wish. WAIT until you KNOW you have good backups of the new drive though

  • @PCRogerTV dose the cloning software allow you to only clone the OS from your main HDD?

  • @mainenwo No, cloning the drive is an exact duplicate of all information on the drive.

  • Please say me:do Crucial M4 SSD's come with this software you use to clone the harddrive?

  • @lazimofo90 Not the ones I've bought recently.

  • would you recommend kingston over a crucial m4?

  • @lazimofo90 Right now I'm buying Crucial M4 for max performance but Kingston for better "value"; depends what people want.

  • Should I not wipe out my hard drive before doing this? What about unplug it so it doesn't confuse the ssd?

  • @MeestaBojangles The idea is to transfer everything on the hard drive to the SSD. If you DON'T want the info from the hard drive, then don't connect it and just install Windows fresh on the SSD.

  • @FreeCompConsultant What if I install windows fresh on my SSD but did no wipe out my HDD (so Windows is also in that one). What would happen if I reconnect both and boot up my computer?

  • @MeestaBojangles The PC will boot to whichever hard drive you have set as first boot device in your BIOS; If you have an option for boot selection (F8 key on my PC) you can boot from the other drive when you need to without changing the settings in the BIOS to do it.
