Wow, Neil Cavuto is terrible in this interview. Wouldn't it make more sense for the Secretary of the Treasury to set compensation rates rather than a Congressman? He gets so emotional that he starts strawmanning his recount of Grayson's statements, while Grayson remains as calm as a Hindu cow. It seems to me that the compensation would be proportional to the corporation's wealth and income rather than some blanket number across the industry that Cavuto demands.
@frednoname1 None of the people in these companies would be employed at all if not for the bailouts, so why should they be rewarding themselves with lavish salaries and bonuses? The bailouts for the banks were intended to clear up their debts so they could begin lending money again. Their inability to lend money is why the economy is failing because vritually all businesses use lines of credit to produce goods before selling them for revenue.

Wow, Neil Cavuto is terrible in this interview. Wouldn't it make more sense for the Secretary of the Treasury to set compensation rates rather than a Congressman? He gets so emotional that he starts strawmanning his recount of Grayson's statements, while Grayson remains as calm as a Hindu cow. It seems to me that the compensation would be proportional to the corporation's wealth and income rather than some blanket number across the industry that Cavuto demands.

@frednoname1 None of the people in these companies would be employed at all if not for the bailouts, so why should they be rewarding themselves with lavish salaries and bonuses? The bailouts for the banks were intended to clear up their debts so they could begin lending money again. Their inability to lend money is why the economy is failing because vritually all businesses use lines of credit to produce goods before selling them for revenue.

I thought congress passed TARP and the recovery plan under Bush's recommendation which gave his Secretary Treasurer the power to give out the frist $700 bn. All Beck was asking for was a simple guideline on exactly who this act will affect...

If the companies have been bailed out by taxpayers, why wouldn't the taxpayers have a right to determine when pay is excessive? And the last time I looked, secretaries weren't the ones getting obscene bonuses and wrecking the economy. And then, have another law that tells people the limit above which power consumption is excessive, so people know when to shut down their home theater.
