  • what audio version is this from?

  • god i love when they point at the leg bone. always made me laugh.

  • For scenes like this, Guybrush is my Twitter avatar.

  • very awesome game i love it

  • Fun trivia I just discoverd:

Dem Bones, is a well-known song, to teach basic anatomy to children, though its not anatomically correct. The melody is from James Weldon Johnson 1871–1938. The lyrics are based on Ezekiel 37:1-14, where the prophet visits the Valley of Dry Bones and prophesies that they will become alive by God's command.

  • Was there a point to that dance?

  • @ELsclay Yes actually, when guybrush says he is taking notes, he really does. If you look at an old piece of paper on his inventory, the lyrics are writen down there, and they are instructions to get past Le Cuck's fortress corridors.

  • it's almost twenty years since the game got released and we still have absolutely no clue as to what either this dream or the whole Dinky Island tunnels scenario was actually about.

there are a bunch of interpretations but only a few points were actually taken care of through retcons in the sequel....

  • omg I wanna play this again.

  • @sailoreris123

    I don't

  • @sailoreris123

    Have to agree with genericusername337...

  • This just adds to my frustration. My bone puzzle lyrics don't match any of the doors in my save file.

  • most epic moment in a video game

  • God I love this series so fucking much. Why can't they make such great stuff anymore?

  • Isn't this song inspired by the song "Dry Bones" from The Singing Detective?

  • Comment removed

  • Man when I first got t othis sequence I thought that he actually died

  • i fucking love when he says: "wow... they're good" and starts shakin' :D so cool

  • uh......

  • i have iphone version special edition

    ANYWAYS

where to find the metronome to pick up monkey?

  • @MintBIRDIE69

the metronome is on the piano in the bar ship if memory serves

  • lols wig! 2:36 Love this game, something I'm glad to have grown up with.

  • best moment: "wow, they're good" and he starts dancing XDDDD

  • The voices are actually awesome.

  • I always found this oddly unsettling. I just played this part during my replay of MI2.

  • I was just playing the SE, this song redone is awful. They sing over it and it sounds crap, and they don't even sing in time.

  • @gazm2k5

You can switch to classic mode and turn the voices off if you don't like it. Then everyone's happy!

  • @thevillipeople Well fiddling in options is a lot of effort for that one scene, the voices in the rest of the game were great.

I don't think Largo's voice suited him too well but it was alright.

  • @gazm2k5 I think thats the point:p

  • this scared the hell out of me when i was 5

  • Uploaded a SE version if anyones interested

  • Rib to arm to head to leg

leg to hip to arm to rib

    for the puzzle later

monkey island 2 (remake) came out for xbox arcade and Ps3 network

  • awesome

  • I thought the ending to this game was less than satisfactory for the hard puzzles you had to do...

  • this is probably my favourite moment in MI2

  • I have a felling I'm gonna be disapointed when they do the special version of MI2 and hear them sing with actual voices :(

  • @Raicuparta Oh yeah. I am already dissapointed. By the whole voicework, actually... I'm turning them off definetely.

  • there are two ways to die in MI 2 1. stay hanging long enough in lechucks fortress and 2. when u go down to the sea mokey wreck just stay down there for ten minutes.

in MI 1 u can die by drwoning too yeah i discovered that once by accident, i think that is the only way though, u can near death with the "rubber tree" on the cliff on monkey island, but not actually die.

  • This bit was odd for me, at first i thought oh crap did i just die in a MI game! and by the end of it i was pissing myself with laughter it is gold i mean his FACE!!! the wide eyes it's hilarious

  • @IDyce88 same here XD you know, you can die in MI 1 O-o it happened to me

    spoiler for MI 1 death:

I was in the water with the idol, I did leave for lunch, when I come back WTF HOLY SHIT I DIED O.O

    sorry for my bad english

  • you're STILL ALIVE!!!

  • You gotta take a look at the "bone song" mt-32 version posted by "zummone", it's awesome!! :-)

  • This scene became the best video game scene of all time. Perfect dramatic timing, combined with the fact that they start singing a (seemingly) completely unrelated song to ANYTHING.

    Incredibly catchy too. Love it!

  • BIG LIPED ALIGATOR MOMMENT!?

  • Wait. I have watched this several times and I just noticed they messed up the song.

    And burst out laughing.

  • if you mean that they song body part connections wrong, it was because its a hint for later puzzle (like they said, they have information to him)

  • Can't wait to hear this in the remake

  • The song's originally called "Dry Bones" or "Dem Bones". This Version is just slightly changed!

  • That song's in our English-schoolbook from last year here in germany :D

  • I prefer the PC Speaker version xD I don't know why lol!

  • Dude, that's so funny. I've always said that, too. It's just a bit quirkier in the music! I'd love to hear that version! lol

  • @nicolunacba haha so do I =D PC Speaker was where it at those days.

  • Heey... They tried to teach us something through song! I HATE WHEN THEY DO THAT!

  • is this a big liped aligator moment for the game.

  • jeah :D so grooviiie ^.^

  • loool

  • He's weraing a wig!

  • Weird scene, indeed. It took me a while to realize that this song would actually be used in LeChuck's hideout, at first I just wandered around the place until I figured out the connection between the songs and the skeletons.

Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 are probably the best games ever, no doubt about that.

  • XD the look on his face when they turn into skeletons and start dancing

  • The real fun thing is, tha "The Backyardigans" used the melody of this song for one of their episodes called "Those Bones".

When i heard that song i really couldn't believe it, i nearly cried, i was laughing so hard :P

  • This isn't just a monkey island song you know? It has always been used to attempt to teach kids about anatomy.

  • Yeah, it's an actual song.

  • The leg bone is connected to the... arm bone..

  • My face while watching this: (O_O), then: (@,@). Also, I thought: "This is completely destroying my mind as it creeps its way inside my psyche... And I like it!"

Let me guess... the lyrics of that song are important for solving a crucial puzzle later on...

I hope they release this on XBOX Live. Thanks for the video.

  • wow this shit is weird..

  • What the deuce is this?

  • That scene is a masterpiece! There is no chance to top it!

  • I think Lucas Arts bettered it with "A Pirate I Was Meant To Be" in The Curse of Monkey Island. Seriously, that was pure gold!

  • Monkey island 2 is my favorite game of all time

  • I lol'd

  • -goosebumps

  • das finale wahr sau geil

  • Why...this brings a tear to my eye.

  • I agree, I'm not sure why I find this scene so beautiful lol, must be just the nostalgia kicking in.

  • Just imagine this song sang and with real music background

  • This is my fav. of all MI's. I guess back when i was very young i played the floppy disk-version like.. 100 times xD

  • I love the shocked expression on Guybrush when he watches the skeletons, it's all the little expression details like that that make the game so great.

  • head bone... the head bone's connected to the...

  • rib bone... the rib bone's connected to the...

  • arm bone... the arm bone´s connected to the

  • Let's start a chain here.

The rib bone's connected to the...

  • My friend and i were playing this the other day, when this came on we were like: "Wtf? Dancing skeleton parents?"

  • @BakasRvivor

Dude this is like... the least weird part in the games.

  • does this game has a voice acting? or just the effects and background music only?

  • in the first and second monkey island there's no speech output. subtitles and music only.

gotta love the skeleton dance!! :)

  • Nope. this game doesn't have voice acting. (Though if it had a remake, it would...)

  • I WANT A REMKAE NOW!!!!!!

Seriously, MI remake was good but... how awesome would a MI2 remake be? It's the best game ever.

  • Given MI1 remake just hit, odds are the 2nd will be on it's way. Only a matter of time. And I guess sales figures.

  • My thoughts exactly. They might even extend the ending so we could see how exactly Guybrush is able to escape the twisted horrors of the Big Whoop amusement park!

  • I love how Guybrush starts to move along with the rythm at 1:44

  • best game sequence ever!

  • it's soo great i love it thanks a million for uploading :)

  • The Bone Song! Do doo do do doo do do doo do do do!

  • this is so awesome..that it has to be monkey island

  • If I ever become a surgeon, I know what I'll be humming...

  • I love this bit!! XD

  • i got this song on my head now! its so good!

  • 2:33 XD

    -BOOOOO

    -WOOOOOOOOW

  • thank you so much for this post! i really needed that after the new MI announcments...

    best MI moment ever! :D

  • Love the look on Guybrush's face XD

  • Ok, this is SO sick.

  • yeah we were all laughing, but when no one actually wrote the thing down WHO WAS LAUGHING????

ok not really the game actually wrote it down for us xD, but if it didn't ooooooooooh boy, many so many angry people xD

  • It did? Where? I actually solved the puzzle through try-and-error.

  • well, guybrush says the song is catchy and then he says to himself, I gotta write this down, he does this while he is allucinating, after he wakes up, if you check the snot stained paper, the answer is written there =P

  • So that's where he writes it ^_^;

I always thought he writes it down, but only dreams it, so there's no note afterwards...

  • yeah :P , I always thought it was more of an alucination, and imagine that he was lying on the floor with his tongue hanging from its side and he pulls out the snot paper and starts writing XD. I even tried having a frsh paper to see if he wrote on the blank paper, but no, he still writes on the snot paper XD

  • Fabulous! This song is fantastic; it's as catchy now as when I heard it first five years ago. LeChuck's Revenge (my favourite MI game, incidentally) was chock-full of unexpected but great moments.

  • Guybrush is comfortably numb, no?

  • the ending dissapointed me

  • I love this sequence

  • i remember the first time i played this, pished myself laughing...not really but was in hysterics.

  • fuckin' catchy!

i've been wistling that for months!

  • That's Story, simple as that.

  • My lovely episode! Absolutely madness!

  • This song is hymned by the doctor in Simpsons in some episode. :>

  • Makes you wonder just how hard poor Guybrush hit his head

  • haha a whack like crack xD

  • monkey island 2 will forever entrench my soul

  • LMAO. This part is so random ;P

  • if one day you skeleton broke into pieces... you can follow this instructions... at the end youll have a very beautiful and proporcioned body shape! lolz

  • Do not attempt to adjust your set! lol!!

  • i wish they would remake the first and second monkey island game in the visual style of the third <3

... and like everyone else: Make a goddamn 5th game!!! there is no reason why Adventure games should die in silence !!!!

  • yeah lol they should make a fifth game.. but I reckon the terrible graphics of the first were what made it so awesome, they focused on storylines rather than being all fancy.. although it'd be interesting to see how they'd do it..

  • this game is fantastic. its a shame this genre is pretty much dead now.

  • I like the song. It's catchy. :)

  • hwuh, hwah,WTF! Did the fettucini brothers just fire you from their cannon?

  • Ok ok, but how can I get here? i've never seen that background... could somebody tell me?

  • this is a section that can only be gotten to if you're playing it on the hard mode. on the easier mode, you bypass the need for this puzzle. well worth playing through the hard mode in my oppinion hehe

  • this part it's just GREAT!

  • I always loved this scene.

The fact that the 2nd part broke and he knocked himself out on the first one.

It reminds me of the cliff scene from King's Quest VI: Heir today gone tomorrow

  • ScummVM is your best friend. Look it up on Google. It's an emulator that can run all these old games easily on new platforms like Windows 2000/XP. Give it a shot!

  • I loved this series.

  • I think Monkey Island 2 is the perfect game but i have 1 only complain... it is in the end of the game. An amusement park?? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!

  • There are indications this was planned from the very start. There are things even in the first Monkey Island game that pointed in this direction. Play it again and pay attention, looking for the little signs. It's quite fascinating! Too bad a different team took over for MI3 (though I enjoyed the game, personally).

  • dude what do u mean?

  • well lechuck cursed guybrush to be a kid in the amusment park like in the third one but u dont no what happens and the 3rd one it happens again but he finds a way out

  • In 2 he doesn't turn him into a child, he just puts him in an illusion, a sort of daydream.

  • Only if you consider CMI being part of the series. In my opinion The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge are a concluded story and The Curse of Monkey Island has been made because they wanted to earn more money. Not that MI3 was bad, it just doesn't fit into the style and storyline of the first two. MI4, however, WAS bad. Yikes.

  • No it's not just if you consider CMI part of it.

Elaine says so in MI2, in the credits.

And MI4 wasn't bad, it was just a little short.

  • actually if you look at grumpy gamer the creators blog, he says he had in mind a 3rd game before he left lucas arts and was going somewhere with the bizzare ending of the 2nd game. This clip is AMAZING, i'm well going to play this again :D

  • I consider the first two a series on their own.

After that the game becomes disjointed with CMI having a weird start that just brushes over the end of MI2.

And MI4 is just strange... I mean Elaine and Guybrush married? And Herman Toothrot being Grandpa Marley? It was just strange.

Don't get me wrong I love CMI and EMI is okay but the first too always seemed like the real thing to me.

  • In order to understand the Big Whoop being an ammusment park you have to play MI3, it's all part of LeChucks plan y'see.

  • great one. 5*

  • I'd love to see someone with their hip connected to their head. ^^

  • Notice how LeChuck has a blue jacket. Could be because he had it the last time (sort of) he met Guybrush. Or maybe it's just because the background is red. Anyways, nice detail.

  • That is my favourite song from these series. What an arrangement, too!

  • such a catchy song! it sounded great on a pc speaker

  • Awesome stuff, still funny today!

  • sublime!!!!lol a classic!

  • lechuck turns into guybrush from MI1 in every thing sweet (sorry for the bad english)

  • any1 know if they ever made monkey island 2 with voices?

    could someone tell me

  • I don't think that there is any reason for synchronisizing Monkey Island I or II.

The games were/are good anyway, it's not necessary to add voices. Reading the text isn't quite difficult, it's only less comfortable...

  • What's the song actually called?

  • It is the "Bone Song", but is a popular typical song for kid!

    (sorry for my english)

  • yeah! i found it also in a Disney Channel show... "Phil from the future" or something like this..

  • I just came across that scene, my first playthrough of MI2...

    And I LOL'D

    SO

    HARD

    An absolute classic!

  • I need some help here....

I am at Lechuck´s fortress and i really dont know where i have the spit-encrusted paper ¿?

I cant find it on my items... dah

    well, thanks...

  • i endend the game, sorry huh

  • o ok

  • Best version of that song ever made! :D

  • lol i love this shit XD

  • lol i loved it.

  • Classique :)

I love the way he looks at them at the beginning, like "wtf ?"... And then "wow, they're good" ^^

  • why is lechuck wearing a blue pitrate coat he wears red....

  • Someone else commented the following: "It might be because Guybrush hasn't seen Lechuck as a zombie yet, so he remembers him with a blue coat on like he had in the first game."

  • oh yeah thats a good explanation altho lechucks coat (as i believe) white and he just spent most of his time on his ship (witch is blue)

  • Guybrush is wearing Lechucks coat.

  • THE best Monkey Island. :)

  • best game ever, and excellent music too. when my friends call me, it's this music that come from my cellphone

  • The best game ever!

  • My attacks have left entire islands depopulated.

With your breath, I'm sure they all suffocated.

  • You didn't have to write it down, he's writing it down so that when you get to that maze bit later on you examine the paper and the list is right there

  • One was classic. Two was the best. Three introduced me to the series and is really good, and 4...... well lets not talk about 4

  • yeah i totally agreed :D It was the third part that introduced me too, and then i played the 1 and 2 during the math lessons on my A925 (hand-computer + mobile phone ) Best math lessons i ever had.

  • i love this part of the game
